Sht man, you almost blew the entire fking thing the first 20 seconds in lol.
🤫 The real truth, Dino wanted a near perfect Burton clone but who he could bend over without any agro, and that is what he found, two roosters in the hen house is one too many. Look at Mustaine and Metallica. Hemmet was made for ego maniacs Lars and Hetfield.
I have been a fan since the early days. I had a huge crush on Miki which is not surprising because a lot of us indie/shoegaze nerds did. I used to blast out to Lush on my way to surf. The songs stayed in my head while I was surfing. Timeless music.
Justice for Kurt 2025
Omg ur as sick as we all are😂😂ur rich doctor's believe you we are poor so it's all in the mind get to work
Living in Seattle and briefly working at subpop in 1989, i actually saw steve whrn he had a pageboy haircut. At subpop they would put on the wall, letters from girls who were in love with Steve and wanted to marry him.
Very candid interview lad. In 2018 I caught pneumonia and sepsis and was in intensive care for 5 weeks. Induced coma , on Propofol, Fentanyl, Midazolam, , Klonopin and fuck knows what else. The sepsis attacked my major organs and I was put on kidney dialysis. Had a tracheostomy. On these meds I was hallucinating and dreaming some weird shit. Still with me 7 years on. Upshot is I came round and after 7 weeks in total came home. I had developed End Stage COPD. On oxygen therapy for last 6/7 years and was about to be put on transplant list. I’d given up Heroin in 2008 but was on methadone, pregabs , diazepam (Valium), zopiclone and more. I’ve had to iron everything out. Lockdown was fucked as I was super vulnerable so couldn’t go near anyone. PTSD occurred from my hospital stay. Went into detox in 2022 and came off Methadone after 28 year addiction and given up pregabs, zopiclone and all other meds. Including smoking one pure biffta a night. The transplant clinic invited me for a 3 day assessment but wouldn’t put me on list. I had to iron those addictions out. Anyway up shot is I was pensioned off from work in 2019 as needed permanent 02. Only meds apart from standard ones I get are diazepam 10mg a day and 20mg of zomorphs slow release capsules in morning and night to help my breathing. That was dealt with at a high level as obviously they were worried about my opioid addiction. St Gemma’s pushed for that script and I’ve stuck to it , sorted everything out and finally I’ve been referred by my consultant to go back up to Freemans in Newcastle to get back on the transplant list. You have to be in best shape you can be. I need a double lung transplant so fingers crossed. It’s been f****g horrific. Remember there’s always someone worse off than yourself. Well done Bill lad and the latest album from 2024 is top drawer. Nice one fella. Sorry to harp on. Oh and don’t get me started on acrophobia. Don’t wanna leave the gaff but force myself to.
The paranoia about health and desire to live on your own is connected. That's to say living on your own is ok while you have good health. When your seriously ill, you don't know what's going to happen and your scared, living on your own becomes a very different story indeed.
omg the way he fanboys for Kate Bush 🫶 really appreciate him as an introvert and fellow creative
Medicine - Shot Forth Self Living and The Buried Life
Love the Wild Swans! In "88 they got me through a hard time and love their songs, I still listen to Bringing home the Ashes.Thank you Paul!
No such thing as “free Healthcare”, it’s government funded healthcare which is funded through high taxes. Look at Canada. They now offer suicide as a n option to get out from paying for it
Irritatingly nice - that’s kind of a backhanded compliment
Really great band, had it all, to me it was amazing that there were many more great bands, around that time, as I thoughmudhoney were best,
'You know, a lot of people died, but there's still mileage in it.'
well, they were happily together supporting Noel Gallagher at Ally Pally in the summer (2024)
I first became a fan with YES. I have followed you since then. I'm sorry I missed your gigs at Hideaway in Streatham. Just bought your albums with hifi Sean ,long may you continue my friend
Amazing..a year late on this but i think this is a terrific interview. Discovered your channel through the Steve Turner interview which was amazing as well, very smart... So yea man, keep it up and really appreciate the great content! Btw i have heard the story of the biy seeing the bodies in the cemetery before, very weird! Cheers
This dude, got a perma smile, but hes got some weird thoughts running through his dome. Why does he blend make believe with the future? Makes it very unlistenable.
24:18 I’m guessing he meant “Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger. I get the sentiment though. Awesome “depressing “ songs like “Black” by PJ or “Polly” & “Something in the Way “ by Nirvana was replaced by crappy bubblegum songs by one hit wonders like Harvey Danger or Sugar Ray or Third Eye Blind.
Cobain despised Jeff Ament. He called him a “professional musician “ in the Nirvana biography “Come as You Are “ Nirvana was way more punk rock than PJ. Nirvana was influenced by Blag Flag & bad brains. PJ was influenced by Neil Young.
Mudhoney interviwed by Stanley Kubrick...cool
Excellent chat. Gotta love some Milo.
Mate your very inspirational 👏 thanks 4 the chat brother
Fook thigh countrieeee
Back in the 90's I spent a week in London and ran into these guys in a hotel pub after midnight. I made the mistake of saying that I had to get up at 7 for a flight over to Frankfurt. The beer and shots became non-stop and you better believe I missed my flight! I didn't talk to Will too much but he was decent enough to act as translator for another mate who's Scot accent was so thick that I could not communicate with him. A very fun night.
Kenny mentioned getting stopped at the Japanese airport, so they toured Japan? I've never heard that before - also I can't find any info on the shows
RIP James. Thanks for your channel
RlP James. Thanks for all your great questions and fascinating insight. You will be missed
besides the Wild Swans contribution - the band Baltic Fleet was another one of Will's greatest bands/songs. I also dug Poltergiest, as well - but it needed a few more hits, streaming fiendly songs. I think they were out prior to the Spotify wave.
Though I am just a fan, and obviously not a band member, I would much prefer the name had been changed to 'British Sea Power Notably In The Period Following The 1807 Slave Trade Abolition Act, In Which Time The British Navy Was Dispatched To Intersept Slave Trader Vessels At Huge Cost To The British Public For More Than Two Centuries After. Or... BSPNITPFT1STAA,IWTTBNWDTISTVAHCTTBPFMTTCA... for short.
Thanks, James. What a wonderful, humane and insightful podcast. Subbed
The way he said "I'm sorry" at 18:00 😅 as if he hasn't said a thousand times how much of a bastard he can be lol
Ummmm reading comments all about Will and Ian. Tell ya what, for me the the bassist and drummer are huge part of this band. That Albert Hall concert is cool. The bassist and drummer are off the charts.
Lovely interview. Subbed !
Everyone Loves Will he was a massive part of the Bunnymen Sound, gone totally off Mac, he's a turd of a human
I remember this guy from the everyman theatre bar downstairs back in the day,he was a very nice lad.l know ian broudie and joey who was in his band the wild swans also nice lads l hope they are all doing well.
rip steve albini, steve kille
Lee Mavers tried and did not fail. The La's are as important as Shack, Echo and the Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes etc. Lee Beefhearted himself.....
Deserves more views, Simon is a legend.
This is so brave and so truthful. Can’t wait to see you live at the Phil next month.
you and andrew just keep being yourselves.. luv yas
I hope John had taken a bet on how many times he could fit "you know" into an interview.
I love Graham's candid and kind nature. Blur have always been an immense inspiration, especially his guitar work on the album 13. Great interview.
Being English is shameful now! I know what she means but seriously we need to stand up for British values we like not shirk away because of some racist wallies
Amazing guy and musician 🙌 John Power 🔋 💪 🙌
Loved this, what a great podcast...love to hear about Miles. Regarding younger audience, I took my daughter to watch The Wonderstuff in Manchester last year, and she loved it so much we are going again this December.
Half way through wills bunny man book sitting in car in a nice valley near me with my guitar and last sun of the year. Nice to have the enigma of not knowing in the beginning, now good to hear a life behind the man and I’m sixty so relate to a lot of the book.nice man and what a unique guitar player.looking forward to the rest of the book.
cant believe i hadnt found this until now
As a big Wonderstuff fan back in the late 80s early 90s I had a friend who worked in a job centre in Walsall at the time. She told me that a woman she worked with there was Miles Hunt's mom 👍✌😎
