    It'd been better if during the opera scene the audience reCted and stampeded out to safety and he gad to fight the bad guys and try to keep the fleeing people safe or atleast out of his way. There could have been a lot of different things they could have done that would have fit more, because what audience would just sit there while hearing gun fire(especially with the history of active shooters in those settings in real life)

    No twist. Night TOLD us in interviews this is a different kind of film unlike anything he’s done before. Those aren’t plot conveniences, they are hyperbolic improbabilities! Every obstacle put in his path he slides over effortlessly. That’s absurd! Cooper is so clever, so creative, we are rooting for him. How over the top is that, rooting for a guy who slices and dices people up?! I also think Night did a great tongue in cheek nod to Hitchcock. But doing more of a spoof of the serial killer thriller genre. Night and Hartnett say they had so much fun making it with some scenes just hilarious to them. Night also said he likes his audience to THINK as they watch, he will never underestimate them. Hubs and I saw it twice we liked it so much! Once we caught on to the preposterous concept, we sat back and enjoyed the fun. Hartnett just killed that role! Punny that 😄 Playing serial psychopath and doting daddy both straight serious and deadpan comic is a tightrope he walked beautifully. (You’re too young to know that when studios created a heartthrob persona for him or superhero type when he was 19-23 he walked away, out of the spotlight and into making small independent films many of which are terrific. Watch Lucky Number Slevin and Bunraku. Directors realized his versatility then. At the height of his fame he had paparazzi on his lawn, fan girls chasing him down the street, his face on every movie magazine. He surfaced again 2014-2016 to do Penny Dreadful. You didn’t see that?!) Anyway, back to the movie, the scene where Cooper and Rachel give us the reveal is just such great acting. Intimate, kind of poignant, and then Here, let’s have a piece of pie before you kill me. He lays the cleaver down, takes off his shirt and digs into the pie.😂 I agree something better is needed to transition from arena to house. Saleka is a very good singer but she can not act. Tsk tsk Daddy. She broke down the tone of the movie and it only picked up when she left. Can I say something guys? You needed to edit this. The silly back and forth in-joke parts are reallllly annoying. Are you going to review a movie or play verbal patty-cake? And the guy in the black shirt, sorry, is pretty inarticulate in expressing himself. I like the part where you talk about the technicals of filming. I hadn’t appreciated the camera angles before. We get to stream it later and I’ll be checking out that virtuosity. I’m soooo glad to watch a review where the reviewers “got it.” So many of the others failed to see the parody, the sense of humor woven into an in depth character study.I love both Hartnett and M Knight and hope they do something again down the line.

    Hey guys, wishing you all the best in your future with this podcast, but I'm two minutes and a half into watching my first video with you, and I'm already clicking out. An audience doesn't want to hear you explain what your podcast is. By virtue of clicking on the video, we're ready to hear a review. Cutting straight to talking about a twist and someone's OCD without recapping the film is also crazy.

    • @mgariepy42

      I wrote that, too. I think they needed to edit out all that silly giggling laughing, bantering off-topic stuff. I too found it verrrry annoying. I just kept with it though because white shirt seemed to know the sense of humor in the film where others don’t and made some astute observations. I’d liked to have had him do a straight review without a partner. Then he could go out with black shirt, have a beer, and play what I call verbal pattycake together.

    The redhead young Cuckoo woman that Gretchen encounters later in the movie is the young "Hatchling" that we saw in the opening scene of the movie (the one who ran away). She was one of many daughters of the Hooded Cuckoo Woman.

    Anybody calling this a “filler season” needs to go watch the MCU or Transformers franchise. This entire world is built upon rich lore. Just because there weren’t grand CGI battles doesn’t mean it was “filler.” It dropped lore and context for next season. Grow up.

    I also remember Emma Stone saying multiple times that she doesn’t eat fish! I think the overall theme might be the thin line between love and power. In all three stories, someone claims to feel true love, but actually wants to rule over the other character, in work, in relationships and in religion. In the third story, the husband for instance r*pes his wife as an attempt to take his power back. Great review, I love your eye for detail

    • @alopeztywonek2401
      @alopeztywonek2401 21 день тому

      I think is not the politization itself, but the fact that they are going all out against only one side. I love political satire, even when the satire is towards my political opinion; most of the best political jokes I have heard are against my political views. I think with humor, you can easily see many things about ones own view like contradictions, etc. However, jokes got to be well builded, not just thowing hate for the sake of it, you know what I mean? Also, it is always best to criticize both sides (not necessary tho) because every side has its flows. As I said, it is not necesary, but the thing with the boys is that they use to make fun of every one, and now they dont. In addition, jokes used to be on point, now it feels more like just throwing hate without a good build for the joke. I still like the season, dont get me wrong, I am just playing the devils advocate here

    When Qimir said that her lesson was to learn how to kill the Jedi without a weapon, I thought the show was going to be about her using the Jedi's philosophy against them, showing them their 'hypocrisy' ; killing their 'dream'. But no, it was literally about not using a physical weapon, as if the Force wasn't a weapon.

    • @SomewhereBetweenpod
      @SomewhereBetweenpod Місяць тому

      I liked the set up of the IDEA you just explained, but the mirror of hypocrisy and taking their ideals to show their relationship in the force is right there but then took its own theme literally? That’s the exact same problem that lies in the show, the weird literalism it has.
