    Cool videos. Love seeing the terrain in western Canada. Not much different than the east really. How would you compare the KTM’s to your old YZX? Looking at a new bike.

    • @squirtsomedirt3161
      @squirtsomedirt3161 3 роки тому

      My honest opinion. If you want a die hard race bike or a weekend warrior bike with little maintenance and to take from the MX track to the woods get a yzx. If you spend 90% of the time on 2nd and 3rd gear singletrack and endurocross then ktm for sure. The ktm is overall a nicer bike, but the yzx had overall better suspension. If you buy a yzx and try out your buddies new ktm you will immediately regret getting the yzx, however if you never ever throw your leg over a ktm you will be perfectly happy with yz250x,

      @@squirtsomedirt3161 Thanks very much. No KTM dealer close to me so may never get the chance to try one unless I bought. I will spend most of my time on 2/3rd gear trails. That said, for the price and given no close dealer, I'm thinking maybe the YZX with a heavier flywheel and maybe a tooth up on the rear sprocket?

    • @squirtsomedirt3161

      @@GNR325 I never messed with gearing so I cant say, but the yzx likes to go FAST. the faster you push it the better it works. It doesnt ride nicely slow. So you have to be fairly aggressive with it and just pound obstacles. Its not a finesse and dainty bike like some ktms. It wants to be used and abused and the suspension works better than way.

      @@squirtsomedirt3161 I had a blast this summer on mine. Not sure if it's just a smallbore thing or not but I found it hard to get the bike warm enough at the start lines, and also in slow singletrack it loads up or cools down too much. Pretty much have to hold it wide open every 30 seconds waiting for race start. I replaced the jet block gasket, installed v-force reeds, turbine core silencer, filed the slide notch with a chainsaw file, went to the top needle clip, 35 pilot jet, 490 main jet. It's run pretty consistent since then between 1000-5000 feet around AB. I don't even have to adjust the pilot screw between home and the mountains, if I turn it out 1/8 turn from where it is it won't even start. Probably need to go down to 32 pilot. Anyway I got sick of messing with cameras didn't even mount one on my helmet this year. Gotta love watching the vids though, especially in jan, feb, march lol. Cheers.

      +E.DUNN I was really hoping it would have came with the wr 6 speed, but I guess Yamaha designed the x the same way racers were converting the yz250 mx bike for gncc racing. I'm torn between the 250fx and the 250x. I'm coming off a TTR 230 that I've ridden now for 2 seasons on intermediate to advanced single track and have taken it to it's limitations. I do like how it tractors through the tight stuff and want my next bike to be able to do the same, but with more grunt you get from a full size bike. I'm wondering how the x would preform with a 13oz flywheel weight.

      +E.DUNN My dealer said the same thing, but the YZ250 owners I know said fouling plugs is a jetting issue not a premix issue. Stick to 32:1 and adjust the pilot to 1.5 out (to start) then turn in and out until you get maximum idle. Try it do it when it's warm-is out... maybe 15C. Then set your idle to as low as it will go without the bike stalling. Keep in mind it does fast idle and slow idle. You want it to not stall on slow idle.
