Jacob Rosenberg—Recording The Ride: The Rise of Street Style Videos & The Legacy of Mike Ternasky
This was a portion of Jacob's speech during the opening night panel with Rick Howard, Matt Hensley, and Michaela Ternasky at the Museum of The Moving Image exhibition covering the VHS skate video and the legacy of Mike Ternasky. I hesitated to bring out my camera as it seemed so historic (and emotional) to even have these four people on stage together. In hindsight, I should have brought my tripod and filmed the whole thing. Still, this Jake monologue is golden. Thanks again to Jacob, Michaela, and the MoMI team for making this exhibit a reality. Filmed Sept. 7, 2024 in Queens, NY. RIP Mike Ternasky.

This was the audio recording of my conversation with Alex Olson in 2012 that resulted in his The Skateboarders Journal interview - Young Skywalker: Life So Far With Alex Olson. All photos by Ben Colen. Much love to Alex and his dad Steve. Also thanks to Jack Smith for his hard work on TSJ. As always, apologies for the low-tech sound quality and sporadic incoherent mumbling. It is what it is.

This was the audio of the conversation used for Tom Penny's "Divulge" interview from the October 2003 issue of Skateboarder Magazine (Vol. 13, No. 2). Once again, Ill add the disclaimer that these were never intended for public use, simply to gather the text for the print magazine feature, so pardon any rough edges. This was the first time I got to speak to Tom and at the time he was probably m...

This was the full audio of the phone call I made back in 2002 to get Harold's 15 Things article for Skateboarder Mag, Jan. 2003. As usual, I'd like to add in a disclaimer that these interviews were not meant to be public, so the conversation is more an attempt to extract good points for the article and less a showcase. Point being, it gets repetitive but that proved the best way to get these th...

If I could be reincarnated I'd wanna be penny or Rowley... Such a great era
Loved it❤
It's wile how simplistic the skating is in this video compared to Gonz in Blind's Video Days that would come out only two years later. The progression in skateboarding during those years was insane.
after seeing it slow mo, i can see it now
That blockhead ad of JWray doing the fside 360 over that huuuuge double set in 92 is forever burned into my brain
Tom Penny is so coooooooooooooooooooooooool
The hand in front of the fisheye. Brings me back
Been trying to remember his name and this part for some years now. Thanks!
So crazy
He's smoking bongs in this interview 😅
Pro skaters of the 90’s need to thank their lucky stars - pro skaters of today only get there by throwing themselves down massive stairs and huge rails.
WOW!!!
I dont remember a crappy NO/FX song in Jeremy Wrays part. Copyright is a bitch.
A lot of creativity here. Took the onefoot up a notch. Today a saw a clip from Tampa. A guy onefooting over the pyramid to backlip ...
heaven
Crazy how skateboarding kind did turn out like fast food its still sick and always will be but i feel like major brands had a really bad impact on skateboarding
Double heel flip at 1:55. You don’t see those anymore
He pivots the board round with his back foot when it lands
First ever documented swich ollie?
Adoro la parte iniziale tra le due leggende di Jeremy e Laban , ❤️ ho chiamato il mio 3° figlio come lui, proprio per Wray J
I read this back in the day! This is amazing!!!
If that board was any more flat the edges would rest on the wheels!
Tom Penny talking about Hosoi is amazing..I would give anything to meet those 2..throw in Cardiel and Id be stoked as F..especially if I got to see them all skate.
interviewer hasnt got a clue...
Why'd you gotta put that music in the beginning. It's gonna be stuck in my head for a very long time.
“Hello…yeah. Whatwasdat ?” LoL
You liar!) Thanks and Penny will be A hero forever!
Man, she had her own 10min on the end of the video and boy oh boy didy buddies love to come over and request my shorty’s video. Lol.
RIP Coolio! ❤
One of the best parts ever. Girl / Chocolate/ firm 🔥
Tom penny the legend
The first demo I went to in late 1995/early 1996 was at Hot Rods. I remember Donny Barley was there and I caught a Shorty's backpack.
he's got that same thing Bruce Lee had
Coming up in the mid 90s to 2000s everyone tryed to skate like Tom penny. He was different a mysterious.
So beast 🙏🏾🙏🏾🫣❤️❤️🥰
Now it all makes sense with Jamie Thomas’ ollie. Jesus what a slam
10:05 is one of the most profound things I’ve ever heard about skateboarding.
Never seen heard this before until now. Wow. What a treat. I miss you D
Tom LOVES the drugs.
Splifffffff
Hahaha 😝 this is epic. ❤️🔥
Penny's vibes are unmatched. Pure wizard with a heart of gold, magic traveller of the multiverse. All time GOAT. So cool. Thanks for sharing.
Iv been waiting for this, hang on a second flick inhale......what was that? LOL
SOTY for life
Penny is a interviewer's worst nightmare...lol Penny a LEGEND.
Incredible 💯💯💯
I was sitting right behind. Malraux spot in Bordeaux. I reckon that was in 2000. Spent my youth there . Sad this place is gone for good. MX WIF
someone plug her socials 🤧
GINO:)
Vision was GARBAGE. If your wore Visions back in the day you were a POSER..u looked alot cooler wearing what ever kind of shoes and goodwill clothes..Vision was so over the top and their big WHAM type logos were Hella lame. IMO But the GONZ is a legend and you can't hate on the man for getting that Vision money..back in the day you got money where ever you could you know.
I saw the raw tapes of this on another channel. All this editing ruins the vibe
Love the interview. So chill
Funny
