great pre-amp but cable management was defiantly not a priority with this pre-amp. Very clunky design for anyone who likes "neat" and "hidden" cables; there's a reason the VAST majority of pre and pre-mains have their ports in the back and not on top, especially sticking out of the middle of the top. Sony saw this error and never made this design ever again. In this video you only see a small number of cables in it, it looks MUCH worse when you have a whole set of inputs and outputs including tape I/O and everything, it really is a mess with this pre-amp.

I have owned all the Trio/Kenwood L-0 series mono power amplifiers, bar the L-06 and L-08M models, and I can tell you without hesitation that the rare L-09M's definately have the edge in tonal quality. The L-05M's are a delight, but the 9's are incredible. 400 watts RMS was measured, undistorted with an 8-ohm load by my pal who is one of the country's leading audio engineers. They also run fairly cool. Made from 1977 until 1979 by the team who went on to become Accuphase.
