The Aging Engineer explores the underside of technology. As technology improves our skills evolve: we think less about the nuts and bolts of WHY something works and are more concerned with HOW to do something quickly.
Often times, that need for legacy knowledge comes full circle. This is when it is time to break the challenge down old-school style, look at why it is a problem when trying to solve it with today's technology, and employ some reverse-engineering to solve it.

LHZ Installation Into Fender Jazz Deluxe
This video is a long walk-thru of the process of upgrading a American Fender Jazz Deluxe 5 String bass from the EMG BTS to the LHZ-03 preamp. This is NOT a typical installation because it as a custom modification to use a 2PDT bypass switch. This allows the LHZ preamp to be bypassed for those times where I want just the un-EQ'd pickup outputs.
There is also a good bit of info on how the stereo output jack TRS connectors are wired and serve as a power switch for the bass. If you just want to skip ahead to the Before and After test, you'll find that at the end!

During a recent hotel stay I found myself impressed by the simplest thing: the Modern Forms TL-1710-BK task lamp on the desk in the hotel room. I just watched a video by Glen Hyden titled "Boston guitar tone for the helix" and he 100% nails the rockman tone with the helix. What's ironic is a rockman x100 used costs as much as a used helix and The helix will do a hell of a lot more!😂 So it's a win-win For me🤘

Would I be able to replace the KHAZ to the LHZ on my 1988 Kramer Forum III? It currently has the passive Spector pickups but I’m thinking of switching them to EMG’s if replacing to LHZ-03 might be doable.

Not wanting to be dismissive of your work, which I think it's great, but there is something fundamentally wrong with the value of the 10pf and 33pf capacitors on that circuit. Those values, paired against that circuit, have the exact same effect as having absolutely nothing in their place. The values of 100pf and 330pf make sense and, quite likely , are the values that should be used. I don't know how you got to those component values, but it is very hard to believe that the original used those. Just my two cents
Very grateful you did this. For some reason Adobe Air worked for me installing NGeo in early 2023, but wasn't able to in 2024 on a different laptop. But your conversion routine yielded a useful alternative. Nice job with Excel macros.
