Want to start making progress on the guitar again? I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old and never stopped. Back in 2014 I realized my playing hadn’t improved since high school. After revisiting the basics of technique and music theory, along with a ton of practice, I’m slightly less ashamed to say I’ve been playing for over 20 years. Learning how to properly set up my guitars has been a big help, too.
Time for a guitar gear detox - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS)
I don't usually cave into GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), but this time the pressure was too much. While I held out until the first batch of Wampler Germanium Tumnus pedals were sold out, I did manage to preorder one from the second (and apparently final) batch. I'm sure I'll love it when it arrives in January 2024. But this high-pressure marketing for limited edition guitars, pedals, and other products is getting to be too much for me. Hopefully, this video will keep you from buying more junk you don't need.

After years of being ampless, I bought into the hype and got the Blonde Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. I was sick of using modeling software with headphones all the time. While the Deluxe may be overkill for guitar practice and recording at home, the Tone Master series offers a lot of modern features and conveniences that make it appealing even if you aren't planning on gigging anytime soon....
