Hohner Symphonic 30 & 30N - 1960s combo organs
An in-depth look at my favorite keyboard, the Hohner Symphonic 30N! And it's predecessor, the model 30, who came to visit us before moving on to it's new home in LA. Famed for their electromechanical keyboards (Pianet, Cembalet, Clavinet), Hohner also made a few combo organs in the 1960s. Their Symphonic organs have a tone all their own, are built like tanks, and are possibly the most compact organ of their time.

Hammond L-100 Chop - with foldback and tapering
Переглядів 1,1 тис.5 років тому
Freshly chopped (or mobilized) Hammond L-100. Everything stayed in the organ except for the speakers - vibrato and percussion amps and reverb all still function as before. BUT - upper manual full foldback and tapering were done before the chop, so this thing can really scream! This was before I figured out legs for it. Leslie is a 130 with upper horns added.

good for manzarek sound
Love your playing, sounds fantastic! Great restoration job. You saved this beautiful antique instrument.
Pretly
Where did you buy the rubber belts?
i was thinking i could use one of these to make something like supersaw sounds
What song is this?
YEAAAA
Does the 30 sound exactly like the 30N minus Brilliance? I am very impressed by the Hohner Symphonic line, they should be well known. I especially love the 45. Such a beast!
pretty wild I think Alan Price played hohner before he got a Vox continental-sounds right at home playing a moody 60's garage band song
This sounds magnificent. Excellent performance!
Sounds great! I thought there might have been some tubes in there, but I guess it was the wrong model.
Beautiful.
that's why you call "rough hewn"
I’ve got to know what song this is or just hear more like it
The old gal has some cosmetic fixes and after you did she still sounds as sexy as she did for her age of 59. Nice job .
Ah, the beauty of analog.
wurli tone so warm it feels like a weighted blanket over your brain
That original speaker … _YIKES!_ You did a nice job with the refurb. Can't tell but it seems the keys are at least in pretty good shape. I've always liked the action on Wurlitzers. This one sounds _really_ nice-especially considering the years of neglect it was subject to. Seems like all of that work was worth it.
Beautiful
Wurlitzer should have seriously considered assembling an 88-key version of this model with that cabinet. Either that, or they should have echoed what was done by Harold Rhodes and in the building of the Hohner Electra Piano.
I've always love the Wurli tone and this...oh man it's SUPERB!
Прекрасный аппарат!!!
Nice to see a demo with good music
this is so beautiful
Потрясающее звучание!
What song is this?
gorgeous sound, so glad you were up to the task of saving such a lovely instrument.
My father and I built and owned a recording studio in 1977 in my hometown of Mattoon Illinois. The studio was called Applause…. We were looking for a used electric piano we could afford., somehow he ended up driving to Champaign Urbana, Illinois, and purchased this exact same Whurlitzer electric piano, and a Sony 4 track real to reel from the then fledgling rock group… ( REO Speed Wagon ) “ NO JOKE “ , we used the Sony 4 track recorder for a couple of years…, and we traded it in on a Tascam 88 eight track recorder.. I used and played the Wurlitzer piano for around three years, and then traded it for a B3, Hammond organ…! I would love to have that Wurlitzer piano back…🎶🎹🎹🎹😍
Definitely, but a B3 is pretty awesome too, eh
Awesome story!
Amazing sound man. I like the raw look, but that thing needs to be wrapped in some Scarlett tolex or something lol
Bel timbro 👏👏👏
didn't expect it to sound so good
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Music.
that is definitely a bad pickup somewhere lol
Awesome but needs a bit of a tune
why don’t you go tune it yourself then pal
@@concorde__ I'd love to but I'm overseas
Break out your file - but don't take too much solder off, or you have to get a new tine and start over.
hello! what's the wah wah sound in it?
Man and I thought mine was beat up!
Richard Carpenter said in an interview that he played this exact model.
I am subscriber #25. You should have thousands!. I'm happy to have Badge #25! I was recommended by the Wurlitzer 140 video.
agreed
Hey dude! I recently inherited a cembalet CF and want to start gigging with it. All of the pluckers have deteriorated and crumbled. Do you know where I can find replacements or do you have the dimensions so I can get some new ones made? Love the videos and thanks for being some of the only cembalet sound resources on youtube!
eBay user achaemenes sells the pluckers and dampers. I believe he is still active, you'll just have to contact him if he doesn't have any currently listed. If he isn't making them, I can get dimensions for you. The pluckers are made of rubber. The dampers he sells are felt (like a Rhodes damper), which can cause some static clicking and popping noises. I have replaced them on a couple units with lightweight foam weatherstripping.
pas de son/ no sound!!!!
Very nice job! You made it sound great again. Did you end up using the vintage vibe amp kit, or did you source components elsewhere? About to tackle the job myself.
Is that stock percussion?
Sounds lovely
love it <3
I.m wondering if it is the same thing on my Cembalet 1....shoul I tape all key shafts and damper holder with copper foil?....I already have aluminium adhesive foil...I think it is thesame thing...
Yes you should. On this one, it turned out that almost every screw on the keyboard case was loose. Tightening everything up stopped the loud banging and crackling, and the copper tape took care of any remaining snaps crackles and pops.
Another great demo of the Satellite. Think you may be the only person that uses it musically and doesn't just noodle on it. I noticed the Model D, how does the Satellite compare?
Best demo of the Satellite I've seen.
Agreed. Also picking up some strong Wendy Carlos "A Clockwork Orange" vibes at 18:13. Well done.
You’d really feel like going to the bathroom if the thing was wrapped in corduroy, no wonder they had to remove it.
Sounds great!
Will you sell It?
