I own a 301.8 and the CAT dealer told me this is pretty much the only issue all have and that it is not something you can fix. They tried everything. more tension, other belts. It is only during the startup and probably has to do with the power required to operate the pump from a standstill. Mine does this as well occasionally when the air is quite moist.
Man after my own heart, I’m in the exact same boat as yourself, and we also run a repair business, got to point where I’m going to throw the towel in, 10/10 fella
