    Sorry to correct everyone but zaj no tsis yog zaj close/open door if you listen to what he sing zaj no yog zaj koj two Mej koob remove the table which is the table that blocking the door 0. Zaj no door 1. Zaj ask who they are 2. Zaj close/open door 3. Zaj cigarette/ wine from bride side 4.zaj remove table If you master it you should know what I'm talking about these are the step unless the other men koob is making up his own song to go against each other it happen often due to testing each other skills so zaj he sing is the zaj remove table but I believe most Mej koob don't sing every step Anymore most is just sing close/open door but I'm impressive that he sing this song too

    In response to the white lady saying, "we should all speak one language" amd I totally agree with that but where Im from, California, I went to school with kids speaking very little english.. teacher translating in spanish and it seems to be ok.. if its okay for teachers to translate to Mexican people.. why cant we just speak our laugage? No teachers translate to us.. we learning it oursleves

    @1:00-1:14 - so the younger guy disagree with the older guy that Hmong has never had a written language or used to have a written language? And now the younger come up with a different one claiming to be the original and start dividing Hmong again? Hmoob nis Hmoob...ib tug ua ib tug rhuav es hnub twg Hmoob thiaj yuav vammeej os.

    In the reality with traditional strictness on this kaws qhov rooj and qhiv qhov rooj. Mej koob from tog tub, if they sang the song not as heart and wanted, then they cannot enter in the house(as what folk tales are told to be said back in China or early Laos settlement). But modern days, they just need to finish their part to qhiv qhov rooj, and then it moves on from there...but it's loosing the practice due to the strictness of it.

  • @KosXyooj916
    @KosXyooj916 12 років тому

    This is actually one of the one's with the most twist in it from what I understand, this is zaj kaws qhov rooj. Which we don't call them mej koob just yet, just tub tog qhuas because we don't know if they are the actual mej koob yet or not. From what I learned, this is where most mej koob from tog tub will have to listen carefully. From there, they have to qhib qhov rooj from their part to match up with ob tus tub tog qhuas from tog ntxhais.

  • @mouaboi
    @mouaboi 12 років тому

    true, but this is the song the mej koob from the girl side sings(which is discourage to do as much as possible) so it wouldnt matter much about twisting it. but i do understand the meaning of all the songs sang so i'm positive i can manage. if you cant understand the meaning of atleast one song, then you are not cut out to be a mej koob that tawg paj txi txiv.

  • @KosXyooj916
    @KosXyooj916 12 років тому

    This is a great tradition that not much is still practicing. But to be a great Mej Koob, is to not learn by lyrics after lyrics. Many Mej Koob that learn through lyrics will run into a lot of problems and makes things difficult. If you really want to learn Mej Koob, don't learn by the lyrics, but by the philosophy of the song alone. There are times they will twist the song, and you must respond properly to pair up with the other Mej Koob. Not something that goes easy through lyrics...

    Dr. John is right, hmong afraid of their own language, they afraid other will laugh at them..that's why they dont try to learn..so dont try to say the language is broken..dont afraid to be yourself and try to be others..brothers and sisters.

    @vmp98765 It is Phaj Hauj Hmoob, invented by Shong Lue Yang, considered as Mother of Writing by the Hmoob who learn this. I'm amazed to see this here. haha. awesome. I learned this when I was in 3rd grade to 8th grade. too bad the school close, or else i would have been certified to teach like my 3 older sibling.
