Приєднався 15 вер 2017
Hi and thank you for being curious.
My name is Ross and I live in South Devon England.
When it comes to Bonsai I like finding things to do on a daily basis.
So, the idea of this channel is to show you guys what I do.
Being Bonsai self taught, my aim is to project a personal and light hearted approach to this ancient art form.
I hope now and again you can join me for a short stroll down my path - and enjoy the world of Bonsai.
During my video's, I never ask for you to comment, like or subscribe, having said that,
I do very much appreciate your views and comments. And if you do subscribe it doesn't go unnoticed.
Thank you for taking the time.

Thank you Nerina. Their's more styling videos to come.
Gnarly wire bite. Wrinkles the bark.
Great video! I'm looking forward to seeing these progress under your care and direction. Sorry to hear about the dead pine mate
I love the look of this small black pine - such a great gnarly trunk.
Thanks for the shout out and great to see you trying out this experiment too. I look forward seeing these as they develop. I wish I’d had ten trees to experiment with 😂😂😂 I saw, I think it was Graham Potter, who was talking about learning trees by having multiple of the same tree. That way you can try different things on them and learn what works and what doesn’t, and see the side by side results. It was really the inspiration for me starting my experiment. And I chose pines because I saw some stunning pines at Bonsai Show LIVE at Telford and have become a bit obsessed. I’m in West Yorkshire, not far from Leeds, so a way north of where you are. Also that’s one beautiful cat. 🐈
Thank you Jason, love your channel and your garden, also your furry friend. I'm honoured you took time to watch the video. I love trying new things and channels like yours inspires me to do so. Graham Potter is a legend in my eyes I have followed him for years and when collaborating with Kevin Wilson , real magic happens. I didn't want to be seen copying your idea, hence the box and the shout out, I just thought the 3 subscribers I have😂 no doubt watch your channel and thought it would be another idea to try. Also good luck with you trees, I'm looking forward to seeing them in future videos. I have to apologise, I have been told I was pronouncing your name wrong in the video, so I do apologise. Thank you for your videos, I will try to aspire, its early days for me regarding the UA-cam journey. Thank you again Ross
@@rosspayne1933👍🙏🌲
avin' 10 white pines at one time is always a good thing! What sort of price are they at that size if you don't mid me asking.
£16 each, I thought a bargain hence getting 10. Thank you for watching
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you.
Thank you, short video cause it was really hard to film and work one-handed.
Great benches...TFS...
I do prefer a more organic mix with junipers, they seem to like it where I live, 25% quality compost, 25% pine bark, 50% bonsai Pro mix. Make sure you have really good drainage through the bottom of the pot, when using a more organic mix..
This reminds me of the difference between realism and impressionism in painting. Realism, like the powerful, Japanese rigidity in bonsai, can sometimes seem "too perfect" and fussy. Impressionism, like a more natural-looking bonsai one might view in China, offers more of a "feeling" that changes depending on one's vantage point. I value both styles of bonsai and painting. Wonderful video. Wonderful trees. Thanks for your explanations and tips.
What type of soil you use under the Akadama ? I mean the soil mixture that the roots should grow in that ? I already thank you for your reply and guidance 🙏
I suggest you wear a pair of gloves
another good job
Thank you, I make it up as I go along😂
Thank you that's very kind. A new video is out in the next 2-3 hours, could be interesting to you regarding cascade.
These are beautiful cascade junipers. I'm going to style my first cascade in the next week or so. This gives me inspiration.
I love Hinoki Cypress but they look like they need advanced pruning techniques so I have stayed clear thus far...Your are very nice...Thanks for sharing...Sequim, Wa...
Really nice...Nursery stock to a beautiful tree...Well done...Thanks...Sequim, Wa...

Time will tell but I have confidence, we will look at again in the new year.
I like the styling but I'm not really sure if the tree will be able to withstand such a shock from all that heavy pruning and a repot at the same time. Best of luck though.
Thé car perfect, thé man very destructive.. It was si beautiful !?
Thank you guys.
Thank you, very kind words. Is and will be a lovely tree.
No thicker than a pencil, matchstick size is ago to. Thank you, I love cuttings.
Love it, some useful advice from someone who certainly knows their stuff. Not sure about the bedroom invasion scenario, that room is for sleeping and of course waring funky P-J's..😂. Thank you for your advice and personal process, its great to learn. Thank you for watching.

Beautiful job very good progress, congratulations,🙏👍👍👍🙏🙏
Nice long video! I have really high success with my Itoigawa cuttings, but I look for nice healthy growing tips when taking the cutting from the mother plant, clean up the cutting, dip it in rooting powder, plant it really deep in cheapo potting soil, and then it goes in my little propagator that I sit on a thermostat controlled heatmat in my cupboard on my bedroom. When they start growing, I start giving them Kaizen Nitro+ and I turn the little LED strip on, then transplant them into 1 litre mesh baskets filled with pure akadama and wire them the following year, and the following year after that do the pot-in-pot method - just plant the 1 litre mesh basket in a much larger mesh basket filled with akadama. The speed they thicken this way is insane! I'm the same with my Japanese Maples too. I can understand in the US and Canada, but in the UK they're absolutely fine outside all year round unprotected 🤷♂️
When (time of the year) did you do all this work?
What is the thickest you can go with juniper cuttings and have any success? Your older cuttings look great!
nice trees
Beautiful trees
It really looks awesome. I think after you learn rules in any art there is a next phase where you start breaking rules and start being creative. Instead of waiting for years you have your own masterpiece bonsai that really looks unique and beatifull. And with time it will look better and better.
Thank you, such true and welcoming words.
the famous peter chan bag trick 😂😂😂
That white pine is well on the way to becoming a fine bonsai.
Thank you, love my cats. Having 6 their is generally one or two in the videos.
I watched this video because of that cat! It's so pretty and cute!
I Love my sticks 😂😂😂
The snail's back in another video, he must have read your kind comment.
Thank you
Thank you.
Your welcome, and thank you for watching, meens allot.
What a nice sight - beautiful little tree and chilling cats observing and eating weeds :)
(also, I'm actually jealous - this is how I would love to spend my evenings hahah) - by the way, the kittens at the end are just too adorable! Lucky man.
love your art form! seeing your process in action. thanks! and thanks for sharing your cat! such a great supervisor
Spring is always better if you have autumn frost, in the southwest of England we have mild autumn's but can get caught out in the spring with late frost.
thanks for the detailed look into your process! Just got a cupressus macrocarpa for 5 bucks at a local grocery store so I am looking for tips on similar trees - this was very helpfull :) One question: Is it ok to repot cypress at this time of year or would you advise to wait for early spring?
