I lived and grew up in Norris Green for up to 40 years of my life before I left to move to Anfield.Because Norris Green was really starting to go right down. Now I have since relocate down to Cornwall ' it's a far cry from where I was living.

Flat hats and reefer jackets whilst working aloft. How things have changed - not necessarily for the better. Now you can buy a flat in Bravery Court, aka S5 Banks Rd, for 100K though the drill tower has gone🙄

I grew up in Norris green in sixties seventies it was a very nice area to grow up in, it was Liverpool city council that deliberately let the area get run down they made promises to residents that they would never keep. They intimidated people in to selling their house’s below market prices in the hope they could move back later on. This was a deliberate act to destroy a community. They also told people that there property’s were defective they had been there for seventy years and would still be there now. Incompetence and more at the highest level. And are councillors are still at it even to this day. 🇬🇧

I was born on this estate and find it terribly sad to look at now. My grandparents moved there in the 1930’s when it was actually beautiful. But over the decades it has deteriorated to the state we see now. I left Liverpool in 2001 and now reside in Northumberland out in the countryside. When I do go back it brings tears to my eyes to see the demise of this once lovely estate to what it is now. Smackheads aside there are some very very decent people living on this estate and through no fault of their own cannot find a route off it permanently.

did you know anyone who was familiar with the Jon Venables or Robert Thompson families? the killers of James Bulger? they lived in the area.

@@lgamyron4577 personally no. But I do believe that when one of their Mothers was being taken to the police station, she sat in the back of the car applying makeup! The families had to be moved away for their own protection. There are still many of us still keeping a look out for these two monsters. An ex boyfriend I was seeing just after this terrible crime was committed was in the Serious Crime Squad and he worked on the case, he told me at the time of some of the awful things these two monsters did to little James, it has since come out in Ralph’s book.

I used to drive the 215/216 bus through there, near enough every night for 12 years, some lovely older people but too much young scum, they would set fires and then brick the fire brigade, least it stopped them bricking the bus for an hour or so, lost count how many bus windows were broken, once had a scaffold bar go right through the bus, missed everyone , in one side, out the other. Merseyside police ?, standard response was not to turn up ,

Don't know if anyone here lived in wandsworth road in the 90's but i lived in 58 wat the age of 4 and loved my house on the corner. I had ducks, chickens and rabbits etc and a rainbow painted tin fence.... miss that house so much. Trying to find videos of wandsworth road hoping for a glimpse of that house before it was rebuilt to these newer ones.

I joined in 1976 and they had just been taken off the run, I remember they were still on the stations. A few brigades kept using them for a while, I think North Yorkshire continued to use them in York given the nature of some of the medieaval streets

Agree with you mate but, it's an insult to call these "people" working class and that's because they don't work. They are feral creatures and it would be more appropriate to call them the underclass. My fathers family were working class people from Liverpool and they were/are good and honest people with old fashioned values and integrity who worked hard all their lives as soldiers, stone masons and dock workers. None ever committed crimes and they set me an example that I still follow today.

Congratulations on doing well, a sincere well done. But please strip that horrendous attitude you have, you did well and thats fine, but living in these circumstances has different effects on different people. Some kids look around at the shithole they live and don't know any better than to become accustomed and almost institutionalized. Kids don't choose to be brought up in drug filled rough areas but they have to deal with it in there own way, jobs and opportunities don't just fall out the sky

I want a holiday home here! - wot a fukin shithole and makes Beirut look like Beverly Hills. I did not realise there were places like this in the uk as i grew up on an estate myself - just don't get it why council tenants of today don't give a fuck about their surroundings and just want to destroy everything. LCC needs to get their finger out their arse due to severe housing shortage in country and get it sorted.

Lemme tell you, I know as many working class as I do middle class walking dead, and Theres not a thing in this world you could do that could get me to go back to the shitty estates. Theres no shame at all in being born in the gutter, but its a damned shame to wanna stay there.

The area looks like it does here because the houses were due to be renovated due to a construction fault or something. Not because their owners made them like that. Fools! And then the plan fell through due to lack of funding and the houses fell into the hands of yes, the few bad people on or near the estate. There's bad people everywhere though. Even in your security gate-clad little surburban streets. Wake up and smell the 50 year old bourbon! :P
