yeah basically. sampling your own melodies. If you produce a lot you can tell which instrumentals sound better reversed. Like sharp string hits aint the smoothest reversed I found out. Music is all about trying. You can test all the time reversing and see if it sounds cool. I've reversed a group of three melodies that sounded weird. I then muted one melody and the reverse of the two sounded real nice
