istanbul life in a christmas week //istanbul diaries
hey hey,
Welcome back to Istanbul Diaries! If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve always been a bit of a low-key Christmas person. So this Christmas week in Istanbul felt just right for me-nothing over-the-top or forced, just a peaceful blend of studying for finals, fighting off a cold, and soaking in the quieter side of the holiday season.
With exams dominating my schedule, I didn’t have time for big celebrations, and honestly, I wasn’t looking for them. Instead, I embraced a slower pace, focused on my own plans, and found small moments of joy where I could. One of those moments? A visit to the opera, which was a beautiful escape from all the stress-something simple yet meaningful to enjoy during a not-so-festive time.
In this episode of Istanbul Diaries, I’m sharing how I’ve always preferred a more understated holiday vibe. Christmas in Istanbul felt a little different this year, and that was okay. It’s a reminder that the holiday season doesn’t need to be loud or extravagant to be special-it’s about making space for what truly matters to you.
