You have series 1. Thats a problem when hunting. If the bolt gets hit up little bit it wont fire. They fixed that w the series 2. The saftey locks the bolt like it should

3 year old video but.. model should be VSR223RR20 I bought a series 2 myself right when they came out but this was a vanguard varmint edition of some sort with the heavy barrel post series 1 but definitely before the s2 came out. I remember looking at them, I can only assume that's why you have a series 1 safety with what looks like a series 2 trigger or at least the very beginning of what trigger was introduced for the series 2. Not suprised it wouldn't work the same without that third position on the safety. I bet if a series 1 trigger fit on there it would function just as a series 1 safety does. Hope this brings you some closure lol awesome rifles though I love mine!

I have a howa 1500 with three stage safety. I could not make is softer trigger with screw. I took the spring out and cut 1-1\2 coils off. Perfect trigger.

I have 2 Howa 1500s, 1 has the HACT trigger/3 position safety, the older has the same trigger and 3 position safety as yours. I bought 2 older triggers in hopes of replacing the HACT. Both of those are single stage & 2 position safeties, but neither will fit my rifles, the raised cross part on them didn't line up in the groove on the rifles. Great info here, like you mentioned, all I find is info for HACT triggers, which I did follow for an improvement. I still haven't adjusted the single stage yet. Thanks!

4 years to late but I’m a big fan of both the 270 and the 30-06, the 270 being the bastard son of the 30-06 and a bloody good deer rifle. Never went much on t 308 and never liked its bastard son the 243. I recently learnt that the 308 is ballistically similar to the 30-06 with a shorter barrel.

I have the model 24 early version of this riffle with soldered barrels and side release 22 over 20 gauge looked for ages to find a nicely kept one , 20 gauge slugs for deer and number 4 for rabbits .22 for longer shots it’s the only gun I own that I can shoot deer rabbits with . I use it for scouting mostly cause it folds down into a small back pack ... the later model 42 is a pound lighter but has less options for calibre . Nice piece 👌

2 stage triggers can make you talk to yourself...nice for target but getting used to for hunting..

I’m not understanding what the backing out of the screw and tightening the nut is supposed to do? Seems like when it’s where you want it, they look loose enough to rattle out with bigger calibers. Do you back there sear screw out first to where you want it then tighten the nut around it to keep it in place?

As long as construction (bullet and target) is relatively the same, penetrating steel is all about speed.

This is my opinion I think it is definitely a very nice looking gun what takes away from this is the rifle butt spacers that don't look nice or do they add to the aesthetics of the gun .But that's just me .You are definitely right it should have the ability to be able to put a bipod on it with the sling attachment I am a CZ fan but as a Aussie i would definitely consider getting one of these
