Built ca: 1914 for Mina F Calderwood. Mina's husband operated Calderwood Bakery in Portland. Other than his own home in Deering, the cottage is the only documented design by Charles O Poor before his tragic death in 1922.

Fort Scammel was originally built in 1808. The stone bastions were built during the American Civil War. The bastions were to house 10 guns but they were never installed. Darren McLellan thank you for documenting my family’s past. We have many of their possessions from this time such as his sword from the civil war and a painting of himself. My grandpa and great grandpa were both Samuel Mayall too. But great great great I don’t believe was. My uncle was Samuel Mayall but passed away too young so my parents chose to name me Samuel but with a true desire to call me Alex.
