This is Naji Hakim's organ duet 'Rhapsody' played as a voluntary in the 2009 carol service at Selwyn College, Cambridge University. The organ is Op 95 by Orgues Letourneau Ltee
Great stuff! (but whatever you do to it, for some of us it will always be 'Postman Pat"...)
Vraiment intéressant. Bravo
I like the original Durand edition from the early 1960s. This is more tangible, but Durufle' was very faithful to his reconstitution of the 1930 Polydor recordings.
Fantastic, thank you
Esoteric.
Terrible! This should be accompanied by an organ and bass viol.
I'd take it as a compliment if these were your only criticism. Under the circumstances, we did not have access to a suitable organ and a bass viol, or even a baroque cello. A theorbo would have been a nice addition too.
4 dislikes? Are you kiddin' me? This is beautiful!
Beautiful, thank you very much.
Wunderschöne Sopranstimme mit Zukunft :)
Yo why did so many people dislike this wtf
actually it's the nicest version of any Danse macabre i could find on Spotify. Can I find a better quality version of it than on youtube?
I'm afraid it's just an amateur recording, so this is as good as it gets.
Did You play it ?
Yes, I played "secondo".
Nice! What does it mean 'segundo'?
The lower part of a duet. The upper part is called "primo".
Beautiful. It's not equal temperament on this organ.. I'm curious what tuning is it? (And having read www.amazon.fr/Musique-Temp%C3%A9rament-Pierre-Yves-Asselin/dp/2905335009 and listen to the cd in it, I wonder how many organs nowdays are still in non-equal temperament...?)
I don't know if the temperament was set to exact ET (that was before my time, and subsequent tunings don't reset the temperament), but I'm pretty sure it was intended to be ET.
Interesting. Sometime the tuning can feel slightly different depending on the slightly inharmonic timbers of the notes of the instrument, But here in the case of windpipes, I don't think they can be anything else than perfectly harmonic in principle. So yeah it must be an unperfect ET here... ...Which sounds much better to me for this music ! ;-)
Que poco "macabra"!
Where can I get the score?
Is this 2 person arrangement available to buy? Or if not published is it otherwise available?
Unfortunately we've lost the score. It's our own edition so you won't find it anywhere. I believe it was adapted from a piano four-hand arrangement.
