Christmas Eve 2020...some friends, myself, and some of my siblings decided to “flash mob” sing in the mall (that video can be found on my Facebook) after we were done...a media manager from the mall came and asked us to sing in front of the Santa. We were apprehensive at first, but realized it would be a great opportunity to spread the Gospel!

I've loved The McKameys since hearing/seeing them perform at my church when I was about 12 in the early 80s. My Daddy loved them too, especially Peg. I miss my Daddy and I miss real southern gospel like this. My church has made almost a complete switch to more contemporary gospel music now. It started changing when our pastor retired and a much younger preacher took over. I would love to see music like this again. I don't even feel at home in the church I grew up in from a child anymore. It always feels like something is missing. Can't wait to see The McKameys in January in Knoxville, its gonna feel like old times!
One of the greatest downfalls of churches in our day is getting rid of old fashioned music and preaching and replacing it with this contemporary mess we have on our hands.
@@rileyjones2167 I agree. Its almost like church service has turned into a "light" version. Preaching is not like it was a decade ago and back. Its reading a couple of verses and then commentary, not preaching and teaching. And you can set your watch by it...you're out the door at 12:10. When my preacher was still there, we was sometimes there til 2. If the music was moving and the spirit was working and he had to undo his tie, lol, we was all happy to stay as long as we could. He wasn't afraid to preach a fiery sermon and if you were offended by being told hell is real, that was too bad. Kids paid attention, no phones to pull out and sneak onto. The whole congregation could sing all the hymns together, now they have these teen singers with a new song every week that you don't usually know and they play guitars and drums so loud you couldn't learn the words if you wanted. There's no piano...just drums and guitar. Now, I'm not old, or at least I'm not the old that has a problem with loud music and has a problem with a little change, I'm 47. But its just not feeding me what I need, but what do you do? Almost all churches are the same now. Whitewashed sermon so as not to offend, people wearing whatever they roll outta bed in it seems. I guess I'm more old fashioned than most people my age but I wear a dress to church on Sunday..its not too much to look presentable. I may be running so late Wed that I'm still in scrubs from work, but it's just disrespectful to dress any old way. I'm sorry to rant on you! You must have just said what I've been stewing over lately and I found a kindred spirit lol. I'm thinking of trying to find a new church, after almost 40 years at mine. Praying about it. Know any old time, bible preaching/teaching churches in East TN ? I'm in Roane County...I see you're in TN. What part?
Kim Morgan I live in Newport, my church is what most would consider extremely old fashioned, most of my videos are from my church, as far as Roane Co. goes. Calvary Baptist Church in Kingston would a good, old fashioned church.
