Переглядів 2812 місяці тому
Im trying out ChemX Stars and Stripes Touch free Car wash. I opted for the 1 gallon jugs with two Foam Cannons. I had already washed all of the big Chunky mud off of my Jeep and pre rinsed both vehicles, letting them dry in the shade to cool off. Im Sorry about the shaky video, my kids really wanted to help. It’s amazing what a quick check can save you! Now let’s all hope I can get it fixed before I break it! Be safe out there and CHECK YOUR TRUCKS!

2022 Ram 3500 Cummins. 68rfe transmission issue. Bulletproof EGR cooler. 19.5” wheel and tire swap Hotshot setup from 2022 moving into 2023
Great video. Other than the sound, what other issues made u make this repair? I have a 2022 ram 3500 as well and I keep losing coolant with no visible leak. After about 3-4 hours of driving the temp starts to climb. I’d stop and have to add coolant. Went through 2 jugs of coolant on a 4 hour and 40 minute trip yesterday. Did you have a similar issue?
I apologize for the sound! I never got into the UA-cam thing enough to justify better equipment. I had a very similar issue! Not even white smoke or white residue on the tail pipe. Just losing coolant. My mechanic friend told me the 2 most common issues for it would either be a head gasket or the EGR cooler and considering I was half way across the country I took the risk buying the EGR cooler. It worked and I had the truck for another 40,000+ miles after I did the fix with no issues at all. Customer service at bullletproof is phenomenal and I would happily do business with them again! I hope this helps you
@@jonalvarez4790 lol I was referring to the sound your vehicle was making but I definitely appreciate the info bro! Be blessed 💯
@@phirstplaceg1515 it only made a sound because I didn’t replace the gasket between the exhaust and EGR cooler. Once I changed that it was all normal
The piece of plastic you are talking about at 0:48, mine seems to be two separate pieces, one of which was broke into 2 giving me 3 total pieces. I’m considering using jb weld as none of the dealerships near me seem to have any of the replacements in stock. Any insight you can offer?
How is this upgrade going?
I just got rid of the truck with about 40,000 miles on the new EGR cooler. 0 issues. And the truck had no further issues after this
Thanks
Yooooooo thanku!!!
Hey how much you spent in you new EGR and what brand is it?
It’s a bulletproof EGR cooler. It was $1300 and the gaskets were about $100. I think it was $150-200 or so to have the cooling system flushed when I finished
Replace your shocks to a heavy duty I used Napa fleet it cut down my way by 60%. I’m telling you factory shocks are no good they’re blown out by now.
That’s definitely something I’ve been wanting to do. I’ve really been wanting to put some fox shocks on it, but I might just have to look at those Napa shocks! I appreciate the advice!
whats the license requirements? class b no airbrakes? Glad the 68rfe is holding out, im at 78k with my 21 currently. looking at blackmarket performance for the dipstick devise like I did with their cat filter mod. Not a hotshotter just a for private and haul heavy crap all the time.
Class A. As far as I can recall class B is more for busses and dump trucks, I remember reading somewhere that you can only pull 10k with a class B.. I took the test in this truck so it’s ClassA no air brakes. I’d really like to do the cat filter mod once I start getting back on my feet from all these breakdowns. I hate that rear filter. It seems like no matter how much you drain out of it it still makes a huge mess. The biggest piece of advice I can give about these transmissions is to manually shift in the hills and mountains when you’re loaded. Most hills I can lock it into 5th and it’ll hold that gear really well. Otherwise it keeps wanting to shift constantly making the trans heat up
@@jonalvarez4790 good to know. im not a youtuber, just a semi mechanically inclined chick figuring all this out mostly. But it sounds like all your problems are mostly emissions issues (plz correct me if im totally wrong). Again pardon my ignorance as I only drive and work on the cummns here and there and watching everyones sucess r what to look out fors. The cat filter mod with horrible directions and several calls to the company took about 4 hours in total and probably add a couple emotional moments in there but I did it. everything is easy however I recommend no matter what get the fuel heaters like I did. I just like factory components and systems working even if its a factory capability with a modified system. Next I want to tackle a banks intake, horn, and idash kit.
@@ms.carroll5574 yes, most issues in these trucks are emissions related. I could have just deleted the truck and been done with it, but there’s no programming for the 22s yet. The banks intake will be a great idea. The grid heater is a very common issue for these trucks. There’s a bolt on the inside of it that corrodes and breaks off, falling into the motor and destroying cylinder 6. Head gaskets are also very common for these. It’s about $5k to have it properly fixed.. I plan on talking to a mechanic friend to see if he thinks installing head studs now might help keep the issue at bay.
@@jonalvarez4790 Also dont let ppl tell you the 68rfe is trash because ive had good uck with both an 09 and my current 21.
@@ms.carroll5574 they have issues like everything else. Just take care of it and don’t put to much of a tune on it and it’ll hold up just as well as the next
How often do you rotate your tires? There are guys doing it every 5-10k and they good life from a set.
I’ll probably do it around 20-30k with the miles I put on this 5-10k rotations would be excessive. I’m not sure how long this set will last. I’m hoping for 100-150k and with how little they’ve worn in 14k I’m feeling confident they’ll last that long
