Exactly!! This time of year can feel so icky and make me feel really down, especially when it gets so dark so early. But now that I mirror nature and really put effort into self care and almost revitalizing myself before spring it has changed everything. I am SO glad it resonated with you!! I will absolutely be making this videos a common thing on my channel!! It has been so much fun creating them and has inspired me to get more creative in multiple ways. I am really REALLY glad you like them!! I completely agree that it is time for new paints. In fact when you had first suggested them I looked into them and started making a plan for revamping my art supplies in 2025. Especially when this painting was no where close to the colors I had envisioned I knew it was time to upgrade. So thank you for the suggestion because it can be overwhelming with all the options out there! Oh and I totally want to have more texture in all of my art this year! I like seeing some brush strokes in my traditional art especially because that is something that is really hard to mimic in digital art so I love the contrast! This year we are living vibrantly and it is going to be SO fabulous!! And I am so excited to be entering the new year with amazing people like you ❤❤❤ ✨✨

I have lots of goals for 2025 that are art related! The rest of my life well… That’s a whole other story lol But I am willing to give it one last shot with the oil painting only this time. I’m gonna figure it out from the perspective of someone who’s never been told how to do it any other way, except the way I feel guided to do it :-) so that’s the next on my list 😉✨

@@creativesolutionsart-h3o I LOVE that. I think it is amazing how much information we can gain from the internet, teachers, guides, and all that! BUT...sometimes the truly best thing to do is just go into it blindly and figure it all out based on where your own mind takes you. In fact I have realized over the years that the more I research something like a new art technique before I ever try it I end up not wanting to do it because I start to only see all the things you "shouldn't do" or that "don't work." So I have realized I need to try it first and see what I discover, then look things up and ask questions as they come up for me. And I absolutely LOVE that you are trying oil again and not giving up! I will be doing the same thing but with acrylic so we can kind of go into this together!! ❤

@@LuRuStudios I totally agree!!! And that is a much healthier way to approach it. I completely gave up after the class I took, even sold my paint… Then I came across a video where someone was using it in this really unorthodox way, and it looked a lot more appealing to me! turns out she had no idea there was a right or wrong way ““ to use the paint without a pallet! So I drew inspiration from that and I’m gonna give it another shot… Thank you, Leslie! Can’t wait to see what 2025 brings for your channel! and mine!!!❤️🕊️🙏😉✨

@@creativesolutionsart-h3o Okay this resonates with me so much because actually just recently it hit me hard that for years now I have really followed the "rules" and the "right and wrong way" when it comes to literally ANYTHING creative. And it hit me hard how much that has held me back. So this year let's break the "rules" and literally create things however we want!!! 🙌✨✨

Thank you!!! Yeah that is what I have really preferred to do this year is basically use the reference as a pose idea and I think that is why my Patrick Mahomes art drove me so crazy. I wasn't giving myself any creative freedom with that one. So this one felt way more natural. Ok I am going to have to look this up because that sounds so fun!!!

Oh good because I totally felt like my analogy has not landing hahaha! YES!! Trust in the universe is exactly it!!! See I totally fell into the hole of thinking if I don't do things like everyone else then I must be wrong. And it took all year (and even long before I started UA-cam) to actually figure out that doing things differently is way more fun and interesting. Especially if it means you are being truly and authentically yourself. I COMPLETELY get what you mean about looking to other artists and being curious to see if you can achieve those things as well. In fact that is a REALLY good point! Rather than comparing yourself to others, you are getting curious about your own abilities and gathering inspiration from other creative people. I really love that twist on it! You are so right about that and I love your perspective on it all!! Everything you have said has really made me see things in more of a positive and happy light and it really means a lot what you say! ❤❤ Also YOU have been SUPER consistent on UA-cam and I hope you keep that going next year! You have something really unique with still making art even though your vision is creating more obstacles. Like that is SUCH an inspiration and something I think a lot of people need to hear. I TOTALLY get this!!!! This was my with acrylic! It always seems like if I can make one type of art I should be able to make all other types but that is just not true and like you said it can be VERY humbling. The fact that you pushed through those classes regardless is really inspiring!! Plus it might be one of those things that for now you just really don't care to try it again but maybe 3 years from now you will be more interested again and then you will have already done the classes and learned the techniques so you already have that under your belt!! I really love that and I think it is AWESOME that you took a class like that!!!

Hahaha that is so true and what's funny is I REALLY noticed with this picture how much I rely on the makeup theory so not being able to use that AS much was definitely something to work around haha! YES EXACTLY!!! I truly tried making art for SO MANY YEARS but would always give up because I really lacked the confidence to even simply practice it. But then when I got my iPad and could do things digitally and correct things without as much worry THAT is when I really started wanting to practice more and make more art. And then I could actually understand more why something didn't work out and what needed to be done to make it better. And since then I have really enjoyed traditional art more because of what digital was able to help me with. You are so right! Totally nailed that thought process!!! And I like that we are kind of thinking the same way 🥰 Thank you so much! Sleep hasn't been going so well for me but I am actually feeling a LOT better today! But I definitely plan that once vlogmas is over I will be giving myself a bit of a break before 2025 haha ❤❤🥰

Thank you SOO much!!!! Yeah its crazy how its the really small things you don't think about are what capture the likeness the most. So I just did that lighter sketch in Procreate. It is a separate layer that I was able to turn the opacity down and then draw my final sketch on a new layer on top. BUT I have done a few where the first sketch was on a piece of paper and then I just took a photo of it on my iPad, put it in procreate, and went from there. It is really nice having both options! Honestly one of my biggest goals this year is to work more with paper and pencil because while I LOVE digital art for so many things I am bad about using it as a crutch rather than just another way to create art. I don't know if that makes sense. I really look up to you and how you make your art with pencil and paper just so easily. I am hoping I can get as good and confident as you the more I practice. Thank you!!! I really was kind of afraid I would be too tired and give up but I just knew I would be so upset with myself if I did. Plus it's been a LOT of fun posting every day and feeling like I am hanging out with everyone all month!!! 🥰❤ 🎄

You know what really really helps with that confidence that appears to make things look a little easier?SKETCHBOoKS!!!!📓📔📘 And I have one regular Strathmore sketchbook that I use to create the messy/ugly art lol, and a regular pretty mixed media sketchbook that I do the nice artwork in so it’s kind of like a portfolio in a way… And then I can also use it to do sketchbook tours if I make a video :-) but my ugly sketchbook is where it’s really at! This one allows you to get crazy and just do whatever and not care. And if you really hate it, you just tear the page out and throw it away! Plus, you can do color swatches in it… It really helps to have two different types of sketchbooks because I noticed when I only had one. I wanted it all to look nice and I was tearing out too many pages… But I have a feeling you would have the same type of mindset😉

I feel SO much pressure to make my sketchbook look really nice that I end up never using it because I am afraid of really messing it up. So this is brilliant and I already have so many empty ones that now I can just pick them to be my "ugly, messy" sketches and have no pressure or worries!!

Yes!! The traditions really add the magical part to this time of year! And even if the traditions are super different from others or more basic they are still extremely special and important. It is where the heart really comes into play ❤ And somehow sugar cookies taste EVEN better this time of year! I just love that you still have the decorations they made and that you display them❤❤ Kids just have no idea how special those little things are to their parents. Oh I get so excited for all the food that comes with winter and the holidays. In fact I have been craving Christmas dinner for a few months now haha!! And the smells, YES! Especially the smell in the air on a cold night. It carries a lot of feelings and memories. Oh my goodness yes losing family or a loved one is so hard and especially during the time of year that everyone is expected to be full of energy and cheer. I am so sorry for your loss. THAT is soooo weird and almost like the universe was up to something here!! I actually have always LOVED artist's sketchbook tours and that is something I really want to be able to do one day!! In fact I was drawing a lot in my sketchbook for a while there and then for some reason I stopped. Now you are really making me want to get back to it. I'll have to do maybe like a video a week with a new page or something! Just to have a fun little challenge or goal!! 🙌❤

It has served me well but like you are mentioning, I am starting to notice they aren't giving me that real punch of color I am looking for. I really noticed it in that portrait I attempted to watercolor with the super colorful hair. So thank you SO much for the recommendation because I really don't know a lot about different brands but I have been wanting to try and find more vibrant ones!! This is so helpful! I LOVE matcha and never thought to try adding cocoa powder!! I have got to try that! Everything you have said means more to me than I can begin to tell you. And comparing myself has been a struggle since even before really getting into art. It is almost like I have been in a constant state of comparison for years now. I have been very aware of it and trying to work on that so it won't affect my mentality and art as much as it has. Ok also, what you say about social media made me feel like a lightbulb went off in my head. I have started to really back off of instagram and I noticed once I did that I was able to put more effort into my UA-cam. And I am just like you with UA-cam, I think it is a much better platform, more solid, and gives more opportunity. I am really tired of having to fit my art into 60 seconds just for a reel, you know? A goal in 2025 is to really put all focus into UA-cam. I am soooo bad at doing 2 things at once in general. Talking and drawing at the same time are NOT my strongpoint hahaha! So I love your idea of doing other things instead of only drawing live. I think that is really smart especially for starting out and getting warmed up to it. Thank you for all of this. I’ve already noticed that you’re getting more views just from uploading daily, which isn’t necessarily sustainable, long-term, cause I know it would be really hard for me to upload daily! but it helps to gain momentum…😉 I used to have white nights watercolors… I actually sold them once I started using other water colors. I realize just how hard it was to get good layers and vibrancy with them. Plus, I didn’t like how shiny they would get after. I tried to lay the paint on thick attempting to get those deeper tones! Great for starting out and I’m glad that they are light fast, but I definitely needed an upgrade from them! Ahhh!!! I love this question!! Yes the Lumos method is exactly what I do! I actually didn't even know that was the name of it so I had to look it up haha! I will say though that for some reason when I make my initial circle I ALWAYS end up going way smaller than I mean to haha! Oh and it is literally only the power of editing that makes the hands look easy. Hands are the hardest thing for me to draw so I did it over and over and over again before getting them to the point you see in this video hahaha! I have been really wanting to do a few tutorial videos; how I create my sketch, how I go about the coloring process, and how I film and edit my videos. Hopefully that will help plus show the reality of how many times I have to redraw and erase hahah! 🥰❄🎄
