The Hudl camera

It is a Pix4Team with a Cannon HF G50 on it. The time and scoring is built in to the Pix4Team.

@@ericfield3414 Thanks. I have been looking at them right now. I tried xBot and had several tracking issues. I tried FullCourt AI, but it's geared more towards highlights and is not great for full game viewing. The best I've come up with is using a combo of iPhones that I can stitch together in Final Cut Pro. Here is a game I did last weekend. It takes more time to import, export and upload to UA-cam than I'm guessing your setup does, but it only takes me about 45 minutes to "cut" together. Yes. This is with the most recent firmware update. You can see that it has gotten better from the last video you commented on but it still is not perfect. It still misses a lot, especially quick transitions.

How high have the tripod setup

It gets better with every software update they push. Almost all the video is ai. The only time I turn it off is occasionally on set pieces. With out action and movement on the field it doesn't always know where to look. That does appear to have gotten better though with the last update

It does get better with every update but it doesn't track the ball it tracks the movement of play on the field so it definitely misses stuff when the ball moves ahead of the general play

It gets better with every update that they push. Its not quite perfect yet but I feel it has a lot of potiential.

Hey Eric, thanks for posting this! It's 9 months later. Is it still working and are the updates making it better? How often do they update the system to I improve it? Pix4team claims that these UA-cam videos are not good because they did not set up their systems correctly. Would you say there is some truth to that or is just that the AI still needs more development?

Yes. There was a software update to the robot and the control app on Friday. Update both of those. I was using a beta version of the software that allowed the auto zooming. That should have been included in the most recent update.

Yeah the set up of the robot and camera to the field ends up being much more important than you would think. If you don't set it up precisely it struggles to track. I have sent several videos to them to get feed back and they always respond and point out errors in my set up. Each one gets a little bit better and they have been very responsive when I have questions.

I have learned to set the camera at least 20 feet back from a 9v9 field or it misses a lot of the action, especially to the left. I want to like the camera, but I just don't think it is ready for primetime. The AI needs a lot more improvement because they tell you it follows the "action" and not "the ball" and if they are going to rely on one camera eye in the unit instead of 2 (like Veo), then they need to place more emphasis on the ball.

@@shawnstrickler I cannot believe that a company that has had all this crowdfunding hasn't worked out the AI glitches for tracking the players with the ball... that is just absurd to me. I would have thought the software was the first thing refined before the hardware was even in production. I don't get it. Unless it's like everything else, " just ship it, we'll figure it out later and push a firmware update" 😡

@@ericfield3414 what kind of setup errors do they say is causing the tracking issues? Does the height of the tripod have anything to do with it? And is 4K recording an issue because that's what I'm planning to record with for zoom in's on highlight clips?

@@sburkowski I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because they cannot test with every camera, but I take your point. I believe the pan/tilt motor is too slow when the action is on the near side of the pitch closest to the camera because it is easy for the action to move up the field faster than the motor can rotate to follow. On the opposite side of the field it is easier to keep up with the action. My two soccer players are both GKs and unless I set up the camera far away and set the zoom to "wide" the camera often doesn't turn to cover shots on goal, which was the main purpose behind buying the camera. The problem is that when I do that, they are but dots on the screen and there is no point in recording.

You set it up for the field size so it performs similarly on smaller fields.

It's a cannon HF G50. There is a firmware update coming to the robot that will fix the zooming because right now it is not zooming in and out correctly

I had this one set in wide mode so I don't know how much it would zoom in that mode.
