Easel sequenced in strange ways with the 1010 blackbox, the Easel Command is left to its own devices. Playing in the space between notes, I can add with the touch control. A satisfying situation, with mixing and effects in Bitwig.

Playing with a crossfade of the sequencer and arpeggiator to control pitch for extra unusual pitch modulation. Delays added in bitwig.

At my portable, battery powered #dawless setup, working out a groove. Roland SH01A for the bass, Korg Volca FM for a lead, Meeblip Geode for another lead, Elektron Model Cycles for the drums and percussion. @1010music Blackbox is the brains of the operation, recording and playing sequences and distributing MIDI. Random crummy delay pedal on the volca FM is chosen more for its size than its sound!

Condensing small parts of different performances over the past weeks, this strips things down to essentials. Most sounds from buchla music easel except the hats and claps channel. Mixed in @bitwig with a poor camera angle ha ha.

Syncing up the Buchla Music Easel with the @WeAreElektron Model Cycles, precarious techno ensues. Recorded in mono, so I dropped it into @bitwig Studio to add some stereo effects with simple multi-band separations.

I multi tracked different arpeggiations on the Buchla Music Easel, then mixed them in Bitwig studio, letting some LFOs do most of the heavy lifting.

Macro Temporal from "3", available on Bandcamp. nbor.bandcamp.com/album/3 A single take through a single looper...but I augmented the performance by taking large chunks of the "unlooped" audio from the synthesizer and and re-arranging it in time against the looped audio.

Hey, very, very nice performance - with a special detail (for me): What kind of connector did you plug into the sustain input of the LEM? Is it possible to switch sustain on and off manually with that connector? I currently use a footswitch for this. I would love to use a hand connector like that. Where can I get one?
Thanks! It's this www.amazon.com/gp/product/B099MZCYRD/ - a toggle switch mounted on a 1/4" plug. Designed for tattoo machines, but useful for the sustain jack as well! It is also possible to use the "latch" feature on the 218 by holding pads 2&3 for a couple seconds. This sustains it, but, unlike the switch, will cancel the sustain on the next key touch.
@@nbor Hey, thanks for that info! That's what I want! I know about the pad combination for latching, but don't find it so much usefull, too. With a pedal (or this great toggle switch!) it is possible to create evolving arpeggios by adding more notes, I like that. Thank you again!
that's a cool setup! Looks like you have steps on one side and pattern select and levels on the other... is that about right?
On the left is steps for drum kit(s). It's the Akai Fire with with the Hawtin/Bitwig script. On the right is a Livid Alias 8 for mixing levels, sends, and track effects. It's also used for channel select. (It used to be that I could "pin" the Fire to the drum rack, but that feature has been buggy lately).

@PicoPizzazz prepare to journey into a gorgeous world of the most beautiful, horrendous, organic, unnatural, primitive & Futuristic sounds you've ever heard. Don Buchla's instruments are endlessly fascinating, on all levels from sounds, philosophy, aesthetic design and even the circuitry. Hope you have fun looking into Buchla and learning! No, it is polyphonic and MPE. The Buchla Easel Command has two oscillators that can be independent, but it is essentially monophonic.
Hi, do you think you could help me with a profile I've created for the 8bitdo sn30 pro? I created the profile using polling data from the "hi" device, updated the profile lookup file, validated both files. Yet when trying to use the device I get no response. It doesn't give the error "no profile for this game controller" so it seems like it sees the file. I also added my profile along side the other profiles in hi_gamepad.js. There are 2 game controller.amxd files, one in the root, and one in the "releases" folder, which one should I be using? Also I wonder if the issue is with the variants system? I feel like I may not have set it up correctly. In the profile I made I put the variant as "windows 11" and the variant id as "1", yet when I select map variations in the m4l device I get the "no profile found" error for each variation in the dropdown. Thank you so much for making this device. I hope I can get it to work.

Yeah, it would be cool. Sadly, in this scheme that relies on the [hi] object, it's not really possible. Ultimately, I think the best way to handle this would be to use SDL to read gamepad input. SDL could be bound in C in an external or in Java. I only came across this recently, and it's currently beyond my abilities!!
