Shiny cars and trucks are cool, but what about all of us that are trying to build on a shoe string budget? I am a firm believer of enjoy it while you fix it, and that's what I do. Whether I am pulling an old truck from a field, a car from a barn or working on one of the drivers, I try to do it as inexpensively as possible to make these old rides go down the road and enjoy them once again.

This week while I'm visiting my Mom and Dad, I try to get my dad's old 1939 Pontiac Coupe up and running! This car has a small block Chevy 327 with a powerglide and has been sitting since 1978, luckily inside a basement garage and later a shop for most of that time. You can find me on... Yeah I was glad I came out I’m dusty by the way I’ll definitely be coming to truckin the trace every year from now on appreciate you talking to me about coming when I ran into you at cruisin brother truckin the trace was a great show enjoyed your video also good to see you again
Awesome! I'm glad you came!
I’d go just for the food😂
That’s like 80% of the reason to go. The trucks and people are a bonus!
Looks like a good time! Hate that I missed it again!
It’s always a great time! Maybe next year
Hey Matt, nice video it was cool seeing all the ppl getting together with some really nice trucks. Im really trying to get the k5 finished because even though I'm in Pa, I'd really would like to come to Tennessee and precipitate in any of them truck shows you said about. Also, it would be really cool to meet you.
There was a couple from New Jersey that came down, so once you get it on the road come on out. You’ll be in good company.
Looking forward to more Steve!!!
Same!
Lookin good. Where did you find toolbox 🧰? Been looking for one for my 91 SQRBDY DUALLY
I can’t remember where I found it. I wanted that specific type and size box so I found a part number and started hunting online for the best price. I think I paid around $150 shipped for it 4 or 5 years ago.
Thx. I'll check Online
Did you check the compression?
Nope, unless you count holding a finger over the open spark plug hole.
Timing is way off
We figured the timing was off, it wasn’t a big deal since all we were going for is to hear it run.
Like A Rock!!!
Heck yeah!
i have a 39 chevy master deluxe and i put an LS in it worth it and good job on getting it running
The rota needs to point at number one
Yeah, it should.
Matt is that old timer pull starter!
Gonna need a longer pull cord!
Hell yeah! That sounded really good! I was hoping for a video on that. That's awesome! Can't wait for next week's video.
That little motor sounded solid! Especially coming out of a 46 year hibernation!
Yeah man that was amazing like you said you can't kill a small block!
They just want to LIVE!
Can't kill a small block!
Why be like the rest, dare to be different and stick a Pontiac motor in it, after all it it a Pontiac.
Dad wants something super reliable with decent power, good on gas, and he's on a budget. The LS fits all the criteria.
@@goodenuffcustoms ls is for fags
Enjoyed video! You answered a couple little questions I had perfectly. From 1 nuts & bolts guy too another, thnx . Got a 89 K5 Im resurrecting .
Appreciate it! Glad it helped and good luck!
I want to see you get your dad's car started
Me too!
Not a matter of should you make it run….. but why isn’t it running yet?🤔😂😂
Agreed!
It's a SBC! If it'll roll over, it'll run! But you should probably prove it just in case... ;)
I think I will!
Man, that would be cool to see that running again! I'd say go for it! I think that would make for a good video
I think so too!
Was your dad planning on keeping the 327?
He’s planning on a 5.3 LS for now.
Good choice 👌
The Holley pump that never dies!! I bought an S10 with 350 back in 06-07, and it was on it for a short time because it was loud! 😆
Actually that’s a new pump, the one I got from you is still around though! I took it off since it was so stinking loud!
Man, if only he had another truck to drive. Glad it wasnt the K5. 😂 I feel your pain. We're helping Aidan replace the rad, water pump and tstat and housing on his car. Sheeesh
Kids, am I right? 🤷🏻♂️
Looking good! Wishing you a safe trip next weekend! Would you mind if I'd share some of my squarebody projects with you?
Thanks, and share away!
Do you have an email I could send my pics too? Unfortunately I don't do socal media, to much drama lol.
goodenuffcustoms@gmail.com
Looks like your insurance man is going to get a raise! Truck is coming along very well!
Yep, not looking forward to the rate increase for sure!
Carpet will cover that
Yeah, I finally looked up the carpet and it is all covered up. Which is great cause now I don't have to worry about it!
Looks awesome you're getting closer to finishing
Thanks, it's slow going but eventually it'll get done!
Why didn't you use the whole floor ...
Couple of reasons, it didn’t need the entire floor replaced and to pull the whole floor and replace it I would have to have pulled the cab. I just don’t have the room to pull the cab off at the moment.
Awesome
Thanks!
Hey im matt, ive been watching alot of your videos and they have really helped me out with my squarebody projects. I have a k5 blazer and k20 truck and they both need rust repair. Watching your video on the blazer floor was awesome i learned alot, now im watching you work on steve , im dealing with similar issues with my k20, so thank you so much for doing the videos there very educational and fun to watch 😊
Thanks! I’m glad it’s helping and good luck on your trucks!
Thank you! I can't wait too see how you fix the fire wall that looks like a challenge.
It ought to be interesting…
Dude!! Way too much talking. I just didnt have time to watch the whole thing although I wanted to.
I am a talker, not much to be done about that. Come back later and watch through when you have the time!
Bruh, I'm a new subscriber. You've done something that most shade tree's never try, much less get it this close. I don't know how much your skills started at. But, like I tell customers all the time, it's basic common sense. Your boy could benefit tons from just watching you work. Again, I'm not trying to critique what you're doing, even a little.
Thanks! There’s no real skills to speak of, I tend to just jump in and figure it out as I go!
Nice video. What kind of light are you using inside the cab...
I have a couple of LED lights off Amazon. There’s a 4ft with magnets zip tied to it attached to the roof. And there’s a 2ft LED with a magnet zip tied on stuck to the dash
Nice!! At least now you gotta peak through the cracks to see the shop floor. Looks awesome
Thanks! It’s a nice change!
Looking gooder every week. 👍
Thanks!
Helping the algorithm, dropping a comment. I'd have fought with that pan for about 10 minutes before running a zip right up the trans tunnel...
I had the same thought! Luckily it finally dropped in.
Daaaang!! Jackson lookin sharp!!!
Yep, finally cut that mop of hair off!
Don't forget to protect the inside of your windshield from weld sparks. Especially when you start going in hardcore on the floor. Unless you plan on removing or replacing it. I didn't on the Mazda as much as i should have. Have fun!
The sparks will travel further than you may think. 🎇
I've got a big box waiting to get cut up to fit the windshield!
I remember you saying something about that in the past
Coming along nicely. 🤘
Slow but kinda steady...
Awesome
Thanks!
I watch you every week, some makes me laugh thank you! I'm still going on my 89 K5. I really enjoy your videos, best wishes with Steve, your work is cut out for you...
I'll be back on my K5 as soon as I get Steve and Little John squared away.
I am going to be in Columbia Tennessee on the 21st at the Mulefest car show ,I went last year and had a blast don't know if you are coming to that show but if you do I sure would like to meet you, I watch all videos and an they are great great, have a great day my brother brother. William Stone car guy.
Sorry about the screw ups.
I might be there. It really depends on how much work I am able to finish before then. If I am there, I'll make a post on Facebook and Instagram about it. Maybe I'll see you there!
Matt, I wouldn't do the cut-n-butt as Fitzee calls it, I don't think you can get the waste piece of metal out.
I can see that happening in some areas, but most of what I'm working on it shouldn't be an issue.
Im in the heat of replacing my 1981 Blazer floors and am so grateful for this series
Good luck! I’m glad it’s helping!
got an 87 so i am def tuned in. also locked in with ya, sub/liked! keep it coming
Appreciate it!
Hang in there!! I'm learning a lot from your videos. Everything you've done to the Blazer and currently doing on Steve I'm probably gonna have to do to my K10. Thanks for doing what you do.
You're welcome and I'm glad to hear it's helping!
The more you dig, the more you find. You can do it👍 Just Good Enuff
True! If I keep on digging, I’ll end up doing a full restore on Steve by accident.
That's a lot of work. 😮 Poor Steve. I still haven't finished welding the floor of the Ma,da back in.
You need to get that Mazda back on the road, get to it man!
I been looking forward to these!!
It'll be super nice once it's all done (I hope)!
Can’t wait to watch the process getting started, nice thing with metal, if you make a mistake, it can be cut out and replaced!
It’s only metal! It shouldn’t be too bad.
Having not ever done this before I’d say when in doubt put a brace in. Everywhere. Can’t wait to see how you do it👍
Hopefully doing it in sections, bracing shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I will have to support the front of the cab while I cut out the floor but once the floor is in, there should be enough rigidity to keep it straight for the firewall. At least that’s what I’m thinking right now. 🤷🏻♂️
