Good timing WG, I just logged in. Happy New Year 2025 to you & your family. 🇦🇺 1:36 What a shot!
How much is this
Merry Christmas
The ship doesn't sink because it's an unsinkable and also the Japanese are screwed
My grandfather buddy Fountin was the courtermaster for the uss Portland in midway and several battles in Asia
724=13 lucky number👁️
I know that two of her main guns are at a military museum in centre county Pennsylvania
😮😮😮
I'm confused on the last part, did it get scrapped into cars?
It's a representation of where that metal might be today. We will never know, but it keeps it interesting to think about.
Cheers from Canberra WG. 🇦🇺 ⚓. 4,000 took me ages, all the best. 3:10 nice shot of Belfast at the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Thanks! There's some amazing shots of Belfast on Google, more than I expected.
@@warshipguy2005yes, she's a beauty.
RIP CV5
RIP CV-5 indeed. At least CV-10 carries her name
i played this ship, its good only for sinking
😢😢
This old Girl is part of American folklore. She's a cultural gem, a jewel in the crown of American manufacturing and military prowess. She's the closest thing America has to a crown, and I hope she is polished and shown off for millennia. She was in the thick of the fighting, and saved countless American lives. Treasure her, America.
RIP Ol girl, thank you for your service, least we ever forget.
This aged bad…
Something about old military ships made them feel elegant and wise. Somewhere along the lines of a wise grandfather
@@williamdennis7652 I agree, especially with the super dreadnoughts like Tennessee
I always looked at them like a perverted uncle. They pop up when you least expect them and do damage that traumatizes you for years to come.
@yoyo5069 lmao
USS Gyatt is the world first destroyer equipped with guided missiles and people online making jokes about it is depressing.
@@Kaungkhantzin7 I agree, I've actually removed the worst comments because of this.
So I guess Haida never flew the Canadian flag just the British Ensign since the maple leaf only happened in 1965?
But if we were ever to have to go to naval war there is rumors that they would bring them back because they gave the USS Iowa CIWS and Missiles
Noooooo ss american star
This is a great video, thank you very much! I cant wait to show my dad this video. My dad was on the boat this day with the Queen, I have a nice picture of him with the Royal Family, at the time my dad was a Mate. I just phoned my dad and told him about this video and he daid i still have the pass that everyone had to wear that day when the RF was there. He said do you want the pass? So thanks to your video I'm getting this pass that i didn't even know existed 👍
Nice montage WG. I still love that music, but damn I hate shorts so thanks. Cheers from Canberra 🇦🇺
PS: I've had it playing in the background just for the music, it all adds to your watch time!
Thanks! I prefer normal videos over shorts for watching, too.
Salt Spring Queen @3:08 (Salt Spring Island
At low tide, just a very small part is above water, or at least has been said from last year.
@Ro6entX you can see where she was in satellite images, but yeah, almost nothings left, and it's hard to see where she is otherwise.
She was one of the successful warship of the world.
The second photo is her sister ship, Washington.
It's North Carolina (the hull number needs to be zoomed in to tell). There is one of Washington that is very similar, though.
@@warshipguy2005it's definitely Washington, her hull number is 56 and will look very similar to NC's 55. This photo is of Washington taking on supplies off the coast of New York before heading to the Pacific in August 1942. North Carolina wasn't painted in that Ms.22 camouflage until 1944-45 timeframe, and by then she'd had the enclosed bridge wing around the battle II control station added (stryker's bridge), the extra bridge wing isn't visible in this photo. Furthermore the upper sky control bridge has multi layered crenelation that NC's sky control bridge does have and never did have. There's also the two enclosed 40mm gun tubs right up at the end of the bow, these were also unique to Washington.
🦈🦈🦈🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Been on her
@@Bestplayer-mx6yb I definitely want to see her at some point in the future
Now its a hotel ship in dubai
@@CrackersandNuts-cj2qj That's QE2, her replacement
Oh ok
I love this ship!!!!!! Thanks man
@@RMS_CT-1509 No problem, I love the Olympia too!
Ah yes, one of the only ships where it’s in its name state… (jk there is like 10)
how about south carolina
The Bainbridge was commissioned in a very good year.
A sink-ex isn't just to get in practice with the weapons. In this case, they decided to see how well a modern aircraft carrier hull could withstand weapons fire, and that knowledge would be used in later carrier construction. She didn't just "sink" after the sink-ex. They had to scuttle her, because of how well she held up!
@BlackEpyon They've done that with old dreadnought too after some like New York and Nevada didn't sink either back in the late 40s. Always good when ships hold up to what you throw at them
I made a video similar to this one but with different ships (and I didn’t know you made this one until I already finished the video) hope you don’t mind
Nice video
Non american here. Is the south Dakota class also completely preserved just like the Iowa,s?
No, 2 of the 4 are. Both Alabama BB-60 and Massachusetts BB-59. Works with the iowas being 61-64 so the last 6 American battleships are all preserved
Does anybody know which submarine is sitting beside the Vampire in the 1990 photograph?
I'm glad you're back, I missed your videos
Her elder sister USS Texas survives as she was launched and commissioned before NY. NY ate two nukes to the face as well as Nevada and Pennsylvania did as well. Long live the Queen of the high Seas USS Texas.
Theres another uss america :>
I love estonia
