I would also reach out to your military benefits and see if there is a portion they can cover for the end of life celebration. If they don’t have anything I would reach out to the family or even just write a letter to them asking if since they received the life insurance and life insurance is supposed to be used for assistance with the funeral costs. I would copy and send them the bill. Make it a very professional letter don’t add emotions or anything in it just a simple reaching out. The executor of his estate should be paying for this from life insurance money and anything like retirement benefits /stocks etc. They may surprise you if you send them the bill.
@@6girlsbudget I feel determined to pay for the Celebration of Life myself especially since I just got a new job
I’m sorry for your loss. I am also sorry you were treated that way by the Ramsey family. I do follow Dave and his teachings have helped me through a lot I’ve never paid anything for his teachings and he makes nothing from me except maybe a few Pennie’s from the adds on UA-cam. Tons of his info is free and the books can be checked out at the library. He can be rude and abrupt some days towards people I believe he probably gets fed up hearing the same things everyday from people and yet they are not changing their behavior just continuing on getting more into debt or making bad decisions. It’s not an excuse for rudeness or meanness he just reminds me of someone’s old know it all grandpa he has good advice but not always the best delivery. What helps me is #1 writing down the basics rent/utilities/food/ medications always are first on the budget after that I can add in things like car, subscriptions. As long as you can cover the basics anything left is where you have that chance to pay the debt off. Being focused about your money and dealing with your grief are very important things. Many people make very bad financial decisions while grief stricken so I’m glad to hear that you’re seeing a therapist and taking care of yourself.
@@6girlsbudget thank you 🙏
You’re doing such a great job! The misstep is just a learning curve. Maybe you can volunteer It helps your resume, and interviews. Also, a lot of volunteer jobs may hire you because they see your work ethic. At least you could get out the house. I’m so proud of you! Hugs and love 🤗💐♥️

Hey there Kim the hardest thing to do when working on your budget is being honest with yourself. If you truly want to change your spending habits you need to identify why you do it, what was the trigger. Because I can tell you, once you triggered it it is a down hill slope where we tell ourselves , “well I already overspent what’s one or more going to hurt”. You are only hurting yourself by not fixing your way of spending. To say you’re not going to spend the rest of the month is unrealistic unless you make a drastic change. Lock up that credit card and realistically work out your budget for your must have expenses and stick to it. Use the cash envelope method or you will never learn the feeling of letting go of your money. Go back to the basics. I wish you the best. I actually made my daughter lock ut her Discover card in water and freezed it in the freezer. To this day she still doesn’t use it, that was a year ago. It’s tough but it taught her the value of money and how to live within her means. She’s actually wanting to save her money for the future. Thank you for sharing,,and I hope you work it out. 🩵
Imagine if all that money you spend on shopping went on debt, you’d be debt free in no time. This should be motivation for you. I’m £40k in debt and doing my very best to get this sh** out my way. We can do it together
@@SammyNdlovu1212 Thank you.
Hi, l don’t see debt payout category in your budget, are you trying to pay off your debt?
@@SammyNdlovu1212 All the purchases on my expenses are put on to credit cards. My paycheck every month goes to pay back my credit cards. Tho I am in the negative. My income doesn’t stretch far enough to touch student loans yet.
Please look for a local church and visit. This could help you, stay blessed sis 🥰
@@SammyNdlovu1212 Thank you. I’ve gotten into Bible studying since I’ve been unemployed since my husband passed away. It has helped.
Marry a guy. Divorce the guy. He takes half your debt. Do it 6 more times.
@@Bleu_Sky I’d rather pay it off on my own than depend on someone else.
Progress! I see progress! Go girl! ❤❤❤ I’m thinking, and praying 🙏 for you!

Thank you for sharing your story with us. Im so very sorry for your loss. Im also in the US and I found my way here down a rabbit hole of debt confession. Im also a veteran and your story is far far too common. Please do not blame yourself or your husband. I had an attempt when I was active duty the stress of life is just overwhelming when you're serving. I wish you the absolute best as you move forward and pray for your healing. ❤
@@tiedtruth1071 Thank you for sharing too. I got into a non profit called TAPS Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. And through there I met so many people in my position. So many spouses, siblings, parents that lost someone. My husband passed away to suicide while he was stationed in a desert. I 100% blame the military and the conditions he was put through. So I have a very bad view of the military in general. I hope you never go through this experience I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Thank you for stopping by.
1) you are very brave for posting. you're right, most people only post their successes on social media and they hide their struggles. I'm glad that you are brave enough to post even when you don't want to 2) anhedonia is so real, I struggle with it too. when I was in the trenches with my depression one of the only things to bring me any excitement was ordering something online and having it be delivered. 3) the damage is done, and if you cant return the items then you cant return them. the only thing we can do is keep trying to do better
Thank you so much. Seeing your comments motivates me every week to post. It’s always good to hear from you 💕. Happy Sunday.
Good morning! Happy Monday, my friend! 2 no spends! Congrats! You’re doing great on the savings challenges too. I talked about my struggles and no spend withdrawal symptoms. My key was family and being better than I was before. I think your key is mom. It was hard, but I talked about my struggles, and she told me about hers. You’re beginning to understand why you’re doing it. Great progress with this video! Hugs and prayers always 🙏💜🕊️
Thank you Cash Bear Mama! Happy Sunday!
I'm sorry that you've been struggling with shopping, I've also been struggling with my addiction. I'm going to try really hard to not do any online shopping for the rest of the year (unless it's for things I legitimately NEED). if you want an accountability buddy let me know!
Yes I would love an accountability buddy! I would 100% support you if you started your own channel too and published your spending journey. Writing my budget on paper and posting it has rly made it feel real in my head and feel the weight of the money I’m spending. I look forward to the day when I’m finally spending with in my means.
Hi! Happy Sunday 😊 How about working on that Fund for your husband and Law school? You can put a certain percentage amount that you overspend into each fund. I think as your mind sees it grow, it’ll have a purpose for you. I’m still praying. Take your time. It’s not easy. ❤❤❤
Thank you for the idea. Yes savings for my husband’s Celebration of Life and law school are on my mind but they’re going to have to be put on the back burner until I get my spending under control and keep my credit cards paid off. Thank you for the comment Cash Bear Mama ❤

Hello hello! New sub here😊 Girl! If law school is something you want, go for it. At one point after graduating with my bachelors degree I thought about going to law school but I was scared and overwhelmed and I decided to do something else. I don't regret my decision, but I do wonder how things would have turned out. Also, you're doing great with your videos, and I'm sure you won't come across negative comments. Trust me, I've been creating content for months now and I'm not good at it lol but I enjoy it so much and I'm learning as I go😅 hope everything went well with your interview.
Thank you so much!! ❤❤ Yes I’m still considering law school. And yes my interview went well! I have a second round of interviews this Thursday 😊

hi Kimberly. 2020 through early 2024 were some of the worst years of my life. I spent over $30,000 on shopping. Shopping didn't fill the void in my heart or help me heal from my depression, but I couldn't stop. My mindset was "well maybe I'll kill myself and the money won't matter anymore." I burned through my savings and I put myself in a bad situation financially. I hope you can feel better and stop soon ❤
also, I dont know if it will help you but I downloaded an extension on my browser called BlockSite. It blocks whatever websites you want, and I've used it to block the websites that I tend to shop at so that I can't access them
Thank you for the story. I rly can relate. I’ve had my fair share of suicidal ideations when my husband first passed and I’ve received so much therapy to combat that. Sometimes it feels like everything in life is a struggle and fight but there are moments that make life worth living. And in order to live we need money and financial security. So that motivates me to keep budgeting even tho it feels hard.
I remember shopping when my husband passed away. It’s a hard habit to break. You really don’t know what else to do. It’s really hard. I had to focus on a different hobby. I volunteered and kept my self busy. It’s going to be alright. It’s going to take awhile. Did you try online jobs? Customer service at home like Amazon or another company? Have a blessed day ❤
Hey Cash Bear Mama! Yes I’ve tried online jobs. Got rejected from Amazon sadly. Yes shopping is definitely a hard habit to break. Thank you for the encouragement ❤
Hi there ❤ Some struggles, some stumbles, and setbacks. We’ve all been through it, but I see your wonderful potential. Dust yourself off. I’m always praying for you❤❤
Yes! Thank you!

hi Kimberly! again, I'm very sorry for the loss of your husband and how your in-laws treated you. I hope you can find a job soon, and that this paralegal course will help you find work! <3

Thanks for sharing. It's unfortunate the way you were treated after his passing. Wish that you find another way to cope with the grief so you could save more money toward your goals. Good luck with everything. I wish that you are able to organize his celebration of life next year 🙏🏽
