A search for warmer roads 2
A Search For Warmer Roads 2 . What started as out as 5 friends headed south for some much needed riding, parting and all around good times turned into a full on bad boy rendezvous. A few friends decided to jump on last minute and we made the best of it. Trailering out of our 30 degree mountain valley into warm southern Utah and riding into Vegas. Minimal breakdown, and maximum hood times. #ridinghoods #greasyboys

So You Think You Want An Old Chopper?
Переглядів 33 тис.2 роки тому
In this video i talk about the good and bad of building a old chopper
Hard to believe it's the only video of its kind, I've had my 73 FL since 91 and have always meant to do it. The good quality kits are hard to find now a days as well
This is great man. Quick question though what if I'm doing a battery delete?
great vid n diagram i took a picture of that shit, simpler breaking it down into 3 systems
I realized this is a two-year-old video. But I was wondering if anybody knows how to convert a 1982 FLT five speed to a kickstart. I've looked all over the internet trying to find a kickstart conversion and haven't seen anything. I'm still running the stock engine and transmission that came in the bike when it was new.
For me points piss on Electroshit junk .
I’ve only sorted the wiring on a couple of bikes using the original loom, and have now decided just start from scratch with new wiring. Wiring isn’t that complicated, what is, is decoding the loom and wiring diagram.
Killer video! I’m looking at getting one for my 48 pan as well. Always curious to hear thoughts after it’s been used for a while
@@brandonclancy6886 my brother has had one on his bike for a while. He loves it. My pan hasn’t been ridden much since I finished it unfortunately
great vid a lot of channels afraid to get into detail on shit cause they dont want bad feedback but if your tackling a clutch on an old shovel or pan hopefully ya have the sense to check your specs n shit n not blame the youtuber most dudes just looking for a few tips or a reminder before they take the plunge.. thanx
@@mickey-eq5vw not to mention most of the “proper torque specs” for these 50+ old engines/transmissions will rip the old ass aluminum threads out.
@ 100% i use an old fashion torque wrench for that reason instead of a click it moves a needle i rarely go all the way to spec, i noticed ya hadnt made a video a while i hope ya keep up with it 🍻
@@mickey-eq5vw I’ve had a couple big changes. I’ll be putting out a new video soon
@ goodshit theres an audience lots of younger guys getting into building choppers its come full circle they wanna make their own shit n hit the open road!
goodstuff can destroy your trans..great vid important details 🍻
nice! i think krispy chopper uses butts seats too
only thing i might add is ya might need a little more power for electronic maybe a little more juice on the battery depending what else is on the bike, i run points cause im cheap great vid good job tackling that im always debating on moving to electronic ha
subscibed right away bring it on homie im all about another chopper channel, I was born into choppers n building bikes n im still an idiot always trying to learn or see more ideas or better ways to get something done..For any chopper or motorcycle newbies shit is expensive asf! ha if ya buy cheap shit your just gonna have to rebuy it ha
ya got the good Vtwin hardtail with the the tranny plate seems like the way to go extra $4-500 but less cuts n welds..i might bite the bullet n scoop one of them up i dont like how ya cut the post molds on the throttle addiction kit n reweld em
These are the types of videos I like to see!! Reviewing parts and accessories, and doing mods on the older bikes. I have a '49 Pan chopper and a '96 FXSTC, so I'm particularly interested in the pans, knuckles, and shovelhead choppers. Thanks!
Very good video and very good informations. But I have to disagree regarding welding, you can weld on the bike frame without disconnecting the battery cable, you won't burn anything. I've done it many times.
@@marcelmot1567 I’ve done it and got away with it many times and I’ve seen it mess up these cheap Chinese electric ignitions also. Pretty easy to just disconnect your ground cable.
Such a great explanation. Thank you for posting!
Nothing like an honest man...
Best damn video on this issue....I am gonna go with the S&S single fire
this is exactly what i needed! where can i get some shims? just like a washer type shim?
@@DEATHMETALCYCLE I like to use small block Chevy starter shims. You can pick them up at any parts store and they come in different thickness
@ thanks! Im gunna try this tomorrow
Hell yeah! Thanks man!
I would need to carry a prybar for when it gets stuck in the crack of my arse.
Omg that’s so simple. I’m about to do this to my 1974 shovel trike. Thanks for the informative video.
Great tips, thank you! Curious.. any reasons you'd recommend a Big Twin Evo over the Sportster Evo? I hear the Big Twin has more options, one example being that the transmission isn't attached. Things like that. What would you recommend? I do like the bigger displacement, but I'm curious.
I have been busy since May.... and I still haven't fixed the godd... mn bike. A simple LS650 bobber.. Tried so far 6 diagrams... No luck so far. Any idea how I feel?
Sounds like you have a very limited knowledge on how electronic ignition actually operates. Stock mid 80s & up HD units are cheap and last for 10s of thousands of miles with no moving parts or adjustments. A circuit breaker type ignition requires constant maintenance and has a much higher failure rate.
Can I swap out my worn out 5 finger basket with a 3 finger basket..Is it just a straight swap?
Yes
🐐❤
my first chopper - was a xs650 that i hardtailed - but it vibrated so much i could barely hold onto the bars- and it was slow- so i put an 883 in it which made it a realy nice riding bike -still realy slow - but a realy nice bike- stupidly i sold it "dont ever sell your bike -bills come and go but if you sell your bike its gone for ever"
I will most likely never build a shovel but at least I know how now 😂
How do you know you even have this issue
More videos please
Great video! Any idea why my rear running light/brakelight goes out as soon as I accelerate and comes back on at idle?
No info about mechanical magnetic ignition 😊
Thank you so much for the info. Appreciate you sharing all the good stuff 🤙🏼
Great vid !!
Nice video. I subscribed and will be watching more of your videos!
purple is nice 💋 😸 👍
Don't forget the hub lock washer under the hub nut.
Why is the hub bearing retainer on the 5 finger hub backwards.
I appreciate all your help 👍
Great video, perhaps you could give some tips on how to identify short circuits or bad grounding?
This video is gold. Simplifying the wiring on a Shovel I just got and this is exactly what I was looking for.
Nice video. Thanks for the explanation. I'm wiring a 66 kick start only iron head this weekend
I have an 86 sportster 883 to 1200 with super E carb. Runs like a spotted ass ape. But something went WRONG. Maybe this is it. Keep it up my brother in arms🎉
Hey. Not to be a shit. Maybe try it without the music. Kinda hard to Hear you. Im an OLD man without hearing ads😂
Hi man I’m from tahoe too. I have a 1200 sportster i would like to hardtail at some point and it would be nice to have some help.
@@beeemex I’m in Utah
Dude, best simplified wiring video I've found yet and I've been searching for weeks! Question: I have a 03XL1200, regarding the charging system, did you add the 30 AMP breaker, or does the bike already have that?
@@jessevargas8181 your bike should have a 30 amp breaker.
I had two Dynatek ignitons and two Ultima ignitions die on me. The Ultima ignitions got wet and just die. Once when I washed my bike and another time when I rode through a deep puddle (road flooded). I'm over electronic ignitions. I'm running points and it has been totally fine. I could have saved myself $1000 running points in my bikes over the years.
The only thing is I wish you would have done is said what you recommended what gauge wire for each one would be recommended, so I don't heat some wire and burn it down 😊🔥
