To be fair, I turned in at over 95mph and closed my eyes 👀 LOL There’s a version of getting through T1 quickly and it is NOT turning in at 95mph and hoping for the best… that has proven to NOT work several times via crashed car

@@jonathanwheeler7301 😂😂 I had just noticed on my own data that I coasted thru there in 5th on a cooldown lap once and it was faster than I normally was at pace. Didn’t think shifting after could possibly work but shockingly I stumble across a video of someone doing it, was a great lap either way

After more than a year of maintenance-free track driving service, I lost a belt. It was at full send and apparently damaged some components on its way out. I beat on the car pretty hard so none of it owed me a thing, especially with the care-free service it provided last year.

That class is relegated to a 220 treadwear and the tire of choice is a Goodyear Supercar 3. They’re not great and only have a working window of about (3) minutes, but they last forever so that’s cool 🤷🏼‍♂️

That 'scraping' sound you hear is the supercharger bypass valve opening.

It’s probably a few more than that, but who’s counting? To be fair, she’s a hefty girl so I need every hersper she’s got just to keep ‘er moving ;-)

This is on the approx 500whp tune. Any higher and it blows the tires off. This class is limited to 220 treadwear tires, so no super 200’s (A052, 660’s, etc) As for the kill map, it’s over 20psi and north of 800, but that is useless on track without a racing slick like a Hoosier A7

I saw you went with Shane brown Lee I’m AWD auto, gonna get the top gun kit and wanna push 700 wheel and 600 torque but i know the stock block limit is 550 area. What should my budget be for the motor 10-15k? I see you beat the piss out of the car and pushing 20 plus psi is impressive!

@@AlanLuan18I do have a cat. We modified the titanium y-pipe by adding Ti V-bands and a modular system where I can run the cat, resonator, straight pipe, muffler, etc, all within the y-pipe.

I needed to cut the rear bumper and didn’t have it in my heart to cut up a V1. So, I sold it along with the V1 wing and grabbed a damaged rear bumper for a couple of bucks to cut.

@rx7sign I'm well aware. Z1 in Carrollton runs one and it RIPS. @jonathanwheeler7301 I've actually been thinking about getting a Z instead of an 86 for a while.

@@cyberneticxylem9614 I am very familiar with Z1’s TimeAttack build. On paper, it should be the fastest in the country considering it has every dollar imaginable thrown at it. But, lap times are the truth serum and alas, there are faster cars. There is something to be said about guys like you and I who are willing to put in the wrench time and not afraid to “risk it for the biscuit” As for Z versus 86… there isn’t a lot to be said that you don’t already know. The Z is a better car in every way and is light years ahead in a line item comparison. The only way you can make an 86 better than a Z is with an LS, but that is then putting you into boosted Z dollar territory and the convo then leads back to the Z being a better car at that investment level.

@jonathanwheeler7301 My dad always taught me that there's no point in getting something you can't maintain yourself or get it fixed as affordable as possible. Compared to other dream cars, a 370Z would be best for me since there's TONS of parts.

It was the overall class record, not just RWD. Each class is separate, just like in NASA, IMSA, WRL, WEC, and any other multi-class racing event. Yes, there is a fully gutted and caged LS-swapped 350Z running on a 60treadwear tire owned by Alex Gallardo. He’s pretty quick. This is in comparison to the 220treadwear my class is required to run.

Thanks Sam. I don’t have the thing too turned up, mostly because of the 220 treadwear tires we are relocated to. As for heating and cooling, I have zero issues. That being said, I do run a larger core radiator and a large Setrab oil cooler, but that is standard practice for any VQ on track

Yeah bro, live feed does not convey how wild it is to wheel a car across so many undulations at speed. The helmet cam shows even more… lots of counter steer going on… a lot!

Thanks bro. It has since gone two seconds faster on paper, and even another two seconds faster than that but lost the transmission at the end of the back straight.

Yeah. I wasn’t sure I was going to get another clean lap and was debating running a cool-down if Jake had lifted in front of me. When I saw he was staying at pace, I got back in it. There was a lot of time left on the table…

@Jonathan Wheeler that makes a lot of sense. The car rips regardless! Sucks that a traffic situation kept you from going even faster

Placement of coolers and ducting is key to keeping a Z cool on track, regardless of supercharger. As for time on track, that just depends on how hard I’m driving and on what tires. A street tire can not take 20 minutes of proper abuse and the tires normally give up before the temp gauge.

@@jonathanwheeler7301 I agree, ducting is super important, but still even with ducting I have troubles keeping my N/A cooled for 20 min. What tires are you using? Are street tires required to race in your league?

It is built into the catalyst. I recently covered them with sound dampening foam thinking that it would help and you see the results. I’m going to step up my efforts and find something else more powerful at muffling the air turbulence within the car

Yeah, that’s what happens at speed with the windows down :-\ We have since covered the microphones with some dense foam and had slightly better results. It still isn’t great, though.
