      Schletter offer a 25 year manufacturer's warranty and the design life of the components is in excess of 30 years, so yes, the racking system is designed to last at least as long as the other components of a typical PV system.

      The maximum solar array size that can be installed on the 6kW single phase model (the largest) is 13kW. Please refer to the link below for specification details.     Good video. Just to get an understanding prior to getting a solar system installed, I was wondering how this is installed on 3 phase. Are groups of panels allocated to each of the phases or is it collective and then split into each of the phases? Can each phase be monitored? Or do I just see a 'total' in the app

      Hi Timothy, 3 phase installations typically have a third of the solar panels on each phase. For example, if there are 20 solar panels, there would be 7 on two of the phases and 6 on the other. A 3-phase Enphase trunk cable is used to achieve this. In saying this, it does depend on the roof and how the installer designs it. Each phase has a CT, and you will see the sum of the energy generated across the 3 phases.     Hi I have a 6kw sh6.ors hybrid sungrow inverter with 19.2 kW storage. I wanted to know how to activate the backup function. My backup output works only when there is the power grid in the absence it does not work, what did I do wrong? Thank you

    „Into close proximity“? With 4 panels maybe 180V open, how come the arc lights before wires touch? Air breakdown 30 kV/cm would mean the pointy ends should be within 0.06 millimeters…? What am I missing?

      I am a solar installer and was never able to simulate this. you are absolutely right, it would take a couple of ten thousand volts to simulate this with the distance between the wires he was showing. If this was true, it would be a nightmare for the transformer manufacturers... and a pleasure for the TEASER manufacturers, finally low voltage arc's, lol ... or maybe I got it all wrong, then please someone come and demonstrate me...

      Same question I had, there should be a ton of DCV there to maintain that huge gap. But you know he's not handling 30kV like that obviously.

      @@xorbe2 The arc starts when the wires are brought into close proximity (i.e. very close to touching ). Once established the arc is easily sustained across a gap of several centimetres due to the ionisation of the air around the fault. This is a relatively easy experiment to recreate with four common 300W -400W solar panels - so long as appropriate safe precautions are taken of course. There is no trickery involved. One of the reasons for the original posting of this video was to help clarify the common misconception that dangerous DC arcs only occur in high voltage and/or high current situations. 160 volts DC and 10 amps is easily enough power to cause and sustain a destructive arc fault.

    a single module can create an arc too and a microinverter does not have AFCI. String inverters come with AFCI nowadays and can detect arcs too, so you dont need to push a certain technology, better stop arguing for the products you want to sell

      Hi Solar Expert, we've not aware of any evidence of a house fire (or even any heat damage) caused by the arc from a single solar panel anywhere in the world, as the voltage and current available is simply not capable of sustaining an arc hot enough to combust typical building materials. Inverter standards don't require microinverters to have AFCI for this reason. String inverters with AFCI can shutdown when they detect an arc, but if there is a fault between the positive and negative cables within an array (i.e. a short circuit) the inverter shutting off will not have any impact on the arc fault. AC Solar Warehouse sells a comprehensive range of AC, DC Optimised and DC solar equipment. Each technology has it's pros and cons. AC Solar (microinverter) systems are pretty universally recognised as the safest of the various solar technologies due to the absence of any dangerous DC voltages. This has certainly been our experience over the last 10 years.

    My installer has the white and blue CT wiring back to from. What will this affect?

      Enphase recommend the white wire of the CT be connected to the top terminal and the blue connected to the bottom corresponding terminal. If they are swapped, it will not damage the Envoy, you will simply notice incorrect readings. If this CT is also turned around on the cable you will experience the correct readings. So if your readings are correct this could be the case? Your installer would be best to help if you are concerned.

      @@ACSolarWarehouse My production metering seems correct and this is the one that is turned around but my consumption never seems to be accurate. Says I’m consuming like 80w which is super low. Using a Powerpal to check monitoring when solar isn’t producing and never seems to match up. Would have thought the Enphase should be giving the same reading as the Powerpal. Not sure if having the production CT installed around the opposite way might affect the consumption CTs at all?

    Hi there, I'm very interested on this Sungrow Hybrid Inverter. Can I ask a few questions? -This latest model from Sungrow, it only using natural cooling fins, does it generates lots of heat? Does it need extra fan to cool it during summer time? - How much does it (5kw model) cost in Australia? Just a rough figure will do, as I'm not from Australia and I need to register to the website you provided just to get the price. - From the simulation, it shows that the system literally don't have any downtime gap, right? Does the pump room's lighting also connected to the same inverter system? - Can you start your pump just using the solar power system only? without the power assist from the grid. As I noticed, some hybrid can and some totally can't. Hopefully you can help out.

      Hi Icloon, the new model hybrid inverters from Sungrow have natural convection cooling with an ambient operating range of -25 to 60 degrees C. In Australia, solar systems must be installed by Clean Energy Council accredited solar installers who provide a complete price for the system installed. So these are not sold without installation etc so unfortunately we are unable to advise the price of the inverter alone. Try contacting your local solar supplier. The changeover to backup/emergency mode is <10ms. You can start appliances with the hybrid inverter in backup mode, you just need to ensure the appliances do not exceed the maximum output rating of the inverter during start and run. The inverter will even operate without a battery if there is sufficient solar energy at the time to power the appliances.       The Envoy collects individual panel data via a power line carrier (PLC) connection to the microinverters. This data is collected every few minutes from each micro. The CTs provide total instantaneous production and consumption data which is used for other purposes - like export power limiting.

    This is the first Enphase battery, 1.2 kWh capacity, and it is basically obsoleted by new Encharge batteries (3.36 kWh and 10.5 kWh versions). It connects to the main panel rather than the IQ combiner box. It operates as follows. “Charging and Discharging The charging and discharging functions are controlled by the IQ Envoy as follows: Charging: The IQ Battery typically charges during daylight hours and when the solar production is greater than the home consumption. The IQ Battery can also be programmed to charge from the electric grid at night under certain conditions. Discharging: The IQ Battery discharges power only to service local loads. It does not discharge power through the utility meter onto the electric grid. The IQ Battery discharges for use by the home if all of the following occur: • The consumption exceeds the production • The actual time of day is after the peak start time, if time of use is configured • The batteries are not fully discharged. If the batteries are fully discharged, then they must recharge from the PV system before they can discharge again.”

    So, if the paneles are in series, that means the current actualy passing by in the fault is the Icc? just a little bit more that the nominal Impp, maybe 10 amps?, so the modules and the cables are allright except for the part near the fault. Im not sure if the arc is formed by those 10 amps passing by a really small area, if the shorcircuit could be formed with a solid junction, there would'nt be an arc, right?

      Yes, the current flowing is equivalent to the Isc of the modules. The modules and cables are within their current rating, the arc forms due to a poor connection in the circuit. Once the arc commences, the heat will melt the conductors. If the arc was able to be bypassed with a solid connection, the arc would extinguish.

      There are no transient currents here as there is no energy storage anywhere, except for tiny bit of stray capacitance. Once shorted panel just maxes out it's short-circuit current, which is in a 10 A region. Also that current is not going through bypass diodes, as there is no imbalance between panels.

      For our low voltages installations (mostly residential) its typically single phase, 120/240v black conductors and your neutral/ground. We use blue and brown for our 408v

    And this is just 4 solar panels... It is just approx. 150 VDC open circuit voltage and common systems use voltages much higher than that...
