Water being diverted upstream to support agriculture is the problem. Any where the rich can take over the resources to make themselves more money at the expense of others they will always do so until the day comes when the downtrodden rise up and use the rich to fertilize the compost piles.

When you say there is an increased demand from downstream users this doesn't really make sense. As SWP allocations this year are 40%, CVP is 50%.

Much like Medina Lake, water is being diverted "totally on its own" to the Edwards aquifer to accommodate the unsustainable population growth on top of the drought. It's all part of the sacrifice for the social and political goals of the elite.

It’s the local politicians and government officials allowing overdevelopment. Texas is in better shape this year than it has been in probably 5-7years with regard to rainfall, and yet the springs are dry, the lakes are low, and the houses keep going up. Stop developing! Stop the greed!

Yeah. I remember when the whole state of California was claiming that they were running out of water and was pressuring the rest of the US so change its water consumption because of their problems. Meanwhile, when the water was down, they did nothing to fix the infrastructure for the water. They didnt look for solutions. It was "restrict, restrict, restrict" and "fine, fine, fine" and then suddenly there was flooding. Morons. Let the water drop. Is this the first time it has been this low? Is it even natural? So tired of these places crying about problems that they created for themselves. Just like with Lake Mead. Here is what the National Park System says about water levels. If you remember, just a couple years ago, people were freaked out by the water levels at Hoover Dam. Stupidly. Here is the numbers..... February 1935 Lake begins to fill to 708.70 feet July 1941 Lake Mead reaches 1220.40 feet March 1956 Lake Mead drops to 1083.57 feet July 1983 Lake Mead reaches 1225.44 feet (highest point) June 2015 Lake Mead reaches 1074.71 feet August 2022 Lake Mead reaches 1044 feet July 2024 Lake Mead projected to reach 1013 feet Still the lowest it has been since likely the start of WW2....but its not a natural thing anyhow. Its like expecting your car to run forever. Not sure if people are aware, but if you look it up, there is still concrete at Hoover Dam that is curing from its original construction....it was estimated to take 100 years to fully cure. And we are worried about strange water levels with some of these places?

The lakes are controlled by core of engineering. Water is being sold. What county is Canyon Lake in?? Edwards Aquifer County!!! Largest aquifer in Texas.

Exactly right. Texas has always been prone to drought, and now you toss in the overpopulation of the third world, and the resources like water just can't accommodate it. The politicians don't care, and some like the mayor of San Antonio thinks that we won't survive unless we have more population growth.
