Hey Folks.... I love 78s. I collect 78s and record them for myself and have done this over the years. I've recorded these strictly for myself from my own collection for my own listening pleasure. Recently, I had a thought that some other people MIGHT like to hear them as it's a wide variety and a lot of stuff. The dates of recording and personnel doesn't really interest me as much as the actual music, but I could see why some folks are interested. This is just sort of a hobby for me. After I do the basic curating and posting of "good" stuff I like, I'll probably make an effort to put recording dates and such in the listing. Take it easy on me for just having little to no extra info. If you like the band or the track, it might spur you to find out more about it and do the sleuthing yourself. I'm not making money, or want to make money on this. It's just a labor of love.

Eddie South was a violinist, interesting for the time.
They wrote and arranged so much beautiful music. It is so wonderfully slow and wonderful. Who is playing the trombone?
From Swing & Beyond: Recorded by Benny Goodman and His Orchestra for Victor in Hollywood on September 27, 1935. Benny Goodman, clarinet, directing: Bunny Berigan, first and solo trumpet; Ralph Muzzillo and Nate Kazebier, trumpets; Jack Lacey and Sterling “Red” Ballard, trombones; Hymie Shertzer, first alto saxophone; Bill De Pew, alto saxophone; Dick Clark and Arthur Rollini, tenor saxophones; Jess Stacy, piano; Allan Reuss, guitar; Harry Goodman, bass; Gene Krupa, drums.
Tie tapping goodness
Hello my Jazz friend how are you today this Benny Goodman song I have it on cd By Columbia records also it's live recording
In its own way, this is live.
Recorded on December 9, 1936.
No the date was late 50s to early 60s my dad was Joe Tucker
Awesome! Discogs has the release date at 1951, and I do believe that. If it was late 50s, it probably would have been on a 45. I don't want to disagree with Joe Tucker's child.
Recorded in NYC on June 4, 1928.
Nice tune; good solos!
La fin est très belle !
ré-edité en France sur disque Decca vers 1970 ?🐾🐾🐾
Terrific tune!
Always has been fascinated by this one as BG plays saxes rather than clarinet and shows an entirely different musical personality.
_Emma Lou Welch_ ...hadn't heard of her, especially when it comes to the flock of BG's "canaries" (girl singers). According to an article by Scott Yanow, she was with the band for just three months, recording seven sides in the second half of 1947, You learn something new every day!
Originally released on Victor V-38541. 1939 reissue.
Recorded on September 6, 1937. Arranged by Fletcher Henderson.
Great orchestra; top soloists!
Always love how Lester comes in on this side…beautifully done, such celebration of life, this piece.
Classic Nat. Awesome stuff.
How can one not like this? Great song, great playing, clear sound, and a extended drum solo, to boot.
A good version of a fun song
Recorded in NYC on December 19, 1945
Recorded on June 25, 1941, when Miss Horne was almost 24.
I've got this 78,and it's 🔥!!!
Well, this ones a revelation to me! I've enjoyed this tune for years, but all the versions have been in instrumental form. Great to hear the lyrics, and in such a laid-back style. Fine performances, all around. Thanks for sharing!
Recorded on February 5, 1944.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hello my Jazz friend how are you some of Benny Goodman recordings I never heard before but till now
Awesome. There's more coming.
Nice tune!
GOOD bubble.
A rather subdued version, compared to Benny's instrumental side, but enjoyable, none the less.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sounds like natkingcole trio
Ward Cleavers favorite song.
Great tune I haven't heard in a very long time!
Recorded on January 30, 1946
This 30s tune apparently saw a resurgence in popularity in '46. I have Bing's version, backed by Jimmy Dorsey's band, the same year.
Recorded on December 14, 1947.
Her 30th birthday
@@duneclimb nice piece of trivia there.

Recorded on January 30, 1946.
Great group; I hear Jack Teagarden on trombone. Goodman at his best!
Recorded on July 27, 1942.
Made even more famous a few years later by the "Les Paul and Mary Ford Sound-on-Sound Orchestra"! (hee hee)
Recorded on March 27, 1941.
Would you know if this side was shelved, and issued by the label about 3 years later?
As a matter of fact, it *was.* During the August 1942- November 1944 recording ban (due to the American Federation of Musicians boycotting the major record companies), most labels had a "stockpile" of masters released during that period....and shortly after. This was one of them- and it was finally released by the end of 1944.
Recorded on December 18, 1940.
I dig mid-40s Benny! This one's new to me,and it's mellow!
Giving the U.S. jazz bands,a run for their money. What's the current exchange, rate dollars to pounds? 😁
Alternate title for "St. James Infirmary". Recorded on March 10, 1939. Originally released on the 1941 {American} Decca album set "Drummer Boy" [A-216].
Ha! I was about to reference "SJI", but you beat me to it!
I'll have some on my toast, please.
Yeeeeesssss!!!! Good!
Great music and song. The drummer is unreal. Thanks.
Emmanuel Sayles on banjo.
