You can check exam fee on different actuarial websites like SOA or CAS. With that said, typically once you get hired in an actuarial job, your employer will pay for exam fee and study material.

I just want to do investment actuary work and use my knowledge of CFA+statistics ....Because less supply of actuaries I want to ask you one more important question.....does only the investment actuary work in the investment departments of insurance or pension funds and handle whole portfolio management? Or like banks, other investment funds, different types of people like investment research analyst, portfolio manager, risk management (market/credit), quants also work here Plz mam reply me it's important 🙏🙏

That depends on the school and the programs. If I look at candidates for hiring, I don’t focus on their gpa but rather their actuarial exam history and relevant work experiences / projects.

I am not familiar with Dutch actuarial path so I can’t really comment about it specifically. In general, the popular global actuarial organizations are SOA and CAS. Then each country may have their own organization which leverage education system from SOA or CAS (eg CIA in Canada or MAA in US) or have their own education system (eg FIA in UK). You will need to do your research on what recognition agreements there are between the one in Dutch and other organizations, eg CIA accept SOA, CAS as well as FIA. Hope that helps.

Good question. Actually Excel is still one of the common tools for math computations and data/stats analysis in the actuarial field. The math and problem-solving skills acquired through exams are still the bedrock of actuarial work. They enable actuaries to understand complex concepts, develop models, and make informed decisions. So, while the day-to-day might involve less math, the math knowledge underpins everything we do.

Our work is quite complicated and challenging so I would not have a concern. And my personal view is that it’s not AI who will take over your job but it’s people who know how to use AI will :) As a profession, we are already looking into AI/machine learning applications for our work.

It will take all our jobs eventually, but in the meantime, don't stress & make the money while you can.
