Taani (تأني), is a composition that brings together the rich, soulful tones of the oud and the deep, expressive sound of the cello. This piece is the result of a collaboration between myself, Sufian Ararah, on Oud, and the phenomenal cellist Paul Rittel (stage name: P.R.).
We began working on Taani in early January 2024, and despite only having a few weeks to finalize and record the piece before I had to travel again, we managed to capture its essence in this performance. The recording occurred in Bonn, Germany, where we fused our musical styles, creating a unique blend of Mediterranean, North African, Jazz, and classical influences.

@@sufianararah and sorry one last question but how do I stay up to date with the sheet music? Only for the cello really. In April I have an audition coming up and I would love to play the cello part for the audition. I reckon it’s something the judges have never really heard. If that would be okay with you guys as it’s obviously your music and I don’t want to play something without permission. I don’t have someone to play the other part with me so I’ll make some changes in the arrangement to discount the longer breaks, but if it would be okay with you guys I would love to play it then.
