Ep. 5.17: Greg Lee on Mass Incarceration
In this episode, Dr. Greg Lee, Associate Professor of Theology and Urban Studies at Wheaton College, discusses Augustine and Mass Incarceration. Much of Dr. Lee’s work appropriates Augustine as a resource for addressing contemporary issues of church and society. A resident of the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, he is especially interested in urban questions of race and class, which he approaches from a distinctly Asian American perspective. WTS student and Wheaton grad Anna Erickson sat down with him.
This conversation comes as a follow-up to the event sponsored by Western Theological Seminary and Hope College‘s Saint Benedict Institute: www.westernsem.edu/an-augustinian-theology-of-mass-incarceration/

The use of color to label people widely allows individuals to divide themselves by those colors. It’s an old manipulation tool. “The only lives that truly matter are those who respect the lives of others”.

Overstatement: "I felt like you were pastoring our congregation. . ." THE holy spirit is tge guiding voice of the Church.. .this is ex-evangelical postmodernism at its worst.

I have to keep quoting this verse in order to not become distressed and threaten my faith: “…I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18 I trust and pray this is true!

Very interesting interview and I have the book The Story of Christian and it’s very readable and hugely informative. I am puzzled however why Pastor González would list Theresa of Avila amongst the people he would like to talk to. Irenaeus, Augustine, Athanasius, I get. I would love to be enlightened. Many thanks for the interview.

Thanks so much for the great interview. After reading Rebeccas book "What They Meant For Evil" I went in search of what interviews I could find on UA-cam. I eventually contacted Rebecca about doing an interview and video with her myself as well. I hope more people find and read her book and that she continues speaking at events. ua-cam.com/video/xzWQ7jdYAOQ/v-deo.html

I would think a sacramental worship service with a set liturgy is good for those with autism, based on the need for regularity. Actually, I think it would be good for all of us! 😊

This interview and conversation obviated some of the most widespread issues that preachers and pastors experience. It is both encouraging and necessary to know that there are other men and women of God who experience the pressures of ministry and have to live through the issues of life while trusting God to keep their passion alive for ministry. God bless you Dr. Thomas!

Dr. Richard Allinger reinforces the need for the continuation of the Reformation which started five centuries ago for the following six reasons cited in his book "The Reformation Cannot Be Over !": i. God speaks today. ii. Theologians make mistakes. iii. New issues require new thinking. iv. Scriptures must have priority over confessions. v. The right of private judgment. vi. Above all, it is important that we engage in the process of (semper reformada) "always reforming" in the proper spirit and manner.

the earth is entering an ice age. climate change is a natural process where by the earth cycles between warn phases and cold phases. as a result of this the earth goes through process that makes this change possible. to start the process that brings the complete change the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphire rise. this is caused by under sea volcanic activity that releases co2. next the magnetic field that surround the earth and protects the earth from solor radiation begins to weaken. as a result the north pole starts to recieve solor radiation and this causes the glaciers to begin to receed. the atmosphere begins to increase in levels of water vapor. alot of rain must fall in order to cover the earth with ice. scientist know we are going into an ice age for these reasons. core samples are taken from the glaciers and studying them they learn the weather history of the earth. from these core samples we know how long a winter lasted how much rain fell and what gases were in the atmosphire. other core samples showed how the earths natural magnets goes from a very strong magnetic field to a week magnetic field and to a complete reversal in the magnetic field. as recorded in these samples prior to an ice age the magnetic field always weakens the atmosphire begins to build high levels of water vapor and volcanic activities in crease releasing co2 gases. consider this as evidence prior to the last ice age co2 gases increased significantly and there was not any automobiles or factory or industrial activities. also consider this a man was found in the alps his body was discovered as the glaciers receded. acareful examination of him revealed that he had been living in that area over 50 thousand years ago. at a time when instead of a glacier being there instead the area was covered with vegetation. the ice age happened fast and he was caught in the sudden weather change and intumbed in ice. today the cycle is ready to repeat itself. the time between ice ages can be measured with the ice core samples the space between ice ages measures the same going back ice age before ice age before ice age. what about today? the measured distance from last ice age to today shows the new ice age can start any day. now on a bibical note if you look at the altitude of russia and alaska they are the same. this means russia must come down from the north in order to live. this was fortold in revelations now you know what will bring them down. however the united nations is now pushing for america to be enslaved this means eliminating ownership of private property and contain the people into enclaves they have been working towards this goal for some time. and their method is to discise their activities as environmental protection. they use false science to convience people that unless they give up their rights the planet is doomed. i would strongly recommend that you take some time to study about what you just read. get the facts and speak with knowledge and authority. avoid jumping on the enviornent band waggon. also google utube videos about agenda 21. this is about the united nations taking control of our government and usimg it to implement its global agenda.God bless
