Beaver Pelts- Everything You Need to Know
Hi! Can this method be used to repair mink too? The hair is shorter on mink than the pelts you used?
I really enjoy your videos and am very interested in doing more than just trapping animals and selling my fur. So your videos are exactly what I needed to see. Thank You
Awesome! Thank you!
I wish I knew how to tell what kind of fur my Vintage Hudson Bay Company stole is... I have mink garments but this stole has softer fur... but I know it is not rabbit... I wonder if it could be beaver?
It's difficult to say without seeing it.
What tannery do you recommend and where can you have a beaver plucked and sheared. I have a Singer fur sewing machine and I want to make some garments for myself, family, and friends. Thanks in advance. Brad C
We used to recommend Tubari Ltd, but they have since closed their doors. Moyle mink or sleepy creek are a couple to look at. As far as the plucking and shearing, it is hard to come by right now as Tubari was the only tannery we knew/know of that plucks and shears beaver pelts.
Camera work is so far away we can't see anything But thanks for posting
We will try and take a new video in the future that is closer to the machine. Thank you for the feedback.
Excellent vid sir
Beaver is so nice . Love sheared beaver
This proves a trapper should take proper care in skinning, the better the job,the better the price.
Great info
Thanks for sharing buddy! I caught my first 2 otters this season and getting one mounted and the other one tanned! They are such cool animals! Good luck with everything my friend!
Thanks ❤️
Awesome information!
Great info and sharing my new friend!! Good luck with everything!!
Neat
Are any of the designer foxes for sale? Would really love to purchase them!
Yes! Please visit our website at www.glacierwear.com.
The thumbnail looks tike sour dough toast
Please dont ever stop sharing your knowledge! :)
Thank you so much for the demonstration. Very very helpful
I believe along with wolverine it is one of the few furs that won't freeze when used as parka trim ?
As far as I know, wolverine is the only fur that doesn't frost, but I will look into that!
I have a coal black one I was going to mount, I think it's from MN or MI. I'm in MD and the beavers in the north central and north east parts were graded same as NY ones back when I sold to a buyer there. They are pretty nice looking.
Awesome!
Really good information here, thanks for doing these. Learned a bunch already!!
Important information for people to think about, regional differences matter in all fur bearing species. A December beaver from Georgia is probably less primed than an October beaver from Montana
Good job
Enjoying the informative vids! Any chance of a Bonis Brothers fur machine tutorial? Owned one for years, no instruction, still pretty mediocre with it…
There may be a sewing tutorial in the future.
Artic foxes can mate with regular foxes? I wondered about that. I had a pet artic fox and he got out of his enclosure a few times and my son saw one of our local foxes that spring with a couple of white kits.
It is only done through Artificial Insemination.
Very nice video! You are absolutely right, these are disappearing FAST. I have contracts with individual farmers so they breed mutations for me only. I suspect SAGA furs will have only a handful of pelts coming in this year in the Silver mutation category. Hybrids are a bit better, but still we’re not seeing the numbers we used to. I bought all their designer foxes last September, people were looking at my broker like he was crazy 😂 Golden Island is from the Polar family, what you have there is a “red type” which is Gold x Polar most likely. They pop up in other litters as well, especially when you’re breeding your Half Polars, Alaska Polars etc. Blue Frost, Shadow Blue Frost and Arctic Marble Frost are all from the Bluefox family. They’re the only ones reaching size 50 out of all the hybrids. Your Palomino Frost is from Palomino x Arctic Pearl, and Apricot Frost is Palomino x Arctic Pearl Polar. These are all European mutations, the US type of Palomino is different (Burgundy vs Polish Pastel is used). Let me know if you found this info to be helpful 😅 Mutation foxes are a passion of mine. All hybrids are sterile, so none of those medium length furred foxes can breed.
Thanks for the added info. Sounds like youre in the same business as us.
@@glacierwear6961 I am, though very small. Can’t compare to your business 😁
Thank you for all the information It’s much appreciated😊
Thank you Randy for all the information ! I appreciate it very much😊
Another great informative video, our red fox here in Montana have no standard colors, each one of them vary so much, the prices we get definitely reflect that. Would be difficult to match for garments. Enjoy this channel.
Thanks Randy another great video keep them coming I think the fox are some of the most beautiful furs there are
Good video Randy, my wife has a full length ranch fox coat.

Yes there is. We have a brown box that says Manufacturing with your own Fur. Everything you need to know is in there.

Anyone know where I can send beaver tails in for tanning?
Sorry we do not know of anyone at this time.
we catch a bunch of south east beaver that are black with the lighter cheeks . ours are mostly hatter type beaver .
Randy you have a great channel I learn lots from this video it was very nice from northwestern MI.....
Glad to hear it!
Randy thanks for the video. I put on Trappers Report. Post as many things as you'd like there and put up your banner ad if you want as you post. Thanks.
Thanks for the idea!
Nice Job Randy.
Thanks Jim! I just found your channel after you commented. I subscribed and enjoyed your content.
Thanks for the video keep them coming
I only like XX heavy and Yukon, Alaska or Arctic wolves.
I like Northerns especially those reddish brown Kenai Peninsula beavers that are longhair. Plucking takes away durability and wind protection because guard hairs provide wind protection.
Excellent presentation.learned something new!!
This is excellent thank you!
