If you cast to middle of river 2/3metres do you just leave the rod with the deeper there and cast another bait rod close to finder?
It's best to scan the area you want to fish, make a mental note, put the deeper away and then fish it. Especially on a river, because the deeper will wash downstream and end up on the bank.
This video definitely sold me on the rod attachment. I get mine delivered today. Thanks for making this!
Yep the rod attachment works great. Easy to attach and remove too.
Why would you not use a big lock swivel?
I don't see why you couldn't.
@@sinclairfishing4322 I did. Works better than tying directly.
Was the ceramic bearings new??? If so thats not a fair test. Give the ceramic bearings time to break in..
You need the adaptor, again if you read the instructions so that you stay connected via wifi to the device. Ie water level. And from the bank use tbe lower line attachment. This will scan below the feking water instead of across the surface. There are 3 atrachments for shore, boat and fishing down from height. Hope he doesnt own a gun!!
Best to read the very detailed instructions 1st. Wrong attachment straight off. Watch UK Carp fishing guys for a tutorial on deeper
What size bearing are those want to change out my hamar reel bearing out
For Spool Hi Speed bearings, grab the 13 Fishing All Gens Spool Kit.
Just got this fish finder but how do you change the dept setting from metres to feet. Thanks
So how is your verdict one year later??
I use it sparingly on new ponds. Not something I have tied on regularly.
As I'm looking at one😂
the loud music in the end scared me
Wish you would’ve casted on the fish to see if u got a nibble
I believe I did off camera. Good idea for another video. Thanks!
Yeah its hard to holding a phone and reel, i put phone in pocket then cast, very useful for bottom configiration, find 2 spots for zander, 1 spot was realy holding a good one 👌 with fish icons off
I heard that, creepy throwing 200.+ 00$ out in the water.bad knot...you will be cussin,.the phone holder works well but i would put it on a seperate rod, nice attachment but wouldnt trust it during casting.wet phone = a trip to the bar
How do you no if the fish is in front or the back of you
it’s a standard 2D scan. The direction of your retrieve determines front/back.
Thanks just got one an wasn't really sure. Thank you
You need the rod mount
Finally a white guy reviewing this thing 😂😂
smartphone holder for running on forearm is perfect for this man
They make a phone holder for your rod. Works great.
Once you break those ceramic bearings in, they'll trump anything you've ever tried.
The genuine Deeper phone holder is definitely secure enough to cast with. When using the Deeper from the bank as you were it’s better to use the lowest attachment point. The top point is for use from a boat or bait boat, the middle is for using from a pier or high bank, the low point is for waterside and a little above. I have the Chirp +2 and highly recommend it.
I've been thinking about this. If it would be worth it for beach casting but I suspect that the water will be too fast flowing and not deep enough
@@UnseenSpirit I doubt it would be suitable for beach casting. I think it’s been designed primarily for still waters.
Hey man. So i just bought 4 bogo rods. Look nice feel nice. Now i need to reel them. Would like a long tern review on the hamnar. I lean to lews or tatulas. But the bogo is a better deal on hamnars if they hold up. Let me know please. Btw. Make more videos
Hey Roger, thanks for commenting! I have really struggled with my overall opinion of the Hammars. They do cast great! by "great" I mean they cast far and rarely backlash. However, they do NOT have a refined feel, like a Daiwa or a Shimano at the same price point. So, I find myself questioning what they are actually worth. The unfortunate answer is that their retail price is double what they are actually worth. People (myself included) fall for the idea that you are getting two, $200 reels for the price of one. The truth is, you are buying two $100 reels. Knowing this, would you buy two Shimano SLX's right now? You would be better off in my opinion. I'm not going to make friends in the fishing community by saying this out loud, but it's accurate. If you try to sell a Hammar right now, you won't be able to get more than $75. If you try to sell a Curado K or a Tatula SV (comparable retail price), you could get around $150 or more. Even an SLX would get you $75 or more. Knowing what I know now, I would not have purchased the Hammars. They do not compare to reels at the $200 price point and their resale value is a joke. Thanks!!
@@sinclairfishing4322 very much thanks for that honest reply. The rods i bought "akylos and chopper" are beautiful but time will tell how they fish and hold up. Few years a ago i bought some Kast King rods and reels. Rods are still fishable but the reels lasted a season its always a gamble to try new stuff. Ive bought lews, favorite combos to try. Like both rods but different with sane advertised actions. Thats no prob but the lews reel are worlds better . I like my diawas but the abu reels are my goto. Thamks
@@sinclairfishing4322 This is the answer I've been looking for. People are not honest about gear anymore and I appreciate what you just said. I was on the fence about ordering the BOGO Hamarr just now but Im just going to buy a Shimano Bantam on a JDM site for about $40 more.
I love my wraith, hamarr’s, hamarr s+, and so far loving my nimbus you won’t be disappointed with sixgill products or customer service
Purchased a pair of their new Nimbus reels to give them a try (between the Hamarr and the Wraith). I received two reels with bent shafts. They replaced both without question after I sent in a few photos, and I sent back the old reels in the new boxes. So far I really like them, except for that grindy whine it makes. I'm told this is due to the ceramic, just like in your video, and it's a bit of a turn-off. Once I got it dialed in I love casting with it. I would consider trying the Wraith or the Hamarr, but for the cost there are lots of good reliable options. I have one paired with their Fenrir for frogs and the other on a Chopper for spinnerbaits.
At this points I've caught 100's of fish on my Lykan / Hamarr combos. The rods are really good! The Hamarr reels cast great and perform just fine. However, in my opinion they are not worth $250. If you can get them on a bogo, fine. But do not pay full price for them. There are way better options out there for less. The Shimano Curado's and Daiwa Tatula's are far superior. Just my thoughts. Thanks for your comment!
Sixgill rods good ,reels not so much .
After using both for a few months now, I have to agree.
I agree! Rods are solid. The reels are good when they actually work which is not very often. I have 5 baitcasters that have broken thumb buttons. All make noise and have trouble with the worm gears sometimes. No more sixgill reels for me. I’ll continue to use the rods.
First time I tried the wraith a friend bought ... thumb button issues and it did not cast very good. customer service is pretty good though.
Thinking about putting Hawgtech bearings in my Hamarr.. Or should I go with spool speed.. I heard the Hawgtech we're good
I’ve never used Hawgtech. Spool Speed have been awesome (I have them in all my reels) and their customer service is equally as awesome.
The cellphone attachment is pretty sturdy and it's made so you can throw while its mounted on the fishingrod. You're not meant to have three arms to operate this. :D Good video!
I cannot skip properly with anything, but at least I don't backlash when trying.
I tried SixGill rods and reels several years ago and became hooked. I own the Cyclone, Typhoon, Deluge, Hyperion, Crius and Wraith as well as the Hamarr. I also have several of their awesome spinning reels. Other than my Finesse Baitcasters, I sold my Lews, Daiwa and Shimano reels, including my DC. Once I tried the Hamarr, it was a game changer. I can cast just fine, but sometimes I forget which brake system I am casting and get into trouble; this is why I like them all to be the same. I am currently trying to get a few more Hamarrs. I also want to mention that for $10 you can buy the brake upgrade kit for the Cyclone and a few others. I put mine in my old Cyclone and it casts like the Hamarr. I am told the new Cyclone cast like it as well. Their rods are killer too. I am trying to afford more of their Sirens and Scythe rods, I currently own 3. The Hamarr and Siren are amazing together.
Very cool! This video represents my first impressions. I haven’t had the Hamarr’s long. I’m looking forward to fishing them this season to see how they hold up to tournament abuse. Thanks for your comment!!
If you are so impressed with it then why would you probably not buy another one?
Hi Anthony, I was poorly describing my thought process IF I didn’t like the reel. So, I may buy more in the future. Thanks for the comment!!
The brakes are the reason I'm going to try them
The brakes are awesome!
Grabbed a couple Sixgills on BOGO too… and TBH I probably wouldn’t buy anymore. I compared these reels to Piscifuns and KastKing reels, and they are the exact same frame and chassis with interchangeable parts.
That's interesting and a little disappointing. I have the two Hamarr's and both of them sound and feel a little different from each other. All 10 or so of my Curado's feel and sound exactly the same. The jury is still out for me on these. I haven't fished them enough to know their true strengths or weaknesses. If they are a glorified Piscifun as you say, they are definitely not worth $199. Thanks for the comment!
@@sinclairfishing4322 Perhaps comparing the Piscifuns and KastKing with SixGill reels with measurements would make for a good video. I would love to see this myth be put to an end. If anyone were to copy another brand, they certainly would not be copying Piscifuns and KastKing.
Thanks for making this video! A couple of questions if you don't mind! Which model of unit did you get and were demoing? I just ordered and received the Deeper Pro+ 2. I found the Deeper website to be a little confusing as to which model does what exactly. I PRIMARY interest for purchasing this unit was to scan and create topographic maps of smaller bodies of water that I typically tend to fish from shore. You know... ponds and small lakes (often in neighborhoods, etc.) that you can't typically get quality topo maps of. Does the unit you have have the digital map creation capability that I am describing? I love that these units find fish as well of course, but I am truly primarily interested in scanning and creating my own digital maps of local ponds and lakes. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Maybe a future video? ;)
Hi E2S, I have the Deeper Chirp and it does the custom mapping. I will definitely do a video on this once spring rolls around. We are flirting with ice right now on the ponds near me. Stay tuned! I see what you mean though... The Deeper Pro mentions mapping and the Pro+2 does not...
