For the "Counterpart" theory thing(Whereas they were either old Ereptors or Delivered from another lab), I may have a theory, there's a mode whereas we play as the Counterpart, now in the first objective we are made to get our Workers to a tube(including some), now that means they're being transported to the main Ereptor(the enemy of the Counterparts), the Counterpart was possibly made AFTER the first Mini-challenge for the first Formicarium Challenge(Which was quite 'small'), so they were most likely newer and younger, however when they confront the Ereptors, they both are kinda equal in strength, which indicates that both Colonies were either born at the same time, or the Ereptors were born slightly earlier, either way its a possibility that the 2 Scientists have planned 2 Ereptor Colonies to fight in equal terms when it came to battle, but the other colony facing a more difficult challenge than its Rival And also for the "Royale Jelly", when we unlock the Matabele ants, Scientist's 1 part of the end dialogue says "Into one of the ereptor colonies?" which could mean there's possibly more living ereptors being tormented. And for the "More Ereptors" there have been extra levels with the desc saying you have access to some ants being also an Ereptor colony, so its possible that there are MORE Formica Ereptors that exist, either escaped or got killed off. Either way most of them could've possibly been failures

Regarding Scientist 2 and ‘the project’, I believe that the end goal was to use animal testing to make a royal jelly concoction that was suitable for human consumption. The ants were simply meant to be a tech demo, to show that the jelly could provide rapid adaptation. After the success of FC3, the plan was to have Scientist 1 and some other scientists start testing on rats. More evidence for this is if you fail during either the twins or dragantula in FC4, Scientist 1 sees the hybrids and says ‘you don’t have clearance for hybrids’, implying that there already has, or planned to be hybrid experiments in the project. Scientist 2 on the other hand seemed to have wanted to gain the power of the royal jelly for himself, and he believed he could mix out colony’s brood into a viable concoction for human consumption. As such, Scientist 2 decides to keep pushing them. Using hybrids and high power machinery to force the changes. It’s also very clear Scientist 2 meant to dispose of the colony once he drank the concoction, since he didn’t want anyone else to be able to replicate his success with the ereptors, but he got assimilated into the hive mind of the colony instead, and only then he began helping, as an extension of the colony. Should there be a sequel or DLC, I’d imagine our colony could be taken to Island 221, and either Scientist 1 or another Scientist would be a major antagonist, wanting to exterminate our colony and collect samples for research.
