It's a horrible training the receivers should learn to stand on side for the cross ball and not stand offside - this is why they can't generate power or conviction in their shots - female players need to stand deeper so they could generate more power to make up for lack of strength and agility !!! Their first touch and striking skill is very -girlish- amateurish (no power, no direction, no accuracy and no conviction) - their coach should be fired immediately. They all got bad balance running with really stiff arms (nonathletic) probably due to incorrect footwear ... that coach needs to be fired he stands there like an idiot and not correct them make them run like athletes !!! Furthermore the goalie stood too close to the net making herself too small - she needs to rush out a bit to make herself appear bigger in order to close all gaps - she needs to learn to be a shepherd and not a sheep waiting to be eaten by wolves - she needs to trick them into thinking she she is doing something in order to control the strikers to do what she wants. They all need to learn to receive the ball and pass it in one smooth motion without having to settle the ball first - this way it will make them deadly fast accurate strikers !! To be frank i am embarrassed their coach can't even see this !!! I must admit women soccer players are tougher than the girlie snowflake men that play soccer - men soccer players always take a dive and act making crying faces clutching their legs on the ground. I cant stand men soccer players they are snowflakes.

Heartbreaker for the Thorns. They played their hearts out. Still, they won the league, have the best roster, the best venue, and the best coach. It's going to be a long five month wait to see this world-class club back in action.

I kinda doubt anyone of importance will care to read this, but here goes anyways... The first NWSL match i watched, Emily Sonnet took a head butt to the face, left the pitch for medical attention [during which time the Thorns replaced a different player] and returned with some tampons stuffed up her nose ready for action. Not five minutes later she headed the ball as if it were nothing. As a wingback and USMC vet, i fell in love... I'm very happy she is a rookie as i could watch her play forever... ty E.S. :* These ladies deserve better. I just started watching late in the season, and i love the matches and the quality of the players but the productions are like watching some introductory junior college A\V project. I think i saw maybe two or three matches that didn't have major production mistakes, once they had no announcer to begin the match and another time they even had the wrong team in the score box! How many matches had announcers who didn't know the players names? While I appreciate the league for posting so much on UA-cam, and assume that the funding for said productions is minuscule by top tiered professional sports standards, such a gap could be partially bridged by attention to detail, for the quality of productions are not consistent with the players on the field, and as such, disservice the players. They deserve better. Having said that, the Thorns have been my favorite team to watch, in any sport. Thank you, i really needed it. Bravo ladies, Bravissima Sonnet.

Loved it - great interview! I think that having a lot of the NT players being gone and injuries it didn't allow them to really build that chemistry as a team to used to each other's playing style. And yes, I agree w/ Tobin, giving them the freedom to attack vs being tight will give the result that they want. ♡

Claim some private space and time for yourself Toby. We know that is easier said than done. You need to find a way though. I could see this coming. 1) Coming down from the incredible emotional high engendered by the World Cup victory. 2) Having to resume play and focus for the Thorns. 3) gearing up for the 10-game Victory Tour 4) Gearing up for the Olympic qualifying rounds 5) Learning how easily recognizable you now are in public 6) Never ending questions that are essentially the same damned questions over and over 7) trying to be accessible to family and friends throughout all these other competing distractions. Now you are getting a strong taste of what it was like to be a Beatle on tour with hardly any time to yourself and an insatiable public hounding you. God bless you, Toby. You can handle it. And thanks for giving so much of yourself to all of us.

Tobin is more than entitled to a down day here and there for sure! She is emotionally and physically spent, but look how she nonetheless makes herself available to answer the same old damned questions she has been answering almost non stop for two weeks now. Even at low ebb, she remains a quintessential beauty. This lovely lioness will be roaring back as soon as she reenergizes.

I love how that little smile creeps onto her face after several of the questions. You can tell when a player's in a really good place, mentally.

Vero was superb in that game. 2 goals, 2 assists, and displayed some of the absolute best skill on the ball in WoSo.

I think it interesting that no one brought up Riley's very questionable lineup changes. Sinclair coming in at half, Morgan take out with 20 minutes to go, Tobin taken out a few minutes later. And bingo, you have the lineup that all season has Portland in the trouble they're in. This loss was a coaching error.
