Education Dialogue | Episode 10 | EDUGIST ON AIR
On Episode 10 of Education Dialogue, we discussed "APEN: Redefining National Education Values" with members of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) of the Association of Private Educators in Nigeria (APEN). Our guests, Bolanle Adewole is the Chairman, APEN's CPC and Ola Opesan is a member of the CPC.
Education is the cornerstone of development in every nation and, on the front line of this development drive are the teachers. Across the diverse players in the development chain, no profession is saddled with task of changing, shaping minds, fostering critical thinking, and preparing the next generation to tackle the challenges of the 21st century like teachers. As Nigeria strives to improve educational outcomes, it's clear that empowering and equipping teachers with the right skills and resources is essential.

Wow! I did something similar during my service in Cross River State, where I trained students on innovation and creative thinking, teaching them how to solve problems using the knowledge gained in the classroom. After the training, I divided them into 10 groups and gave them the task of applying what they had learned to address issues in their environment. To my amazement, these students came up with incredible solutions, such as making shoe polish from yam peels and producing litmus paper for school laboratory from waste materials, among other creative ideas. Implementing strategies like this in Nigeria's education system could be a game changer!
