One thing this whole Jimmy Butler fiasco has reignited in my mind is a need for much greater analytics of players. We now have AI doing all kinds of great things in terms of analytics, and I really don't yet see it being used to its full potential in analyzing players. I mean, we're still stuck in a fucking antiquated and outdated purely analog system of evaluating them. A great deal of that is because the players themselves, to a degree, want that. Their current contracts depend upon their status as evaluated by our current system. The player scoring the most points is considered more valuable than a player scoring the least amount of points. The player grabbing the most rebounds is valued more than the player grabbing the least rebounds, etc. These statistics are the ones we use to evaluate players. As they should be, but only to a degree. For instance, one player might grab 10 rebounds compared to only 7 rebounds for another player, but if the 10 rebounds were all defensive boards, and only 2 of them led to scores on the other end, were they more valuable than the 7 rebounds if 6 of those were offensive boards that led to 12 points? Statistics in all sports should be massively revamped, using AI to better determine the value of players for what they ACTUALLY contribute to wins, not just a bunch of simpleton statistics that quite often don't reflect the truth. AI can take all of those statistics, and many more, delving deeply into them, analyzing the players they were matched up against on every possession when they acquired those statistics, as well as the type of and importance of the game, such as regular season or postseason.

At this point, the best case scenario is for Jimmy to get his head out of his ass and play ball like he said he would, his lack of playing and his contract and making him impossible to move. It best for both parties to put their egos aside and play basketball. If Jimmy balls he can get his contract elsewhere, and the Heat get the cap space.
