content is replacing art or nah?
Art vs. Content: Can They Coexist?
Is content the new art, or are they fundamentally different? In this video, I explore the creative tug-of-war between timeless artistry and the fast-paced world of content creation. From the masterworks of Picasso and Da Vinci to the viral trends of TikTok, this is a deep dive into how art and content shape our culture and connect us to one another.
I talk about:
-How art and content are similar-and where they differ.
-The role of technology and social media in redefining creativity.
-Thought-provoking perspectives from artists, philosophers, and creators on what makes something "art."
There is so much I don't know about this subject. I want to learn more though, and I find it fascinating to explore. I am an artist myself, so I am holding on soooo tightly to an idea of what I thought my art had to be. Now that I am moving more into the content space as a medium to deliver a more artful message, it feels creative. Then my channel is becoming one big on going art project. Would that make the channel a piece of art that is made up of a bunch of content?
And then in that case, is a film a piece of artwork made up of a bunch of content?
It pains me to say that, btw.
What do you all think? Do you think content is considered art? Or are they two completely different entities? Get involved and share your thoughts in the comments below-I’d love to hear your takes!

The Hopeful Side of LA Fires: Communities Coming Together Los Angeles has always been a place of dreams-a city where anyone can become whoever they want to be. It’s a place I deeply love, a vibrant symbol of creativity, ambition, and possibility. Seeing parts of it go up in smoke during the recent wildfires was heartbreaking, but this video focuses on the hope and resilience that emerged in the...

Our desire to produce great work may actually be keeping us from achieving our goals. Embracing Imperfection: The Secret to Unlocking Creativity Our relentless desire to create "great work" might actually be the very thing holding us back. In this video, I explore why the pursuit of perfection often stifles creativity-and how embracing imperfection can lead to more authentic, innovative, and ev...

An unexpected plot twist in a video that was originally intended to be about financial gymnastics and building a creative life on a budget, Is swiftly interrupted by an intrusive ADD thought that sends the video spiraling into an entirely new direction. But just like the creative process itself, we stay open to discovery here on this channel, and we allow tangents. We aim to make sense. Sometim...

In this installation of whatever I'm doing, I begin the morning with a coffee catch up with my friendm and CD, then I give you a glimpse into my own strange and enjoyable process of auditioning. This was a pain to edit, but soo fun to document. It feels (to me) like a visual journal entry. When I started rolling, I couldn't have known that I would end up with an audition by the end of the day, ...

Have you ever doubted something you’ve created? I have. In fact, I doubted myself approximately 438 times while I was making this video before I lost count. I am diving into why your art is far more valuable than you may realize. Our own perception of our self worth is tied to the importance the world puts on it. What stories are we attaching to our work? To ourselves? I aim to empower the view...

Helloo. This is an open ended conversation around one person's creative process. I am so inspired by artist's who make themselves visible, and I've been resistant to step fully forward and let myself be seen. A huge chance no one "see's" this at all, but you get what I mean. Maybe someday my shame catches up and outweighs my manic need to produce creative output. I delete this channel and prete...

I covered Love To Last by Hajaj. This is one of my favorite artists right now. Had to sing it loud into the void for whoever wants it. Big shout to Andrew Raiher @ Blightly Music Studios for the chords. My doggo, Lucius Fox never misses an opportunity to take center stage. Try as I might, he's the true STAR of the show. I'm slowly learning to accept that. New music coming soon @PADDYQUAKKE on I...

      @@weedluffy well, all squares are rectangles, while some rectangles are squares. So all content is art and only some art is content? Or all art is content and only some content is art? Doesn’t quite make sense to me. I think they are both forms of representations. Art represents the authentic individual. Content represents the trans human hivemind. Some can be both of course.

  • @ludvigInLegendaryLands
    @ludvigInLegendaryLands 9 днів тому

    I don't think content is art. It is representation. Art is just one form of representation, one which values self-expression and authenticity. It started in the reneissance and was the dominant form of representation during modernity. I think for instance that a byzantine mosaic or hieroglyphs a pharaoh's tomb, are not art. Not sure what the best term is, maybe relics, ornaments, Im not sure. They represented a different cosmology, not cantered around the individual. Similarly, content is a new form of representation. It's early so its hard to say what it represents, maybe 'Dataism' as coined by Harrari, 'Techno-feudalism' coined by Varufakhis or 'Profilicity' as coined by Hans-Georg Muller. I have a video where I discuss this at length.

      Obviously, there will be thigs that are hybrids. Like I would say renaissance art is both craft and art. And so many of the examples you list are both art and content at the same time. But that doesn't make content art.

    • @patrick.hilgart
      @patrick.hilgart 9 днів тому

      I love this perspective and thank you for the historical context. It makes me realize how new content truly is. I wonder if people will look back on this time as a Renaissance in its own way. Art or not, it’s a brand new language, and it’s quite the spectacle!

  • @cdarklock
    @cdarklock 9 днів тому

    Art has a fairly simple requirement: you have to know what you are going to make before you make it, and actively try to make the thing in the world match the thing in your head. Content is just anything. Anything at all. You record anything and it is content. That recording takes up space and fills up time, but there's no requirement for it to BE anything, to have any kind of meaning or quality. It's fairly simple to claim your content is art, even if you didn't know what you were making and had nothing in your head for the content to match. The only one who knows it's not art is you. The core question is whether you are an artist, or just a lying sack of shit.

    Boy, have you become a narcissist.

    • @patrick.hilgart
      @patrick.hilgart 10 днів тому

      I'd have to reflect further on that. I have a UA-cam channel, which certainly doesn't help my case... I would say that while I am capable of showcasing traits of narcissism, it's usually in a fun bro moment, or if I'm insecure and feeling the need to prove that I'm good enough. I'm not an expert, but I think that my ability to reflect on my own emotions in that way debunks your theory, however, I'd like to offer more clarification: In reference to my love of clothes: To me, that is about creative expression. Creative expression is the through line on this channel, and that was my intention in sharing. I grew up as a young man who was shamed at school for his full expression. My escape was seeing people on TV who were so embodied and wearing whatever they wanted. Now, I have the chance to do that on my teeny tiny corner of the internet, in hopes that it may encourage another future artist somewhere to lean into their own unique calling, and you shame me! I do understand that without context, it's just a vane thing to share. However, I do admit that can be vane sometimes! I don't love that about me. I"m working on it :)

    • @sallyvella7012
      @sallyvella7012 10 днів тому

      @@patrick.hilgart LOL, see, I never mentioned anything about clothes, and do you point the wind direction being VANE, because I would say you are extremely VAIN in your self-esteem and low confidence. LOL, you should be more in educating yourself instead of entertaining yourself and looking for validation from complete strangers and then you reject those who give constructive criticism of how you are going to the dark side of ignorance. Good Luck, find someone who is wise to tell you this is all empty what you are doing and will never fill you up and you will go to greater and greater lengths to make a fool of yourself because you think that makes you important, but in that time, you actually lost yourself long ago, and it will take you twice as long to get to where you need to be in your walk in life for clear inner peace. You do find it one day, long in the future like many people miss the boat the first 40 years of their life.

    I am honoured I can be your first comment. I am recording a song and realized that despite having recorded two albums, I still cant sing to a the standard I would like. Luckily I also found out how to better utilize autotune to still get a natural sound. Its hard to be a solo artist when you are comparing yourself to masters of there craft who work with other masters of there craft. I was so demotivated but this video has helped a lot.

    I dunno if that counts as art, but I once wrote a fanfic for 4chan and I really poured my heart into it. Like, I dealt with a lot of very personal issues in the story, considering it was set in completely absurd and niche settings. I was really hyped to share it with the thread because I enjoyed writing it so much but when I did, the response was completely lukewarm. That was when I realised that I've been writing it for myself the whole the time. That no one else can appreciate your work as much as you can. And if someone actually does, he can't make you feel as good as you did while making it. Funny thing, I later returned to the story just for the fun of it, so I could revise it with my growing english vocabulary. After I did, I decided to post it somewhere else and suddenly, people liked it. It wasn't an international banger, given how niche it was but people actually did appreciate it. Sometimes you just need to present it to the right people.

    I feel called to be a singer. I feel like music is the only thing that I know is real and the only thing that genuinely sets my heart on fire. And I have to chase it or else I will have nothing. I've been procrastinating making any practical moves to make the music thing "official" and I think it's because I surround myself with so much of it and it's like every song I listen to is a masterpiece and mine pale in comparison. Sometimes I feel so stupid when I'm writing a song because my mind is like - "Really? This is what you have to say thank you to the people who changed your life with their songs?" Like why would I even attempt to write something worthy when x/y/z already exists. But this video really resonated with me and I'm going to stop trying to be the best/to create something completely new and innovative and I'm just gonna let the art that is bubbling within me escape, no matter how it turns out!! THANK YOU and pls continue posting!! <3

      Sing @cherryia! I am so happy you shared, and I relate so much to that. I am sending you so much support and encouragement! That calling will lead you to experiences that will give you more clarity in your writing. When we lean in, stay open, rehearse, reflect, perform, over and over, allow ourselves to soak up as much life as possible, and alsooo give ourselves permission to make bad art (spoiler: it never ends up bad) we free ourselves up more to play. You’re wonderful. Keep going! You’re my first ever comment and it’s very encouraging for me!!! Thank you for taking the time to share.
