I enjoy watching your videos. Great Work. Keep it up. ❤
i cannot WAIT for more dbd minifig painting videos!! especially if you get your hands on the Malicious Expansion
Bro, I regret not seeing This Video earlier.. 2 mil. Paint videos, but only one that does something Like this. Ty for showing
helped me a lot, tysm!! good video :)
Will u show us the Other Characters and meybe the killers too?
First killer video just went up. Started with the Trapper. The Hillbilly will be in 2 weeks and then the Doctor after that. I'm sure there'll be some more characters at some point! Who would you like to see?
@theplasticcanvas Well i would be happy to See all characters ^^
Great painting. I'm getting my first resin printer this week, and hope to start painting some things for the first time in 20 years since high school. Learned a lot just by watching this!
Nice!
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Well done!!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video :)
These are gorgeous, I can't believe this doesn't have more views. I've painted my own 3D printed miniatures, but for some reason painting a piece I've purchased feels so much more daunting. I'm still incredibly new to miniature painting but this just makes that process so much easier for me, now. Thanks a million, dude. First up, DBD core set - after that, I want to tackle the Resident Evil 1 board game! Do you think you'd have any interest in doing those? I'd love to see what you come up with!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked them. I just don't think the game is popular enough for it to get lots of views. I could paint Warhammer and get a lot more, but I'm not interested. If it helps, I made a series called 'Anyone (Yes Anyone) Can Paint Miniatures'. In that I go through each step. I made it a while ago so I'd no doubt have some stuff to add, but that'd hopefully get you off to a good start. One of the great things about painting minis is that if you stuff something up, just paint over it and no one will ever know!
I liked you work!! Where can I see a painted hrimwurm? There isn't a single image. I have a specimen and I don't know how to paint it properly. I would be grateful if you could help me!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video :) I have no idea what that is :D so you're on your own I'm sorry!
Thanks, I was just going to paint my lamplighters goal post for Guildball.
Thanks! I'm glad you found the video useful :)
really nice work, I'll definetely be using this as a reference once I get this expansion
Thanks! Glad you found the video useful :)
Great video, you explain so well and show everything, the steps the techniques. This helped me so much, I do get why there's no love here. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you found the video useful! I think I just don't paint games that are popular enough. Even though the minis in Gatefall are amazing, there's not heaps of people playing it. I'd get more views if I painted Warhammer, but I'm not interested.
pleeaaase paint some killers for us soon!!!
Yeah I'll definitely get onto them at some point. Only problem is that I've started painting Oathsworn and those minis are amazing!
The leather and armor turned out really well. Great job!
Thanks David!
Very interesting! I've never thought to use this method... I need to try this! Thanks for the video!
Hey Mick. Yeah I'd never thought to do it until I saw it a while back in another video. I've used the basic technique heaps of times now. Works really well on highly textured minis (like an animal with lots of fur) cos it saves you from having to individually highlight each hair or whatever the texture is. Just leave the shadows dark and the wash takes care of the rest!
Hey Mathew, I never noticed just how much you thin your paints. That brown undercoat went on like it was a water color and not an acrylic. Very useful information and fantastic looking results, as always. thanks and 👍.
Hey TP. That's a big part of why I love Reaper paints. They just come out of the bottle thinner than other brands. To be fair, that brown is just thinner than a lot of the others, so I don't 'normally' thin my paints that much. But anytime you're going to be blending a lot, thinner paints help.
This came out great. I love that you use mostly Reaper paints, cause I think they’re fantastic, but are just never talked about compared to other brands. Don’t own Oathsworn yet, but when I do, I’m stealing this template, if that’s okay ;)
Thanks! Glad you liked it :) Yeah I love Reaper paints. I like the consistency straight out of the bottle more than the others. And they just dry in a really predictable way that makes them easy to paint with. Reaper definitely needs more love! And you can absolutely copy how I've painted her. That's part of why I put these videos up!
Are you allowing each layer to fully dry before adding the next? For instance the primer, allowing the black to fully dry before adding the grey and so on.
Yeah every layer dries before the next one. Otherwise they'd just mix together and the effect wouldn't work.
@@theplasticcanvas So this is days of painting then, as primer can take up to 24hrs to fully dry... ?
Hey Matthew, fantastic job as always. At the moment I'm painting figures from Mythic Battles Ragnarok board game. I hope you can eventually get your hands on that game because the miniatures are incredibly detailed and they're Viking themed ! I'd love to see what you could do with them. 👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it :) I just had a look at those minis. They look awesome. Would be heaps of fun to paint. Can't buy every game unfortunately but I'll keep an eye out for it. Have you played it yet? Is it good?
To be honest i only backed the game on kickstarter for the minis included in it. I had contacted the games developers and inquired if it was possible to just purchase the games core minis alo g with the stretch goals minis without the game components themselves and was told that was not possible.@@theplasticcanvas
This is great man it's exactly what I've been looking for so thanks for making this video. Do you have any plans to paint either the remaining miniatures of the first Tainted Grail or the new King's of Ruin?
Thanks! Glad you liked the video. I won't be going back to Tainted Grail anytime soon because I've just started painting Oathsworn. But I did love painting it, so at some point I'm sure I'll go back and do some more!
I look forward to painting up my copy of this soon, and will use some, if not all, techniques/ideas you showed off here. Great work
I had fun painting them so hopefully you do too! I'd love to see how they end up looking. So if you're happy to, post them to Twitter or Instagram when you're done and tag me so I can check them out!
Wonderful, a great inspiration for me. I like the way you change the original, the blood, the grass and leaves, absolutely stunning. Thank you so much!!
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Ty I have been waiting for a series on painting the minis for a bit now I’m not very good at painting minis and want this set to look good ty for listing the paints too
Thanks for the comment. Glad you've found the videos useful! A little while back I also made a series called 'Anyone (Yes Anyone) Can Paint Miniatures'. You might find those useful. I've got them as a playlist, or you can just search them.
Good job - as usual! 👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Really nice! I like the idea with adding the blood drip. Are you going to present tutorials of other Trudvang miniatures? Regards from Poland 🇵🇱👍
Thanks! Yeah I think the dripping blood works well. Makes it look like they've just hacked someone apart and now you're next! Definitely doing more Trudvang minis. A video for the Forest Trolls comes out this Friday and I've just started working on Felerion (one of the characters).
@@theplasticcanvas Great to hear that! Can't wait! Regards 👍
That looks great! Would you do it any differently for other base hair colors, like a light brown?
Hey. Glad you liked the video. Yeah I'd do it exactly the same with other colours. So if you were doing brown, basecoat with a dark brown and then use a brown wash. Then go back to that same brown and highlight the full length of each hair. Then go to a lighter brown and highlight each hair again, but start a bit away from the base. Just keep doing that until you're painting just the tip of each hair with a really light brown.
@@theplasticcanvas thanks! That’s really helpful.
Hey great video!! What brushes are you using here?
Thanks! Glad you liked it. I use The Army Painter Wargamer series. Most of the basecoating is with the 'character' sized brush and then highlighting and more precise bits are done with the 'insane detail' brush.
Paint killers please
Which one would you like to see first?
@@theplasticcanvas I would like to see the trapper, doctor and hill billy, please
@@theplasticcanvas I like how you paint
When you prep for painting do these minis need to be washed? I know some minis still have release ajent on them.
I don't reckon I've washed a mini in about two years. I used to a bit when I first started painting, but I can only remember minis from one game ever going funny when priming so it's just not something that I ever think of or worry about anymore.
👍. Excellent tutorial Mathew. However, for the people out there like myself who hate mixing paints to get different shades could I just go with a few different shades of brown that go from dark to light to get the same effect? Thank you.
Thanks TP. Glad you liked it. Absolutely you can avoid mixing colours. I only mix when I don't have the colour that I need. So when I was painting the brown that's in between Ruddy Leader (which I accidentally labelled as Muddy Brown in the video) and Leather Brown, I needed to mix those two because I don't have the colour that's halfway between them. But if you can make the colours that you've got work, then go for it!
Man, this is exact what I need. thx
Glad you found the video useful!
Brutal
That's what I was going for...
Hey, i'm new to the channel. I'm very excited to see how you do with the rest of the core set. Especially the killers 😈 Great job bud! 👍
Hey Bobbler. Thanks for checking out my videos. Glad you liked them. I'll definitely do some killers at some point. Any in particular you'd like to see?
@@theplasticcanvas not in particular. I've only got the core set, but HOPEFULLY some expansions will be coming so it's all great for ideas you're giving us. Thanks a bunch! Keep up the good work 👍
Blight or doctor would be awesome to see!@@theplasticcanvas
Hey man, I really appreciate your videos. You do great work. I am preparing to paint my Scythe minis which will be my first ever attempt at mini painting. I do have a question though, why do you elect to dab each individual bolt on the ship rather than use a dry brushing technique like I've seen others use? Any reason in particular? Just personal preference?
Hey Jacob. Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoy the videos! I individually picked out each rivet because of how small they are. It's really hard to be that precise with drybrushing. If I drybrushed them, there would've been heaps of the metallic paint that ended up on the panels around them. So it was a little time consuming but I needed to do it that way so it didn't look messy.
I’m trying to find a tube like that as an American and I can’t find that same tube unless I buy it off someone from Australia for like 25 bucks before shipping- any similar alternatives?
Yeah it's strange that there doesn't seem to be one. I just did a search but most things that come up are either expanding foam, or the type of stuff that goes in a caulking gun. I mean that might be fine, but you don't really want to be getting out a caulking gun every time you want to base a mini! Try this link here. This is the closest looking thing that I've been able to find: www.walmart.com/ip/Xmarks-100ML-Wall-Repair-Paste-Mending-Agent-Waterproof-Kit-Crack-Nail-Agent-Professional-Gaps-Concrete-Repairing-Ointment-Gel/880399538
@@theplasticcanvas cheers!
Good job and thank you of show us your work ! how many time approximatly you spend for paint one mini ? :)
Thanks! Glad you liked the video. I don't really watch the clock while painting...but...at a guess, each one is probably somewhere between an hour and an hour and half.
Zarina framing the picture of Claudette hanging! :D I think your technique is pretty much perfect. The choices of colors though, i'm not so sure! It's definitly full of contrast.
Haha. I hadn't noticed Zarina doing that. Happy accident - not for Claudette though!
Does the paint around the base pose problem with the pool of blood thingy? I'm guessing it's going to be slightly tighter and might scratch the paint when you put it on.
Yeah I wondered if that would be a problem too but it hasn't. It's a pretty thin coat though. I definitely recommend a coat of varnish just in case!
Lookin great hope u do the killers next ^^
Thanks! Glad you liked the video. Any killers in particular that you'd like to see?
@@theplasticcanvas Well lets start with the Poster boy himself. Trapper

If I had any I'd happily do one!
Hello there! Is it possible to provide us color pallete you are using for all the minifig from gloomhaven? I am a beginner in the minifig painting and I really like your colour scheme so I would like to buy exact colora you are using. Thank you in advance and keep up with amazing work! ☺️
I've just discovered this video, but I gotta say this was a huge help with the dripping blood on my ghoul's weapons. Super simple and straight ot the point! :)
Hey. Thanks so much for the comment. Glad you found the video useful! It's a really good, simple effect isn't it? I originally got the idea when I saw someone melting a clear acrylic rod to create the strands, but I didn't the stuff to do that with. So this was a good alternative!
@theplasticcanvas this is a great method. I was going back and forth with the idea originally of doing glue strands, but always seemed a bit to 'gooey' for blood. This works brilliantly!
Hi. I really love your painting effects videos. Is there any chance that you can show us how to paint rotten/zombified/dead flesh. Thank you very much.
Hey. Glad you like them! I did a zombie video a couple of years ago that uses the minis from Zombicide 2nd Ed. Here's the link - ua-cam.com/video/AjrG2Qln4Xo/v-deo.html Hopefully that's helpful!
@@theplasticcanvas thanks. Will check this.
Hello, any chance for a Quatril miniature tutorial?
No sorry. I quickly painted him a while back off camera because my wife decided to swap to that character. So there wasn't time to do a video for it.
