Old Fashioned Revival Hour Chorus: O Little Town of Bethlehem (c. 1955)
Partial rendition of the carol written by the American preacher Phillips Brooks in 1868.
O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep, the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light!
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary; and, gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wond'ring love.
O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth!
And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth!
(How silently, how silently the wondrous gift is giv'n!
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heav'n!
No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.)
O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray!
Cast out our sin, and enter in! Be born in us today!
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell -
O come to us! Abide with us, our Lord, Emmanuel!

Found in a Langley, B.C. pawn shop. Alton and Rabon Delmore were were able to successfully incorporate gospel, hillbilly and country and blues influences in their music, and had a big influence on Bob Dylan. Their tight vocalizing is sure hard to forget once it’s in your memory.

From a collection of 78s by the Golden Gate Quartet discovered in a second-hand store somewhere in Washington State. As they are one of the great gospel quartets of all time, I could not resist taking all of them (seven in all).

She's a hard-boiled mama with no sympathy The coldest gal in New Orleans. She never has a sentimental feeling, Though she's only in her flaming teens! Likes a good time, plenty of action Lovers, to her, are no attraction. But she'll make 'em spend and dig down in their jeans Way beyond their means! She should be an Eskimo And show 'em what frigid means - Way up north in the land of snow And pol...

This is a real toe-tapper! I'm surprised it didn't make it on to the 1946 Billboard Top Singles!
Personally I like the scream at 1:18! Best, Ted

Being from Texas, l'm old enough to know who Bob Wills was. Didn't know they had a track with the title as that dope smoking hippie group from over there in England.
Totally different based on a true story outta the Montreux jazz festival
Awesome
Thank you for listening! Best, Ted

Thanks so much for the info!

She was my wife's aunt.
In VERY loving memory of Overseer Ernestine Bonds (1928 - 2016 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).
Never heard of Wilbur Sweatman, but I like this recording and another recording of his from 1919 (Slide, Kelly, Slide). Both recordings had a strong syncopated melody. Both typical of their period in early jazz. Thanks for uploading.
What a great swing number - perfect for dancing!
I like this...the performance is intense, and imagine the nerve it took to even attempt this kind of music 🎶
Quel beau souvenir!
merci
The music of my childhood

La famille Soucy... un trésor patrimonial. Fernando était un excellent folkloriste. Malheureusement, nous n'avons pas gardé de document vidéo de cette époque.
