    This isn't how the brain works though. The photographs are only useful in so far as you remember that they have content in them. How would you know what photos to look at and acknowledge as useful if you didn't already know that the content in those particular photographs were useful for you in aiding the remembrance of some particular event. Really we use this kind of documentation to remember the fine details of events. Brains are great at remembering the overarching narrative but it's bad at remembering much else.

    Because you shouldnt just do a set to reach x amount of reps, you need to reach failure or close to it within those reps. Counting down will limit your reps to the number you started on. Going up unlimitly is good to see progress, cpunting down will make you decide when to add reps to the sets instead of just training and seeing how many you get

  • @mccvargues7792

    You are not counting reps to know how much you need to do, you do it to know how many you have done so you can track your progress and know when to up the weight. It is pushing yourself to see how far you can go. By counting down you wont push yourself

    This advice works for almost every thing. I work as a janitor for my first job and when i started I'd count up on the number of thing that i did as i finished them then I started counting down and my work hours felt shorter despite working the same hours and I'd feel less tired at the end

    DISCLAIMER: I am not a fitness guru nor do I try to say I am, this is the only fitness advice I’ve ever shared it’s cuz someone in good shape told it to me, it’s not designed for body builders… this is advice meant for the average person just trying to overcome doing like 20 push ups in specific.

    • @rapf3087
      @rapf3087 Місяць тому

      Sorry man you should be counting reps. This would work if you failed at the same rep as you predicted but there is no point in making it more confusing. Your going for a rep range not a specific rep count usually

    • @Okm3dia
      @Okm3dia Місяць тому

      @@rapf3087 the failed at the same rep is the key here i think this tip was meant for the average guy whos struggling to hit a certain number of push ups for example 10 or 20, obv this isnt for serious athletes or those trying to get huge. this is a mind hack for any task that you personally don't like doing and are trying to get a certain number of reps, could be a workout could be number of practice problems to do on a test

    • @alexlogo5270
      @alexlogo5270 Місяць тому

      It's not. A target rep range is good but constraining to a specific rep count is usually counterproductive. What if you overestimated what you could do, it's likely that you try to complete the reps no matter what and your form goes out the window

    • @Okm3dia
      @Okm3dia Місяць тому

      Ur right, but this is j something I heard not saying I’ve tested it or even know what’s good for you I’m not a body builder, just some interested advice I hadnt heard online and thought was interesting so I shared.

    • @Okm3dia
      @Okm3dia Місяць тому

      @@alexlogo5270tbh I think this is more for the average person that has trouble motivating themselves to do like 20 push-ups for example specifically, like if their goal is to do 20 then this way it’s easier to get to that number, the rest u can do however u want.

    • @alexlogo5270
      @alexlogo5270 Місяць тому

      @@Okm3dia I get where you are coming from and I agree with what you're saying. If anything I would say that the goal should be getting close to failure and the number of sets close to failure rather than reps. Reps are just the way of going close enough to failure anyway, they're not magic numbers that make that much of a difference unless you're like 2 or 3 years in training

    • @alexlogo5270
      @alexlogo5270 Місяць тому

      @@Okm3dia Sorry for the double reply 🙏. I think my point still stands. If you can't do 20 push ups(which are harder than it looks if you do them properly) counting down from 20 is just a way to excuse bad form to get those last reps. At that point you're better off resting for a couple of minutes and going hard on the next set rather than "giving your all" and maybe if you're unlucky enough hurt yourself in the shoulder joint or smth
