Using Different Papers on your gelplate
In this video I go over using different papers while printing with your gelplate. Some papers tend to be more fragile then others depending on how much paint you use. I show deli paper vs tissue paper and rice paper vs copier paper. I got a little long winded and I do tend to enjoy the experimenting process but I do think there is some good information in there and it may spark some creativity in you. I encourage you to use this as a jumping off point and try to use different papers while finding some new techniques along the way.

Card Board Book Part One
Переглядів 1,6 тис.8 місяців тому
In this video I share with you a tutorial on altering a child's cardboard story book into a book filled with your gel prints. Because of the thickness of the pages, the books become excellent surfaces for collage and doodling with paint pens and markers. There is no fear of a warped page or ink bleeding through to the back side of the page. Supplies needed: Child's cardboard story book, Modge P...

      Doing what we are gifted at is often like that-casting bread upon the waters and not having any idea where it floats to or who it feeds. Do not feel alone. Generosity, kindness, joy and delight are all VERY good bread to be casting. May it return to you a hundredfold. I enjoyed all of it. Can’t wait to try it so I’ll be ready for what’s next on the menu.

    Excellent video! You have the most gorgeous collages. My mouth dropped when you showed a glimpse of a finished product. Absolutely amazing! I love the gelly plate, but you have given me a new way to approach them when you talked about how you layer them in your art. I would really love to see this process in action. I am probably one of the biggest fans of your stencils. I love mid century modern and I’m so happy to see an artist create stencils that embrace that era. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to make this video. Now I’m going to go look for more of your finished pieces.🤗🤗🤗

      Thank you for your kind words. I have been meaning to add my more modern works to my website for months and keep putting it off. Not sure why, I think I have a hard time letting them go. If you subscribe to my newsletter on my website I will be sending out an email when that happens. Thanks again ❤

      There is no reason you should get rid of something you worked so hard on. In a way it is a part of you. It’s obvious the process you go through to bring your babies to life is not quick or easy. I have made a lot of gelly prints, but have never thought of layering in the manner in which you do. Thank you for sharing.

    I heard that Mod Podge has a strange smell. Is this true? Have you used Liquitex Matte Medium? If so, which do you find works better?

    • @FMDDESIGNS
      @FMDDESIGNS 6 місяців тому

      I have used both and you certainly can use a matte medium. If you do use a heavier gel medium. The craft paper is a heavy paper and needs a heavier glue. With all that said I don’t think modge podge has a funny smell 😂. I use modge podge a lot. But for something I am thinking I will resell I use more expensive products.
