The two best Visvim jackets from FW23!
Excellent informative video - well done
Great video as always! The jacket is beautifully described! This colourway really stands out.
Appreciate that, it's a great color!
Great vid!
Thanks!
You got a very good one. Also they release twice a year. Black Friday and new years.
Thanks! I recalled drops in previous years but I didn’t recall them dropping on New years off the top of my head as of late. Appreciate you helping keep the community informed. 🤝
Thanks for talking about all these products, it’s really insightful. ❤
Thanks for watching!
Yeah!!🎉🎉🎉

Such a great pair!
Great video! Getting kicked at Disneyland? Just imagine if you kicked back!!!
Hahaha thankfully it was my kids kicking me mostly. Thanks for tuning in!
Great storytelling bro! It's like me sitting down with you with my cup of coffee on a laid back day just listening to your Visvim journey while making my own recollection of some brands that I follow now.
Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the feedback.🤝
That’s not a hiking boot 😂 Those are work boots, wear work socks with them. I’m a boot fan and I’ve been wearing loggers for 20’years and never heard of these. Upon looking up the price I’m kind of embarrassed for you fellas who would spend so much on fashion to look like you were working class. I felt bad spending for my Whites boots because of how expensive they are, but I could’ve bought 4 or 5 pairs of PNW loggers for what you paid for these boots that have fake work wear on them. I’ll sell you an old pair of my boots with genuine work wear for half the price 😂 They’re cool man, but the fashion work wear scene just doesn’t make sense to me.
Fair point. My dad is an immigrant, working class much like yourself. His style kind of inspired my appeal towards workwear too. I’m torn cus I also like designer stuff lol the price is definitely ridiculous, you’ll hear no arguments from me there! These are definitely a “want” purchase and not a “need”. Trust me, I feel foolish too 😂 thanks for tuning in man!
@ boot is definitely cool. Thanks. For bringing them to my liking room through your channel. Keep producing!
Yo!!! I STILL have those SBs with the leopard inside. I can’t get rid of em. Great vid and insights man.
Great to see someone else appreciates that era! Crazy how we all had similar paths. Thank you for tuning in Alex.
Man, how good was the era of the early dunk SBs. Wish Nike would do something similar again! So fun.
Totally agree! That was a good time.
Awesome video!! Love hearing the stories of influence. No doubt this video has inspired all of us to reflect on our own story. These stories shape the visvim community and really set it apart.
Really appreciate that Ev, the community is one of my favorite parts!
Great video man. Very similar stories from growing up in Southern California and being into sneakers and street wear to graduating from college and switching up styles to fit your age and lifestyle. Hope you keep the channel going. I live in Colorado now and just feel like it’s a place for boots and Americana/heritage style. FBT was also my first Visvim piece. It was the Red Deer version in brown from END clothing. Still have them to this day and bought more FBTs. Still looking to buy a pair in sand. I just picked up a pair of Brigadiers in sand. I think it’s Visvims best color in suede. Also have a pair of TWO boots in sand lol.
Such a great story as well! Thank you for the kind words. They sand color ways are definitely versatile and clean too.
Great Video! I really enjoyed your story, thanks for sharing!
@itsthatoftwhite thank you for tuning in!
Darn tough socks!! Get hot spots but no blisters really. Plus if you get holes they replace them.
Will look into them, thank you!

Hey, I was one of visvim fans as well, just curious that why they produced their shoes in China rather than Japan?
Hey, valid question! Most likely due to cost. I’ve read and have heard from multiple sources that the China factory they use is one of the best in the world and one of the few that still offers a hand sewn good year welt for “mass” production. I think in the same way not everything Made in the USA, Italy, Japan is perfect, not everything made in China is trash either.
Do you find that FBT is true to size too?
I have pairs from 2017 and some recent releases. The pairs from earlier I could wear a size 11 in with no issue, my tts. However, some of the newer releases run a bit narrow. If you have regular feet, I would get TTS. If you have wide feet, I would size up .5 size.
@ could you do an iris or Sanjuro video?
my biggest regret was not getting these when they went on sale near me :(
I feel that! They occasionally pop up on the 2nd hand market.
The sole version on these are so much better than the 2024… still thinking about copping the 2024 version nonetheless. Would you say they fit TTS? I’m usually a size 40 in designers but the smallest size Visvim does is 41…
The 2024 version is pretty nice too, but I agree. The sole on this pair is great! I would say they run TTS.
@ think I’ll pull the trigger on the 2024 brown decoy boots as my first Visvim pair!
These are overpriced designer fashion boots. Nothing about the construction or leather quality justifies the costs. I looked at website for 30 seconds before realizing its no different than looking at Balenciaga. Noticed the slanted heel, your feet are going to slide forward without a shank or something holding it in place. Bad design. No PNW companies make slanted heels like this for this exact reason
These definitely lean more towards fashion than a PNW boot and reflects that: However, the leather quality and construction is up there! I also prefer this design vs traditional logger boots.
I would argue that no footwear above $200 justifies the cost. A regular person that's not kicking shovels or working with concrete can easily get ten years out of a pair of timberlands, Ariat etc. the thing is that we buy certain things because we like how they look, how they feel and most importantly how they make us feel.
@Marx_Ramone yeah, this is just wrong lol.
Sharp boots, i was suprised to see they are GYW instead of stitchdown!
Thank you. Most recent visvim boot releases feature a GYW.
The heel isdues are partially due to not tieing the speed hoeded upper correctly. You can adjust how the heel is locked in right . Look up videos on how to tie and break in logger boots ( which these try to emulate ) . You will NEVER get a correct fit without correct lacing.
Thank you!
You just need to learn how to tie a boot with SPEED HOOKS". If done correctly they dont come loose or flop around . It does take breaking in the uppers for ANY lacing to work right on taller uppers .
Im not tring to hate, but these might be some of the ugliest boots I have ever seen
Hahaha, no worries. I know the design is not for everyone.
Really love the Buc-ee's ending! Felt like I was there with you in spirit!!!
where can I purchase the grizzly model? only in japan?
Hey, you can purchase here in the US from visvim directly. There’s also the recently released grizzly camper folk available at multiple retailers worldwide.
I once had the grizzly mid in black, awesome boots.
They sure are! Do you remember what year or style number they were?
@ can’t remember the exact style number but they were the black grizzly mid FW 2016.
You might as well rope these in with Doc Martens. You’re paying for the label. There is absolutely NO reason for these to cost double what a pair of PNW boots cost. No matter how you cut it, you got got.
Sure, I could understand that sentiment. Very often, items are not worth their retail price. However, I prefer the silhouettes of visvim over PNW brands. An important thing to keep in mind, visvim pays a 40-50% tariff on its products that come here to the U.S. The retail in Japan is comparable with PNW brands. However, I’m okay with paying U.S. retail if it gives me the added piece of mind of authenticity. Brands like visvim are often counterfeited.
I mostly agree with your sentiment but there's a situation in which this doesn't really matter. The argument for silhouette is slightly weak in my opinion because every brand has their take on what the logger looks like. You can customize most brands' offerings from leather selection to the width of the boot. I'm not sure on if most brands offer the leather combo that this cossack pair does, so there's that. Then there's the distressing. This is really where it becomes apparent that we shouldn't really be comparing PNW loggers with visvim's version. A PNW customer doesn't care for that. To my knowledge, most loggers are still used for working in the trade. These are boots that attempt to stay within the build quality of PNW boots but are ultimately a fashionable piece of footwear. The situation in which this doesn't matter is the one that might be true. Visvim_pioneer is a person with disposable income that enjoys dressing in workwear/americana/heritage clothing. That's essentially visvim's target demographic. Yes, he could buy actual PNW boots, but then there's the awkward discussion of cosplay and working class appropriation if the above situation is correct. It makes sense that he makes this purchase because it does seem that he knows that these are fashionable boots and not boots made to be worked in. Should he fly to Japan and buy the bigger ticket items there while on a nice trip? Sure, but I've got a feeling he prefers the convenience of walking into the LA store and securing items he likes rather than hoping to find them in Japan.
Agreed, especially when you have so many options from Nicks. Not to mention you're not going to beat their quality or their durability. That's just a lace to toe boot.
You literally hit the nail on the head with this comment! I know they’re more of a fashion piece vs the actual function of a PNW boot. I enjoy going to the store, talking with the staff, and have made good friendships through this hobby. I know this also exists for other collecting circles, I have family members that are well connected with white’s, wesco, Brian the boot maker, JL, etc, but I don’t feel as strong of a connection with the brands. I do hope to one day purchase a few though!
This is a fair sentiment to have. I personally prefer the overall look of visvim though. Because they are a fashion brand and not a workwear brand, I believe the boots can be worn a lot more casually especially when paired with their clothing items. I have considered getting a pair of Nick’s or Wesco’s, but then you have to deal with wait times that can stretch from 1-2 years.
Thumbs up for spongebob season 1 throwback
Goated season.
Why these over PNW Boots? 🤔
Great question. I personally prefer the silhouettes visvim offers. I also like the damage that has been done to the boots before wearing them. I’m also a fan of the brand in general so I have a bias there.
What shades are you wearing around that 13 minute review point? Also really love this vid. These boots are absolutely beautiful and love to hear the honest experience throughout too. So tempted to snag a pair in the future. Also appreciate the mention of step count too, gives great perspective. Keep making any video you can documenting visvim boots and I'll be watching 👌
Hey Matt, thanks for tuning in! I appreciate the support. I’m wearing the Jacques Marie Mage Vendome in the Havana 7 colorway. Yeah, I think this might be the only video discussing them on the internet. Wondering why they haven’t been as popular as other releases. I would definitely recommend picking them up. Yeah, the steps added up after 30 days. I felt like including it would give a better understanding of the amount I was wearing them. I won’t have a new boot until Jan/Feb when my orders come in, but I will have more visvim shoes and clothing reviews releasing.
@vsvm_pioneer awesome appreciate the info! Looking forward to more
🎉🎉🎉
My hunt for these turned into an unhealthy obsession 😂 Also was this a 2021 or 2022 release?
Lol I feel you. 2021
*2022
Great story! Visited Carmel store for the 1st time last month from overseas, great location and friendly staff! Please keep sharing your Visvim stories in the future, great videos!
Thank you very much, I appreciate you tuning in.
No Virgil’s? Or grizzly? Come on son
Check the full video fam.
How’s sizing on the Grizzly boots?
I stick TTS but they do run .5-1 full size big.
Just wondering how you look after these as they are mud dyed. Do use use a leather conditioner, also how do you look after the other boots in general?
Great question. Ive only had to use leather conditioner on my ICT TWO boots because that leather dried out. It depends on how often I wear them. For the most part I don’t baby my boots, I just dust them off if they have excess dirt. No issues so far.
Great story! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for tuning in!
❤
Love it! Can’t wait for my pair. The ending was genius, was that the same guy from the two boot video?
Highly recommend them. Yes it was!
@@vsvm_pioneer😂
Where did you get your frames? I was thinking of doing the same thing with my bandanas aha
I got them from IKEA on sale in 2020. I wasn’t able to find the frame again, so I bought a similar one from Blick’s for other rooms in my home.
I really love the story telling time! It makes me feel like I was there with you in spirit!!
Thank you Alex!
Great video! Aiming to get the 73 Hole 73 Folk. I'm a size US10 in Virgils and Brigadiers. Do you think a US10 would be good for me in the 73 Hole?
Thank you for tuning in. What year and color are you looking to get? It would fit, but the boot will fit wide. Most people size down .5 size - full size. I personally went with my normal size 11 because I didn’t mind the wider fit.
Oh I’m looking at the current one available on the visvim site today in dark brown. Looks similar to yours but with lesser destressing to the front. Yeah I’ve heard that people size down by 0.5. I’ve got a wide flat foot, so naturally I prefer abit of space in my shoes. Is it really a lot of space in the toe box for you? Also is the length fine or longer too?
That’s the one I have. It doesn’t bother me and honestly made it so that I didn’t really have to break them in. Length is a little longer too.
@@vsvm_pioneer ah I see so it’s roomy in the toe box but not to the point that your feet are swimming in the boot right? Like it’s still manageable without too much heel slippage and all?
Great video as always. So glad you posted the Kainai boots since no one else has, one of my favorites from Visvim also. It’s impossible to find a 12 now
Thank you for checking out the video and for sure you should try and buy them if you can. They’re criminally underrated. I’ll maybe do a more thorough video of them in the coming months:
Sick collection! You ever consider any Pacific NorthWest brands like Nicks and Whites and others? Or are you specifically going for a Vis collection? Interested to see the rest of your collection. Super dope seeing their pieces in more detail. You’re great on camera too man, keep it up
Thank you Alex, I appreciate the kinds words and feedback. It always feels unnatural for me to talk to the camera, but glad the videos are enjoyable lol I honestly have been diving into visvim pretty heavily. The boots make up a minority in my collection. I have considered nick’s, whites, wesco, and have been watching a lot of content surrounding PNW brands. I’ve considered other brands too like John Lofgren, attractions, RDT, moto(r), but haven’t gotten around to it. There’s so many cool boots out there and I realize I’ve only now just started to scratch the surface.
@@vsvm_pioneer ‘tis a deep and expensive rabbit hole hahaha so many brands worth checking out. Does your job allow you to wear this casual of stuff? I can get away with classing up a few more rugged pieces but I need to dress a little more “smart” so I’ve been getting a good deal of tailored clothes lately too. Hey another expensive journey lol
Hahaha you don’t say. I work in the marketing department at my company so yes I can get away with dressing pretty casual lol I typically wear what I wear on camera to work
Awesome video man! Recently got the 7 hole 73 Folk boots myself and I've been very very happy with them. The boots are my first Visvim piece too!
That’s what’s up! What year and color?
@@vsvm_pioneer Got the SS 17 Beige ones. Dunno what I got myself into man, now I'm planning a Japan trip just to get more pieces from Visvim LOL.
Hahaha same here! The 2017 release was nice!
I love your version of the 7 Hole, it has the best damage processing much better than the stock photo version.
Thank you, I think I prefer the stock photo one lol
thanks for review, love it! but strange to see no brigadiers in the collection. any reasons why?
Thank you for tuning in! Valid question, there’s been a few pairs of brigs that I’ve wanted to buy. I tried on the pair from ICT and they fit great. I don’t own a pair yet because I try not to spend too much all at once. Each one of these purchases is pretty expensive and I can’t justify buying new pairs on a monthly basis. Plus, this gives me time to put in multiple wears and break in the pairs I do own. I plan to add a brig to my collection next year.
@@vsvm_pioneer thanks for your reply! Of course I do understand your point, I just thought that you have something to say against them as you already have pretty broad collection without them in it.
That makes sense, I could see why it might seem that I have something against them lol but no, I will get a pair next year. I also have a new model coming in Jan/Feb 2025 that I’m excited to show you guys!
