New Metal & Rock Additions To My Collection!
A music collector does what a music collector does, and that is to.... collect music! (duh) In the last 2 months I acquired a few albums via online, or by going to local metal shows, and in this video I discuss my latest acquisitions. As always, thank you for watching! And drop me a note in the comments if you have any of these albums or what you think of them! Cheers!

The First CD I Ever Bought!
Переглядів 261Рік тому
We all remember that first time we walked into a record store with the goal of buying our first CD. I was 12 years old when I walked into my first store and the year was 1995. My family was spending Christmas in Cape Town, South Africa (we were living in Malawi at the time) and after spending the majority of an hour browsing through the selection, I walked out of there clutching Iron Maiden's T...

Do you remember the 5 five albums you ever listened to that got you into metal? Which ones were they? In this video, I go down memory lane to when I was about 11 and 12 years old when I discovered the awesomeness that is metal and hard rock music. It was such a magical time for me as this music changed the course of my life and impacted me in a way that I can still feel today. Do you guys have ...

Heavy Metal CD Unboxing! Shadow Kingdom Records

Ever since I discovered it two years ago, I've always been intrigued by the music Shadow Kingdom Records has been putting out. The fact that they dig up and release cult, obscure, and hard-to-find metal and hard rock from the 70s and 80s, as well as have a great roster of exciting contemporary artists, and also have this overarching theme of the classic 80s horror movie/He-Man esthetic, is pret...

I used to love to buy cd’s until it got to the point where I was running out of space. I imported all of my collection to digital and have them stored on data discs and an external drive. I buy digital albums and it is a lot cheaper that way too. I do understand why people like physical copies though. A lot of people look at their music as a collection. There is no right or wrong and the main thing is to be a music fan and don’t be one of those people that only listens to radio hits on Spotify and Sirius radio. I mean you can, but you are really not listening to the bands and experiencing them if that is all you do

I have about 800 in very good condition. What do you do with them when you die? Let your kids sell them? Or your wife? My kids laugh at my cds. They are in very good condition. Some people will just take all my cds and throw them in trash. They mean alot to me. Metal even brings me closer to God. So what do you do with a collection which means so much to you. Give it to a friend or in your testament? Then he dies and all your cds go to trash lol.

Here are a few albums I think you'll like. They are all drop the needle worthy: Pyromania - Def Leppard (1983): The sweet spot between the edge of High and Dry, and the pop of Hysteria. All the rock, but with better songs and production value. Night Songs (1986) - Cinderella: If AC/DC did hair metal this would be it. Their other albums are a bit hit or miss. Scorpions: Blackout (1982), Love at First Sting (1984), Lovedrive (1979) Suicidal Tendencies - Suicidal Tendencies (1983). Punk metal. Big energy.

I agree. I did the same thing with LPs and 45's then CDs. It's great except.... Some albums have only a few good songs. This means you have to put on the album, skip to the song then put on another album. This is far worse on records and tapes. Video Idea: Albums you can just "drop the needle on." No skipping required.

Hey man, I’m right there with you. I’ve been collecting CDs since the early 90s and as long as they’re available, I’ll still be collecting. They’re so easy to store and very accessible. I also collect vinyl at times but it will never overtake CDs in terms of numbers. And yeah, they’re definitely less expensive. Some of the prices they ask for vinyl these days are just outrageous. But I live in Albuquerque where CDs are not nearly as available as they once were. The selection out here is very minimal and I’m always having to special order what I really want. But hey, that still won’t stop me from collecting.

Hi from the UK. Agree with all you say. I am 66 years old and have been buying music on physical media for 55 of them. I own some 4000 CDs and around 500 vinyl albums plus 9 cassettes. I have a music room in my home specially dedicated to my collection. It is a great musical sanctuary. Streaming can never match my explorations of my own collection. Sad thing is that currently in the UK it is very difficult to actually purchase CDs in a store anymore. Our big retail stores no longer stock them and independent music stores now focus almost exclusively on vinyl. Vinyl is currently hip and CDs are not. We used to have multiple music chain stores such as HMV, Tower, Virgin and others. Now only HMV remains and their CD selection is very small. However, the online options are very good with Cherry Red Records being outstanding.

I think I have the same amount of cds as you, maybe a little bit more, I also have some music dvds as well. I also watched your video on why you still love to collect cds in the digital era , what a fantastic video as well. I don't really buy as much cds as before however been collecting since the 90's, I'm 41 now, the majority of my collection was brought from charity shops and car boot sales from over the years, a small handful purchased from HMV, but I like the way you described in your other video how you would go back to your cds and look through them. I do the same thing, sometimes I will just sit beside them for hours just reading through the booklets and looking at the artwork, just having that emotional connection. I love the variety of genres you have in your collection, its the same for me though there are a lot of cds in my collection I would probably never listen to again however just looking at them brings back memories, especially in the 90's era. I was going to ask you to check out my youtube page however its full of the mary poppins music that you don't really like hahaha. Great description on your collection though, best I have seen on youtube. Keep safe brother.

I'vw been buying/collecting CDs since the mid 80s around 1984/5 . 1. I agree and get them for the physical media reason as well. You can lissten to it anytime. With streaming if the service decides to stop providing a song, due to a newer version being available or for whatever you still have the song to listen to. 2. Yeah OK flipping through the albums can be fun. 3. yes seeing the collection is more fun than seeing just a list of it. 4. Agree. The prices for vinyl records now-days is ridiculous. There is no reason they should b e so expensive, so what if the version is limited to 1,000 smokey transparent red and black splatter vinyl. there is nothing wrong with plain ordinary black vinyl. 5. Agree better than just random "shuffle" playing. Plus some of the classic albums from the '70s were CONCEPT albums that make much more sense when played in the intended order. Sometimes the intended order sets an overall mood. 6. Yes CD sound quality is the clearest. My only problem with CD quality comes form the older 1980s to 1990s versions of CDs where the overall volume is much much lower than modern CDs. When listening to CDs in my car these older CDs I have to crank up the volume to even hear them. It seems that using a more modern CD player is also a test for determaning the real age of a CD. I'm watching this video in the greater Washington DC area. I live in Silver Spring MD.
