If I had a welding machine, I would make my own welding cart, that's the reason to own a welding machine,to save money and make your own things the way you like .
Fair, but if you value your time more than money, and I do, the best fit for that lifestyle is buying something this cheap and effective. I understand wanting to build everything, but at this point in my career, it just doesn't make sense. Plus my hourly shop rate plus materials surpasses the cost of this lil guy.
@@JeffEstesBuilds good point!Makes sense.
If I use this on my utility trailers I build before I paint them what grit would I wanna use so when it's painted the paint looks better and sticks better?
Great question. If I was looking at clean metal and wanted some added adhesion, I would consider scuff sanding at 220 grit uniformly and ensuring it is thoroughly cleaned and degreased before priming. One of the biggest issues with painting "new and clean" metal with hot or cold rolled steel is the mill scale and oil; oxides and oils left embedded on the surface from the milling process. Sanding and degreasing will make a huge difference in how your paint finishes out. Hope this helps and best of luck!
@JeffEstesBuilds @JeffEstesBuilds oh man thank you cause yes it does have mill scale and I got some acetone for the oils. I use c-channel, square tubing and angle with some flat stock. Thank you I haven't gotten a orbital grinder yet but when I seen your video I added it to my Amazon shopping cart. Last question, so it just plugs up and goes, their is no air hoses to worry about and would this work long term if I'm building 20 trailers a month using it daily on all the parts before i weld it together? On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a hobby use and 10 being industrail, what would you rate it? And what is scuff sanding?
@@LightUp2020 scuff sanding just means a light sand, no serious grinding (like you would to flatten a weld). This can be done by hand or machine. If you don't have dust extraction do your best to clean the metal post-sanding. Festool sanders are designed to work with their CT dust extraction systems, which make life much better in a shop. cleaner, healthier and prevents sandpaper from burning out too fast. The have power supply and a port for this dust ectraction hose. Acetone is great but use nitrile gloves or protection for your hands as it can absorb into your blood through the skin. Proper ventilation and a maks help too, it adds up in the lungs. A traditional grinder is probably better for flattening welds but this festool is great man, it opens you up to wood applications as well!
@@LightUp2020 One last thing, on a scale of 1-10 as a sander, this is a 10 in my book. For metal grinding probably a 2 to a 3, metal sanding a 7-10 depending on intended use.
@JeffEstesBuilds yeah I just got a respiratory with 3m 2091 filters and I seen that vacuum that goes with the orbital and it looks worth getting for sure. I'm 37 and when you mentioned the older you get your more concerned about the air i total agree cause I feel the same now days. Thanks for all the information I think we will get this for our shop for sure.
Used it to set 2 fence posts. Works great!
Perfect application, so fast and easy on the spinal column!
Honestly I love it
Does the job!
Really helpful. Thank you.
Glad to hear, best of luck on your builds!
Hrust Holeum.🤟🏻
Exactly.
Harmful cem dumping or nah ?
I would put cardboard down beneath it and dispose of properly once done. Now a days I really do my best to avoid chemicals after all the info coming out about cleaners etc.
Ok to do in you drive way?
Cardboard underneath for sure, and to expand on the other question, it doesn't smell or look like its great for the environment or your health. Mask and gloves for sure.
But - is it stainable? In certain instances this is great! But for something decorative/indoors (table, furniture, etc) - how would you make it unnoticeable?
Great question. I would tint the powder with whatever color you want it to be (with another powder base dye or natural element) because it does not stain well. Just be careful of fire hazard!
I think most will agree that epoxy is better than CA last longer stronger not as brittle, etc. there is a five minute epoxy and I don’t know how it compares to regular epoxy, but I am using whatever epoxy I can get a hold of and mixing it with a product called fillet Which is a super fine sawdust like filler designed to mix with epoxy and thicken it which looks better than sawdust sands better than sawdust and I think it’s just overall superior to CA glue, which I don’t trust to be strong in the long run sold by West company to their boaters customers who use it to get a few more years out of Weatherwood by filling in all the cracks
Definitely have a few gallons of fast and slow set epoxy in the shop and don't disagree with you, I have not seen either one fail yet in the environment so I can't say for sure which lasts longer. Cheers.
Would wood filler be OK?
Not for a check or true split in the grain. Usually a significant check requires a key or inlay crossing grain direction to terminate the advancement of the split. Usually holes and knots only for filler.
will this hold a miller 110 mig, and a large tank? This might exceed it's weight rating
Not sure what the weight on that unit is but on the tank 125-300 size your looking at 62-134 lbs give or take. To be honest I don't know its weight rating but might bump up a size in carts based on how this one moves around the shop....lil Bambi legged.
@@JeffEstesBuilds Thank you
Beautiful work, i don't know what the market is like in usa for Brown Furniture, but i UK,vslue dropped like a stone about 15years ago. Can get some beautiful pieces for nearly nothing.
I make CNC carved ornaments, 95% of my materials is recycled/upcycled from furniture. It's already shrunk, it's stable, & usually straight & flat. It's better than it going to dump!
Agree 100%. Building is probably one of the most wasteful industries out there, plenty of resources for free or cheap if we get creative.
Doesn't Festool track ome with a square and clamp to stop anything moving during cut?
They make one for sure, I just don't want to spend that money at the moment for something I do so often with this method. I would love to own one though, they look fast and effective.
What type of glue was in the tube?
Gorilla Super Glue Gel, good to have in a bind for quick cure.

You ever tried it on rust welded bolts? Got a downpipe I’m trying to get off my 03 Duramax and it’s a pain in the rear, I’ve tried all kinds of penetrating fluids.
I have not, usually anything locked up I spray it with Kroil and heat it. I would imagine in spaces where you can't get leverage for a tool its worth a shot. If you do it let me know how it pans out.

Glad you like it, definitely beats epoxy in my book!
How long in general does it take for CA Glue to dry completely such that you can use a vacuum to suck-in loose waste particles? How do you most efficiently create saw dust? Sander on Compressed wood? What is the best way to buy CA Glue in quantity? Anyone can answer these questions if they like
It’s on sale for $40 now, but it only takes one tank. How do you secure the welder to the cart?
Gravity for the welder, straps and chains for the tank. Worth $40 for sure
Never thought of it but love the idea.
Thanks Jeff. Straight to the point.
Cheers.

I remember my father's old mazda b2000 that had rusted floor boards as bad or worse than i seen here. He replaced them with the outer jacket from an old water heater, and held it together with rivets. 🤣 Better than braking Fred Flinstone style. 😂 He drove it until the metal around both hinges on the door rusted off. 🤣

I gotta do some research on that. I would assume not as well as it would to wood but let me do some digging.

Love to hear this, so happy it worked out for you! It truly is something to take with you for life. Cheers!
You can’t be serious when you said fiberglass…. 😂😂😂
Sadly, yes, yes I was. BUT, I replaced the whole pan some months later, she was beyond repair. I just cut some sheet metal and welded it in there with my mig.
I think it removes surface rust which the scrubbing and water could have done
I think if you’re building products or a professional welder, you’d need a proper welding table. I look at this as a home handyman welding table that is used occasionally. It isn’t meant for heavyweight, professional welding .
No argument there, it is indeed a great table for home, hobby and DIY use. In our metal shop we welded our own tables and had the tops cnc cut with holes for clamps and locks. For the backyard builder though sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I will say it makes a fantastic catch all for your metal tools 😂
Making a big (4'x9') interior barn door (closing off bath from bedroom)... I'm not skilled at anything besides rough carpentry (where small gaps aren't a huge deal), and so I was excited to find and try this technique. I found it filled the gaps very nicely. However, removing the dried glue has been a lot of work. I've been sanding for hours and I'm still worried that when I stain it, the stain will look funky if/where I failed to get rid of traces of glue. In retrospect I'm not sure that letting the glue dry and cure before removing is a best practice. I've been reading tips about removing glue ASAP because it comes off easier before it is cured. Thus, I wish I'd maybe tried removing the excess by scraping it off with a chisel or wiping it off with a rag and denatured alcohol. Any feedback about that? I can see that if the glue isn't cured the wedge may move as you chisel off the excess. But, really, this glue removal is a huge pain. Might be worth the risk. Also, my door is supposed to be a rustic piece when finished, i.e. the boards haven't been planed for uniformity. So, in some sections a portion of a board is a bit higher than the adjoining board. Filling a gap here -- Ugh! The dried glue issue becomes especially difficult because it's essentially in a crevice--hard to get at. I'd offer a hint of: Do whatever is needed to sand/plane the adjoing surfaces before glueing in a wedge. Anyway, glue issues notwithstanding, thanks for the tip! I'm anxious to get on with the staining and see how it turns out.
Hey thanks for this report, I totally understand where you are coming from at this phase of the build. I would start off by agreeing glue is a huge PAIN to clean post-dry and usually I do my best to wet-rag the excess off after clamping, wedging or joining boards. For post dry chisels work but you gotta be really careful with grain direction as well as your personal safety. Sanding with the proper tool, extraction and grit will most likely be your best bet but keeping patient as to not dish or dive the sander is essential. If your project surface is not flat, this becomes increasingly difficult. For example if your boards are different thicknesses this becomes really time consuming to sand between. In this event, I back drag a scraper or razor blade gently and remove the excess glue with a hard edge. This is a great method that you can adjust the size of the scraper and get into the small cracks or dips on the surface. One last thing you can do is water pop the grain to try and discover hidden glue before you stain. This will really save you from having to sand through stain which is a biiiiig bummer. Please let me know how this turns out and best of luck!
Would you sell me your dust bag? Please

I have a 5 ft x 7 ft 1.5 inch thick Douglas fir table that developed two full length cracks that run 7ft and 1.5 in deep. These deep cracks are not straight either. They run along an in and out pattern. What do you recommend.
Interesting. The first thing I would check is the attachment method of the top to the base. Perhaps there is not enough room for the table to expand and contract during the seasonal changes. Table top "z"clips or attachment clips are great because they hold vertical force while allowing for horizontal expansion. It is also worth checking the moisture content of the wood to make sure your sub 10% or it will continue to contract as it dries out. If it is too tightly secured with no room to move it will crack. Once you eliminate or discover the threat or a cause, you can see what the table does with movement over a week or two (let it settle where it wants to be) and cut some wedges. Unfortunately you will have to "chase" the check by basically hammering in the wedges with glue, gently, as you can. You might get an 8" stretch at a time, maybe 18" but just be patient and let the glue set up properly before breaking them off/ cutting them flush. Let me know how it goes!
