7 months out from gastric sleeved. Loosing 3-5 lbs a month but having hard time keeping up my desire for water and fluids . Keeping protiens above 100 but still fighting my carb/sugar addiction. The fat cells are screaming for more. Only controls i found is replacment meals with the protien shakes. Have history c.p.t.s.d. from childhood and candy and sweets were a major coping mechanism for me growing up. This journey has been very successful and lost 120 lbs since the weight loss journey started over a year ago. 30 lbs away from my weight loss goal !! filling head hunger and regular hunger is constantly present . being sleeved did not change that at all but the sleeve has helped stop me from over eatting as well as weighing all my food and tracking carbs fats and protien and fluids. If i eat 13 oz of food and fluids in less than a hour i am guaranteed to throw up. So i know my limits for me. If some of the hunger is really being thirsty i am totally oblivious in that area with my body food and fluid craving.

All this video did was to explain why I am such a failure with weight loss. I first tried the lap-band and it worked at first but a few years into it, I gained back almost all my weight. So then I tried the sleeve surgery and it also worked for a few years. However, I found myself back at 340 pounds. I think I just have to accept that I’m a fat slob and that’s that. I’m so embarrassed that I don’t get out anymore. I am a single 60 year old at 6” and can hardly walk around a grocery store. On top of it all, I have Gerd really bad. I can eat a whole bottle of antacid and it still hurts like a sob. I was kicked off of an overseas job twice because of my weight. I’m on disability. My wife left me for another man. Took the kid as well when he was a baby. I saw him a few years back and he told his mother that I was a really fat man. Amazing what 5 year olds will say. Right, $50,000 for in vitro because my weight was a factor, preventing normal pregnancy. Thanks for the video however, I have no more faith that any surgery will work and be able to keep it off after 4 years. I’m in Houston by the way. I grew up in Atlanta.

I had a revision in June, now I am nauseous off and on. It lasts a week or two at a time. Extremely gassy after I eat anything. And I have discomfort after eating. Even during meals. I know it’s not normal but I’m not sure what it could be. Help?

Before the surgery I had severe hunger and being hungry the whole time and having no satiety, during a healthy meal plan the hunger where even more severe because the appropriate portions weren’t enough for me and while being severely hungry feeling starvation I was always waiting for the next meal and the meals never made me feel full. I had to eat big amounts of food to feel full and had satiety for longer, even healthy food but the calorie intake was higher of what i needed even I always went to the gym as nowadays it didn’t help much with weight management and also PMS made my hunger even worst literally starving even more severe and was even harder. I finally had vertical sleeve gastrectomy and during the PMS I use semaglutide for 10 days only. Self control and appetite control it is “normal” now unless I am on my PMS period when I have to use semaglutide 😢 I have vertical sleeve gastrectomy and what I do it’s having small meals 5 times per day and 2 light snacks, no more of 180cal each one, clean food and healthy options with low calories and I watch to be on 1200cal per day. That is how I manage to control of hunger and cravings and it is not really easy. I count the calories and the macro nutrients. And I exercise 4 to 5 times one hour and weight lifting. I am 1.60mts and 47kg

Thank you Dr. Maynard! Now I know that after bariatric surgery, it's important to be cautious with eating red meat. Red meat can be difficult to digest due to its high density and toughness, which might lead to discomfort or complications, especially in the early stages of recovery. It's best to introduce it slowly and in small portions, ensuring it's well-cooked and tender. Opting for lean cuts and chewing thoroughly can help make it easier on the stomach. Always follow your healthcare provider’s guidelines to ensure you're getting the right nutrients while staying safe.
