The Exorcist (1973) - Classic Horror Talk
Fabulous film works on so many different levels. It looks like Edge Hill; (near me) where the Civil War battler took place and I totally relate to searching for an ale house. There's a couple of pubs around there, including "The Castle at Edge Hill" a mock medieval folly.
Great video!! In the scene where Kelly-Ann wins the auction, she proceeds to destroy the phone hidden behind the photo. I believe that it was possible Kelly-Ann and perhaps others involved in the bidding process requested Chevalier to carry out those acts and remunerated him for access to the videos. Because of the cosplay Kelly-Ann enjoys, I wonder if it was her that specifically requested the type of girls, perhaps she was emotionally scared by someone that fits that description when they were teenagers (we she the impact that Clems rejection has on her). Where Clem says that if Kelly-Ann had blonde hair she would be exatcly the killers type, could be a nudge to suggest that they are in fact Kelly-Ann's request and she is as much the killer as Chevalier, he was just doing her bidding. Kelly-Ann may have been at the trial because she enjoyed the suffering she was witnessing and also in support of Chevalier. Also, perhaps Kelly-Ann felt betrayed for paying so much for access to the third video, perhaps their had already been some type of prior agreement, leading her to sharing the bitcoin transactions and incriminating sections of the video.
I liked the main actress... I just noticed every male statist or actor was doing something violent like boxxing punchingbags. All whamen are victims. The whole psychotic cult... The movie and actors are good, interesting story, but the sexism is reeeeaaally redundant, nauseating, and unnecessary. Brainwashing women to fear men... Its subliminal. And it really messes up the otherwise wellwritten story and themes. The entire movie is full of it.
So what are conditions like on Mars? Does the movie ever say?
Loved this breakdown. I didn't end up connecting to this film, a huge fan of Cure and this came out before -- but Cure just feels like it improved upon this premise and perfected it in every way. Lots of amazing images and striking moments in Angel Dust but ultimately a little dry for me and the characters didn't connect.
This movie is almost perfect. The main character seems to be very inspired by The Card Counter (Paul Schrader, 2021), detached from the world, with a secret past that moves the entire plot, very cold-blooded and obsessive and on a mission
I thought her motive was that she could see herself in these girls (enough where she became one). She also pays attention a lot to the mom. I felt to me that she was just emotionally harden by the case but also made her mission to prove he was guilty. She turned it into an obsessive game. I still wanna know if that auction was live or not. The screams from this movie haunt me just like that judge said. Turly horrific.
5:09 so Dune?
I think the film is a perfect mix between “Alphaville” and “Solaris” with a little bit of Von Trier’s “Melancholia”. Aniara became a gem that I discovered months ago. I fell in love with Emily Johnson and her character as well as her story. I have recommended it and everyone liked it. Greetings
This is a great movie.
I learned about this movie the other day when I found a reference to a long narrative poem/novel called Anara by Harry Martinson. It won him a Nobel prize for literature in 1974. He wrote it in 1956! There is a free pdf of an English translation online. The copywrite holders seem to have effed-off to Mars, maybe? There also, appears to have been a sequel in the works when the author decided to die (much like Mima.)
_The Innocents_ and _Psycho_ were also black and white by choice.
. Sin oler o tocar su piel. Esperar tu proxima peli, danesa, mi ilusión. Mikkelsen. No cambies. ❤❤❤❤
just watched this movie yesterday and man what a trip, i really enjoyed watching this movie, i can totally see the influence it had on movies like "Cure" its funny cause this movie was already on my letterboxd watchlist but i completely forgot about it lol you video was a great reminder
✋️He means Mima, not Mira... Please continue.🫴
This one reminded me a lot of Resurrection with Tim Roth and Rebecca Hall. If anyone is a fan of this one, definitely check out that one
Such a good movie. Honestly its so great as a commentary on Christianity and faith. Really allows one to do some introspection.
Do you know it is based on a collection of poems written in the 1950s by Harry Martinson?
I'm obsessed with this film.
Same! I think I've seen every video on UA-cam about it.
I just discovered your channel, and immediately I was like "I like this guy's ideas, I want to be this guy's friend" 😂
really nice video, i just stumbled upon this flick and enjoyed hearing your insights, totally feels frances ha, i really liked the "i love you sounds fresh every time" line
great review. Lucy isn't great, but it's a fun and dumb action movie. La Femme Nikita is up there with Leon as the two best, followed by 5th Element imo
Had this on my watch list for quite a while. Finally got around to watching it this morning and it was a very good Sci-Fi movie. Probably one of the better ones I've seen in a while.
Well the director is no longer the original on the remake sadly. but i love this movie.
Can confirm all fields in England are like this. Bloody wizards everywhere.
It has character development and stamina at the same time. Ivan's stamina and Adam's developement. And the infamous Danish dark humor. Deeply flawed characters that somehow get the best out of their misery. But the dark sarcastic humor is the absolute power of this movie. One of my all time favorites.
The camerawork reminded me of It Follows; always creeping around the scene in an almost voyeuristic way. Kind of makes sense thematically. I wish the main character had to struggle a bit more, though. The belly of the beast moment was arguably the cancellation of the photoshoot, but... Idk, it just fell a bit flat, like she never had to lose much. But I guess that's the point. Thanks again for the awesome recommendation!
Damn good film. More of an experience than anything, and the kind of experience that convinces you that you can make films
15:30 lol I'm pretty sure he didn't pull out
NOT WHAT I MEANT LOL
They couldn’t ever really adjust to their “new world” because they had a gaddamn captain who REPEATEDLY kept giving them false hope. To me, he was the villain of the damn movie. Ugh 🤦♂️
Guess he had a captain schettino moment there.
Thanks for the review! Glad you enjoyed our film! :)
In a voice-over narration after her death, Eleanor says, "...and we who walk here walk alone." And about Theo: She wasn't a mind reader, her ESP abilities worked like a hyper sense of intuition to the point of the preternatural.
She does get almost all the cards right, though.
I’ve been meaning to check this out too!glad you reminded me
Excellent review/talk about the movie 😊
I was blown away.. I think its the best movie of the 2020's so far.
A think a lot of the minor plot holes/inconsistencies makes more sense if we think of the ship as less mayflower and more costa concordia that got repurposed at the last minute.
What plot holes/inconsistencies??
@@JeanEDeaux Pretty sure some of the other comments touched on them but things like the lack of comms with earth & mars, lack of any attempts of rescue from earth & mars, the potential of their artificial gravity system, etc. Again, none of that matters or detracts from the story because the main focus is on the human flaws that lead to the situation (and how they cope) with parallels to earth's seafaring history (ship disappearances and whatnot).
This movie is so bleak and depressing. Idk what was worse the baby scene or the probe realization.
I love this film and the soundtrack (which I have on hexagonal vinyl)
That's awesome, I'm jealous!
Not enough love for this film. It's great.

The best movie🎉
Great review! Will check it out.
Will check it out as a returning Quebecois and "film type" professional (once!).....who loved Seven and those type of films. Check out "Blowout" by Brian DePalma. Underrated crime film.
I love Blow Out! I have a video on it :)
Love, love, love this film. Thank you for this.
hi! its great to find the comments about this kind of films in your channel, love it!
Brilliant psychological horror. Love Eleanors internal monologue. Very creepy.
I hope you watch Tokyo Sonata, one of my fav films...being a huge new Kurosawa fan myself, I was anxious to see a non horror film of his but it became my second favourite film of his after Cure and one of the only film to make me emotional... great way of showing class struggle as well..Also have the same takeaway of getting something even from a lesser Kiyoshi film.. I felt that way especially with Charisma, Retribution, Serpent's Path and Eyes of the Spider..
I watch Tokyo Sonata fairly recently and I loved it! I agree, it really had an amazing emotional core to it. In a couple years he's become my favourite director, every film leaves me with something to think about. I'm very excited for his 2 projects this year!
Just a lot of very broke, muddy people, wondering when the rain would stop. It never did.
