Is coverall a new product? I must have missed this… I’m still using grand finale (?)
Hey! Cover All is a new product that takes the place of sanding/stripping tumblers during prep. You still need a topcoat like Grande' Finale to protect your designs. Check it out! www.crystalac.com/products/cover-all-tumbler-prep
It is relatively new. It's really is amazing. I do sublimation too and I did a tumbler with sublimation then put Cover All on and then Grand Finale with a little sparkle and it was amazing!
How many layers did you do? Do you have to wet the brush first?
@kishante25 3 to 5 coats typically. A damp brush is fine bit dry works great too.
First viewer🎉🎉🎉🎉 Hi David!!!
@@cgzmn7 HOWDY!
Used Crystalac Poly for a vintage pinball machine cabinet topcoat using these methods, sprayed using a budget HVLP gun, outside in 75 degree non-sunny day, about 70% humidity... I did use the retarder at a little more than 5%... the end result was absolutely amazing with almost 0 orange peel... remember prep is key... results were absolutely beautiful.
Nice. I think I watched you paint this table with a colored topcoat? . I read somewhere that multiple coats are necessary for something like a heavy use dresser...because the drawers are opened and closed a lot, how many coats would you say? Also, can this be used on water based stain? Lastly, is the the gloss finish? and what finish would you recommend for a chest of drawers or dresser? thanks
@roths7 Think of it like your applying sunscreen while at the beach. Layers equil protection. For furniture 3 to 5 coats depending on the amount of traffic is plenty.
Was that gloss? semi gloss? thanks Would be nice to see it dry
@roths7 Yes. Brite Tone gloss.
is that a gloss finish? have you done any videos comparing the different clear finishes? thanks
@@roths7Here is a great place to start. www.crystalacacademy.com
Great stuff
Awesome video!
Looking great team!
LOVE the video, ya'll!
Love the Crystalac company so much!!!
I love the color of that table!
I have some wooden cutting boards I would like to decorate and finish so this is a great help. I have a brand new tub of Britt one I purchased a while back but never opened. Can I mix coloring to it?
You can. Just make sure the color is compatible with water. Also, when adding color don't add to much. Adding to much color to try and achieve one coat coverage may cause you issues. You want to do at least 3 to 4 coats.
Can you not use a bigger brush? Seems like that took forever.
Brush size is really a preference. We chose to use the 2in foam brush from CrystaLac in order to show the application process while using a foam brush. It took less then 5 minutes with this one. It may shorten the time a minute or 2 with a larger bush.
@@crystalacofficial Ok, thank you!!
Now you tell me. LOL Cheers!
Did you make the tumbler turner?
No, we have had that one for a couple of years. Lesley Palmer with Tiny Yet Mighty Designs made it. I'm not sure if she is still making them.
Ty so much for the info. I really appreciate it. Tfs 😊have a Happy Holidays to your family 🎁🎄
Is this product food safe to be able to use in the kitchen as well? Can you cut on it?
All products we manufacture are FDA, EPA, OSHA, and Paint Care compliant for a food safe product
So my question is, is my crystalac-brite tone still okay to use if it sat for a long time the container wasn’t completely sealed and it got thick and a dark color. I tried using it and it went on clear still but like I said it’s kinda thick. Is that okay?
I e had a quart of BT unopened for about a year. I’ve been too afraid to use it as I am originally an epoxy user, until I almost killed myself over Christmas tumbler season. (My own stupidity) anyhow, I’ve just opened the BT for the first time and poured it into a condiment bottle. The bottle has a bit of an opacity finish to it. Through the bottle it’s amber colored. I’ve sealed the tumbler I am about to put it on with the Crystalac glitter glue, (and before I decided I was goi t to go the Crystalac route I previously sealed the glitter with clear matte spray paint-then changed my mind on finishing the tumbler with epoxy and added a hefty coat of glitter glue) the glitter is a light to lilac purple. I’m afraid to move ahead with the BT out of fear it’s going to stain. It I’m hearing you correctly, the amber color should not show when dried, correct?? Maybe I’ll run a little test on an old tumbler just to be sure. Thanks
I didn’t learn a single thing from the video.
I hate that. Not everyone learns the same way. If you have a specific way that helps you, we will be glad to explain or create a video for you.
First time user of Crystalac. Hoping to find something less complicated than Resin. I am using on hand painted glass vases, candle holders, and ornaments. I used on two ornaments and a small vase. Got brush marks on all 3 using a slightly dampened sponge brush. I’m not sure if I overworked it, the coating was to thin or thick, or what. Will I be able to eliminate the marks with additional coats?
Hey, which CrystaLac Company product are you using?
@@crystalacofficial Grand finale. I also meant coats rather than costs in my last comment. 🥴
Yes 🙌🏻 🙌🏻🙌🏻…. This is a serious issue…. David is correct. This is a very simple solution to prevent lung issues..
This gives me a great idea for my craft room floor 😀
Hi Dave if I get orange peel on my tumbler is there way of getting rid of it? Also what are the temperatures it has to be during re coat time and dry time?
How do you get bubbles out?
My dining room table is in desperate need to be refinished so this is exciting that it’s just this easy!
The prep covered in the video is key. Can't have wax or silicone from furniture polish present. The only other requirement is have fun with your project and share your results with us! 😆 🤣 😂
@@crystalacofficial thank you! I will do that! Can any polyurethane be mixed with the Crystalac paints? I just got my kit and I had a tub of B.T. I bought last year and sort of forgot about it. I had to take a break from tumblers to work on other projects but wanted to get away from epoxy when I started back up.
@Jana - The Crafty Realtor Nope. No 2 polyurethanes are made the same. The word Polyurethane can be 1000s of different combinations of products. Some oil, some heavy solvent, and some waterbased. Some are formulated for specific types of projects and others not. Some can be used for exterior projects, some not.
Can this gold mica liquid be used to dip/marble dye white canvas sneakers?
I disagree also my entire collection of red glitter Christmas wine glasses are now orange! Used all Crystalac products and a brand new batch of BT I’m so angry! This stuff is too expensive to be wasting I’m going to start using learning how to do epoxy. I’m done
That is glitter bleed. We always recommend sealing your glitter well before applying any waterbased products. Some glitters are worse then others.
I can use this under and/or over epoxy resin, right? To make sure colored epoxy doesn’t bleed into the surrounding wood and stain it (if I’m filling a crack or hole with epoxy with black mica powder). And would I be able to put it over epoxy that’s cured and only in cracks/holes?
Great question. We don't recommend epoxy over but it is fine to go over epoxy. As long as the epoxy is totally off gassed.
Does your company have any deep pour products.
Great question. We only manufacture waterbased products. Deep pour products require heavy, toxic solvents in order for it to coalesce, dry, and cure properly. We strive to ensure the safety of our customers and employees which prevents us from manufacturing those types of products.
Are he N94 masks adequate protection for BT and GF sanding?
Just fine.
Thanks for explaining that, most advertisements for UV top coats hint at color protection and fail to state it is for the top coat protection not the color under it. I have used a few your products after seeing it advertised by Chad, and find them to be as good or better than the big brands.
Thank you!
I completed a guitar with transparent black and I have to say this product is absolutely awesome. It's easy to use and very forgiving for newbies. NO SMELL!!!!! I drive my wife nuts with all the chemical smells I have used and this doesn't seem to have a smell. It can be compound buffed and it comes out like glass. Seriously, if anyone is thinking of trying this stuff- do it! Thanks for your advice on this video. I'm sold- well done! 👍
Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Looking forward to using this paint. I flip furniture on the weekends since I have a regular full time job so this would save me so many steps n time to get a project done in one weekend! Thank you!
Why do all my liquid mica applications draw up and pool together during the drying process? I’ve tried multiple ways to apply it. It happens every time.
Also, do these gel stains have the same instructions and guidelines as the pigments? 4 hour dry time? Can be mixed with brite tone?
Micas are heavy super concentrated and will tend to be streaky if not diluted with enough Brite Tone. They are also transparent when diluted, so they will take a few coats to get fuller coverage. Also be very light with your brush when applying so you don’t put grooves in the finish.
The Gel stains are already premixed with the pigments and ready to paint as is. Give them about 2 hours to dry before recoating. On the other hand, the pigments are super concentrated and are used by adding into a base or medium to make your colors. They are not meant to be used by themselves.
Ok so I need to use less mica and more brite tone maybe. I will try that. And also thank you for explaining the gel stains! I. Understand now. Thank you!
Hello there. I am loving these products. I am however having an issue with one. The liquid mica. No matter how I apply it, it clumps together and leaves streaks or clumps during the drying process. The application will look perfect but I come back and the liquid mica pools together in areas all over the cup. How can I prevent this?
Good morning. Are you mixing the mica into your Brite Tone?
Yes. I did.
Can I use bt or ep with mica as a base? I want to have a semi sheer base with a little shimmer and see mostly the stainless through my shimmery sheer mica.
Absolutely. Prep is still very important. Both products have rust inhibitors built in and adhesion qualities that were designed in to allow them to used on steel, glass, fiberglass, and wood.
Yay!!! That’s awesome! Thank you! I couldn’t find that answer anywhere online. I appreciate you.
I have another question. I have used glitter glue and the tack it method with glitter. Can I hand paint using your brand of flip in awesome paints? Or using white with pigment?
Thank you for the instructional video. Very helpful.

When sanding to level , do you do this with each sanding layer? 3-4 coats - sand 3- 4 coats sand
Some do it every 3 or 4. No need to do more then that. And if doing a non-chunky you shouldn't need to sand at all.
Doing a Pendleton and my GG doesn't want to hold glitter..what am I doing wrong
Thank you for the question. Glittle Glue is designed to be applied in thin coats in order for it to dry properly. With that thin coat you can only get so much glitter into it. Think about it like this. If you have an ounce of water in a glass, and you add 3 ounces of salt to it, there is noway for the salt to devolve into the water. Try adding less glitter to the coat, and do a couple of coats. I hope this helps you.
@@crystalacofficial should I do the wet brush method will that help as well
A damp (not like dripping) brush helps prevent the our products from soaking all of the bristles to the top of the brush. Helps some with cleanup also.
I mentioned below that I'm doing a guitar (neck and body) could you tell me roughly how many of those bottles I'd need to do three coats? Any help would be greatly appreciated 😊
A 12oz bottle will do several full guitars.
That's really good! Thanks so much for the help!😊
Thank you! I was trying everything and my coats were just not working out. It was drying way too fast on my spinner and I was also getting orange peel after the 2nd coat. I used this method and it worked. I applied it in less than 30 secs and my coat looks smooth! and then I WALKED AWAY lol YAY!
Outstanding I’m so blessed to find your beautiful products I’m new & in the uk do you have uk suppliers

Excellent video! I'm getting ready to use this on a guitar and was trying to find out how well it covers. Thanks! Couldn't have been a better example.👍
Hello David. Looks like a great product. I have a few questions about applying your polyurethane top coat. Can you apply over an oil based stain such as a white wash finish. And do you recommend sand between coats. Thank you for your time.
Good morning and Happy Friday! Great question. Mother Nature sets the rules about oil and water. With all of our products being waterbased including our Extreme Protection it is important to allow the oil based stains to totally dry and off gas. When the stain no longer omits a smell it is safe to apply your coats of Extreme Protection. You may also wanna take a look at our line of stains. Could be a good option for you.
